About this Quick Start Guide

Connecting to a TV

Is your TV equipped with an HDMI input jack labelled as “eARC/ARC” or “ARC”?
Connect to the TV using an HDMI cable (commercially available).

On the TV, enable the HDMI control function and set the audio output to an external system (ARC).
Connect to the TV using the included digital optical audio cable.

\(5\)Remove the caps on both ends of the cable and connect.

Turning on the sound bar

  1. YAMAHA-SR-X40A-True-X-Soundbar-With-Dolby-Atmos-FIG- \(5\) Connect the sound bar to power using the included power cord. After connecting the power, wait while some of the indicators on the front of the sound bar flash for approximately one minute.
  2. When the indicators stop flashing and turn off, go to the next step. On the remote control, press the © (power) button to turn on the soundbar. All the indicators glow, and then some indicators remain glowing according to the setting status (A} normal display). Pressing the © (power) button again turns the sound bar off.

Installing the Sound Bar Controller app and connecting to a network

Configure the network connection settings using the dedicated mobile app “Sound Bar Controller* to play streaming services or use Amazon Alexa. Search for “Sound Bar Controller” on the App Store or Google Play and install it on your mobile device. Open the app and follow the on-screen instructions to configure the settings below.

When a new version of the firmware is released, the UPDATE indicator on the front of the soundbar will flash green. Update the firmware to keep the sound bar functioning optimally. Use the Sound Bar Controller app to update the sound bar’s firmware. This indicator can only show whether an update is available when the sound bar is connected to the Internet and is also turned on.

Amazon Alexa

Amazon Alexa is a cloud-based voice assistant service provided by Amazon. Simply say “Alexa” to the sound bar and then use voice commands to control the sound bar, play music, and more. To use Alexa, prepare the following and connect the sound bar to the Internet.

Battery for the remote control
DO NOT INGEST BATTERY, CHEMICAL BURN HAZARD
The remote control supplied with this product contains a coin/button cell battery. If the coin/button cell battery is swallowed, it can cause severe internal burns in just 2 hours and can lead to death. Keep new and used batteries away from children. If the battery compartment does not close securely, stop using the product and keep it away from children. If you think batteries might have been swallowed or placed inside any part of the body, seek immediate medical attention.

Power supply

  • Do not use an AC outlet where the power plug fits loosely when inserted.
