INSTALLATION TIPS

• Be Aware of Silicone – Silicone caulk and silicone sealant must be removed 100% prior to installling InstaTrim strips. Instructions included.
• DO NOT use Mineral Spirits or other cleaners that contain oil, wax or silicone in the ingredi-ents for surface prep.
• Prior to installation – unrolling the strip and letting it lay flat will help to make it easier to work with.
• Clean the Application Area – remove loose debris and dust, wipe down the area with acetone and let dry completely.
• Use InstaTrim at Room Temperature – Do not install in temperatures below 68° F.
• Press FIRMLY Into Place – InstaTrim’s adhesive needs to spread in order to grab and adhere to the application surface. We recommend using the InstaTrim Applicator Tool to make installation easier!
• Avoid Stretching – stretching as you work will result in the trim shrinking back from the ends of the application area and may cause the adhesive to lose its grip.
• Tight Curves – use a hair dryer to warm the strip to make it easier to work with and look smooth around a tight curve.
• Ventilation – always use ventilation in enclosed areas when working with any solvent cleaning solution.

CLEAN AND PREPARE
THE INSTALLATION SURFACE

SILICONE MUST BE REMOVED 100% FROM THE APPLICATION SURFACE PRIOR TO INSTALLATION
Be aware that some old caulking may be silicone-based and that tile, stone and other building materials may come with a thin layer of silicone release. All silicone MUST be removed 100% from the surface where InstaTrim will be installed to ensure proper adhesion.
We recommend using Acetone for silicone removal.

REMOVE OLD SILICONE OR LOOSE GROUT

1. Cut away and remove all caulk with a caulk remover tool or razor blade.

2. Apply Acetone or Isopropyl Alcohol to the silicone and let sit for a 1/2 hr or so before scrubbing the area with a scrubby sponge or brush.
   Always use ventilation with ANY solvent cleaning solution.
   PREPARE THE SURFACE
   

3. Vacuum or wipe away any loose dust, grout or debris.

4. Thoroughly wipe down the area with Acetone or Isopropyl Alcohol to remove any silicone residue or sealant that is left behind.

5. Be sure that you DO NOT use Mineral Spirits or other cleaners that contain oils, wax or silicone in the ingredients. Let the surface dry completely before installation.

QUICK & EASY STEPS TO THE PERFECT INSTALLATION

• CLEAN – Thoroughly clean the surface where InstaTrim will be installed by removing old caulk, grout and debris. Wipe down the area with a damp cloth, using isopropyl alcohol or acetone to help ensure adhesion. Let the surface dry completely. BE SURE TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS ON REVERSE IF YOU ARE REMOVING SILICONE FROM THE SURFACE.
• MEASURE – Lay the new trim strip along the application area to determine the length needed. Add 1/4 inch, cut with a razor blade or scissors.
• PEEL – Locate the thin plastic release liner that covers the adhesive and peel back about 12 inches of liner.
• PRESS – Line up the end of the strip with the end of the application area and lightly press it into place every 3-4 inches along the strip, pulling back additional liner as you work. If the placement isn’t quite right, you can pull the strip back from the surface to re-align. CAUTION: Do not pull or stretch the InstaTrim while you work as this may cause the ends to shrink back over time.
• APPLY FIRM PRESSURE – Once the trim is set into place, press it onto the surface every 1-2 inches along the strip. Go over the entire strip again with FIRM pressure to ensure the adhesive has spread and adhered to the application surface. We recommend using the InstaTrim Applicator Tool to make installation even easier.

InstaTrim WILL NOT adhere to old silicone or silicone residue.
TIP: If you are having issues with the adhesive sticking to the surface, review the directions for cleaning, especially the section about silicone removal. Also, make sure the InstaTrim is at room temperature, and if needed, use a hairdryer to warm the strip slightly before installing.

INSTATRIM ACCESSORIES

CORNER AND END CAPS

InstaTrim’s Corner and End Caps make it quick and easy to finish inside and outside corners and to hide exposed trim ends, leaving you with a smooth professional finish.

• Place corner piece or end cap in place on the installation surface.
• Slide the end of the InstaTrim between the ‘face’ and ‘tail’ of the corner or end piece.
• Press the InstaTrim strip into place along the remaining portion of the installation surface according to the installa-tion instructions.
• HELPFUL TIP: Remove a small ball of adhesive from the InstaTrim strip and use it to adhere the corner piece to the surface or use a small drop of permanent glue to be sure it stays in place.

APPLICATOR TOOL

The key to installing InstaTrim is that you need to press the strip firmly enough onto the surface to cause the adhesive to adhere to the surface area. The Applicator Tool’s comfort-grip handle makes it easy on your hands and assists in applying firm pressure for the final step of installation.
