Golf mode with slope compensation example
Distance measurement of ascending slope: Slope is farther than the straight-line distance.
Distance between AB points=distance between AD points in a straight-line 99.7Y. Hit the ball in accordance with the distance measured with the strike parabola 1, the angle of slope is + 6°, and the ball will arrive at the point C.
To reach the point B,the trajectory of the ball needs to follow the parabola 2.
The actual hitting distance at this time is the straight-line distance between point A and point E, i.e. 108Y.

example

Distance measurement of downward slope: Slope is less than the straight-line distance.
Distance between AB points = distance between AD points in a straight-line 216Y. Hit the ball in accordance with the measured distance with the strike parabola 2, the angle of slope is -12 °, the ball will arrive at the point C. To reach the point B,the trajectory of the ball needs to follow the parabola

  1. The actual hitting distance at this time is the straight-line distance between point A and point E, i.e. 170Y.

GOLF SLOP OFF

In GOLF SLOP OFF mode, the rangefinder operates as follows:

  • Slope compensation is disabled.
  • The lower area displays the line-of-sight distance to the target.
  • The left side shows the slope angle.
  • To measure the range, aim at the target and press the POWER button.

Note: When two or more targets are within the aiming reticle, the rangefinder will measure the closer target. Press and hold the POWER button for 2 seconds to enter the flagpole lock mode. When the flagpole is locked for the first time, the outer ring of the GOLF icon will be displayed, along with a vibration. If the measured target is not your target, you can continue to aim at your target and hold the Power button for 2 seconds for new range measurement.

Note that the rangefinder will enter standby mode and turn off automatically after 10 seconds of no operation from the user. Press the POWER button to reactivate it.

BRD Mode (Bow Range Distance)

Under BRD mode, the line of sight (SD) range will be indicated in the lower area of the camera, and the horizontal (HD) range will be indicated in the upper area. This mode is the recommended target mode for most situations such as bow and rifle shooting.EosVision EV GR1000 Golf Hunting Rangefinder - Bow

How to Range

Standard Ranging
With the rangefinder is powered up, position the reticle on the target object and press the Power button to get the distance measurement. If the laser is not able to range due to the reflectivity of the target, you will see a display similar to that shown here. To range a new target, simply re-aim and press the Power button again.

Scan Ranging
Activate Scan Ranging by pressing and holding the Power button under BRD mode. Keep pressing the button to continue measuring distance as you pan back and forth across target objects.
*Golf mode does not have Scan Ranging.

Maintenance

  • Use a lens brush to remove dust or grit from lenses.
  • Use a clean lens cloth or tissue to remove smudges or smears from lenses.
  • Store rangefinder in a dry location away from direct sunlight.

Rangefinding Tips

Laser rangefinders work by emitting a brief pulse of light aimed at a target object. Distance is determined by the amount of time taken for the light to emit and return to the laser’s internal receiver. A laser’s ability to read range can be affected by many things—mostly relating to the target objects.

  • Light colors will usually reflect better than dark ones.
  • Be aware that snow, rain, and fog will have adverse effects on ranging ability.
  • Shiny, reflective surfaces will usually reflect better than dull, textured surfaces. Animal hair will not reflect as well as a hard surface.
  • Ranging under cloud cover can improve laser performance compared to bright sunny conditions.
  • The position of the sun compared to the rangefinder and/or range target will greatly affect performance.
  • Solid objects, such as a rock, will reflect better than bushes.
  • Flat surfaces perpendicular to the laser pulse will reflect better than curved surfaces or surfaces angled in relation to laser pulse.
  • Ranging over water can sometimes cause false reflections and readings.
  • At longer distances, large objects will be easier to range than small objects.
  • If you are having difficulty ranging an animal or object, try ranging a different nearby object, using the Scan feature to pan back and forth while watching for changes in range number.
