Product Usage Instructions
Initial Setup
- Remove all parts from the box and verify against the packing list.
- Connect the power cord to the designated power source.
- Switch on the unit by flipping the main power switch to the ON position.
Operating the StoneVac
- Press the START/STOP button on the unit to start the motor.
- Adjust suction level using the SPEED UP or SPEED DOWN buttons.
- For remote control, set desired suction level manually, then connect the remote to the REMOTE PORT and switch to REMOTE mode.
Maintenance
Cleaning the Filter:
- Activate self-cleaning feature by holding the Power switch in CLEAN position for several seconds.
- Wait for optimal cleaning to occur and then turn off the unit before use.
Emptying the Dust Bin:
- Check dust level, open door, and remove dust bin for disposal.
- Replace with a Vaniman replacement bag (P/N 97002) before reinserting the bin.

INSTRUCTIONS
- Remove the unit and other parts from the box and check against the packing list. Remove the hose and power cord from inside the dust bin as well as any protective paper packing material.
- Plug one end of the power cord into the back of the StoneVac and the other end into a designated 15 AMP circuit. Turn on the StoneVac by flipping the main power switch on the back of the Unit into the ON position. Once the switch is in the ON position, the red LED indicator on the front of the unit will illuminate.
- The 2.5″ vacuum hose supplied slips onto the vacuum connection in the back of the unit and the other end connects to the top of the Large Accumulator. The 1.5″ vacuum hose connects from the Large Accumulator’s inlet arm to the collection point in your post-processing area. The ideal location for the StoneVac is near the post-processing area. Hose extensions and adaptors are available from your dealer. We recommend, however, that you try to keep the total length of hose less than 6 feet between the StoneVac and the dust collection point; longer hose will reduce suction.
- When you are ready to use your StoneVac, press the button on the front of the unit labeled START/STOP (Fig. 1). Once pressed, the motor will begin to run at the lowest available speed and the green LED indicator will illuminate on the front of the StoneVac.
- While the motor is running you can increase suction by pressing the SPEED UP button, or decrease suction by pressing the SPEED DOWN button until you find an an acceptable level of suction for your application.
- While the StoneVac Brushless SC can be controlled at the unit’s front control panel, it also can be controlled remotely with one of Vaniman’s remotes. To use a remote with the StoneVac Brushless SC, start by setting the desired suction level for your application by starting the motor, increasing or decreasing the speed of the motor, then stop the motor.
- Plug the remote into the REMOTE PORT (Fig. 2) on the back of the unit then press the MANUAL/ REMOTE button on the front of the unit (Fig. 1). The blue LED indicator on the front control panel will illuminate signifying the unit is being controlled by the connected remote(s). Test this by flipping your remote switch into the ON position and the StoneVac will start running at the speed you set it at in step #6.
NOTE: In the case that your StoneVac AM loses power for whatever reason, the unit will resume operation in the mode and at the speed previously set by the user once power is restored to the unit. For example, if the user was working with the unit in remote mode at speed 7 and the power supply to the unit is turned off, once power is resupplied the unit will return to the remote mode at speed 7.

Cleaning the Filter – When a noticeable drop in suction occurs in the unit, it is time to clean the filter. To use the self-cleaning feature of the StoneVac, push and hold the Power switch in the “CLEAN” position for several seconds. Optimum cleaning takes place in within 5 seconds. For best results, wait an additional 10-15 seconds with the Power switch in the “OFF” or center position, this allows the dust cleaned from the filter to fall into the dust bin before turning the unit on again.

Emptying the Dust Bin – Depending on usage, the unit will need to be emptied at different intervals. To check the level of dust in the bin, open the door and observe the dust level. To empty, open the door and slide the bin from the unit. Pull the edges of the bag together to close the bag for disposal. Replace the bag with a Vaniman replacement and carefully slide the dust bin back into the unit. Replacement bag re-order number P/N 97002 (pack of 12).

Servicing or Replacing the Filter Cartridge – Regularly check the filter to make sure it is secure and properly seated against the filter mounting/sealing plate. Periodically, the filter cartridge will become worn or clogged beyond the use of the “CLEAN” feature. In cases when dust collector usage is heavy, changing interval may be as frequent as 3-6 months. To replace the filter, follow the instructions above to remove and empty the dust bin. With the dust bin removed, reach underneath the Filter Cartridge and unscrew the filter retaining nut. Remove the nut and washers and pull the filter downward then forward out of the unit. Replace the filter with a new filter cartridge then reverse removal instructions for proper installation. Filter Cartridge re-order P/N 97001.
NOTE: Be sure to replace the rubber washer FIRST and the metal washer SECOND. Securely fasten the filter retaining nut. Improper installation may cause dust to pass into the air. -
Electrical Protection – The StoneVac is protected by a circuit breaker. If the unit is plugged in and does not operate, check to see if the circuit breaker was activated by inspecting it on the back of the unit where the power cord enters the unit. If the circuit breaker was activated, push the button in the center to reset it. If the unit still does not operate, contact your dealer or call the factory at 1- 800-VANIMAN for technical assistance.

Thermal Protection – The brushless motor is thermally protected and is virtually maintenance free. However, if improper ventilation is not provided to the unit, it may overheat and shut down. Allow the unit to cool fully, correct the ventilation problem and restart the unit.
RECOMMENDED USAGE
- The StoneVac for Addivitve Manufacturing is best used for up to two post-processing work stations to collect dry dust only, including Nylon 11 and Nylon 12. If you are unsure about whether a specific dust is compatible with this unit, please contact Vaniman Manufacturing Co.
- The StoneVac for Additive Manufacturing can also be used with abrasives or micro-blasters. Whatever application you use this unit for, it is important that the filter be serviced or replaced regularly to maintain suction and prolong the unit life. Additionally, Vaniman’s Pre-Filter/Accumulator helps capture abrasive before it reaches the dust collector, increasing the life of the filter.
NOTE: WHEN REPLACING THE FILTER, PLEASE FOLLOW PROPER PROTECTION PROTOCALS REQUIRED BASED ON THE MATERIAL YOU ARE COLLECTING. SOME MATERIALS MAY BE HAZARDOUS AND COULD CAUSE INJURY.
ACCUMULATOR INSTALLATION AND MOUNTING :
The Accumulator comes with a mounting bracket that can be fastened to a wall
by using the two #8 wood screws provided or other wall fasteners to attach the
bracket before assembling the Accumulator. To fasten to a wall, loosen the
large band clamp and remove from the Accumulator. Fasten to a wall or other
vertical surface before sliding the Accumulator back into the clamp and
tightening. The Accumulator can also be mounted to the side of Vaniman Dust
Collectors by screwing the Bracket into the two mounting holes on the Dust
Collector Case opposite the exhaust. Leave at least 1-2 inches under the cup
so that it may be emptied removed and emptied.
ACCUMULATOR HOSE CONNECTION:

The Inlet and Outlet of the Accumulator are designed to receive Vaniman’s 2.5″ hose or 1.5″ hose with Vaniman’s reducing adapter.

The Accumulator is installed between the workstation and the Dust Collector. Connect the hose from the Dust Collector to the Outlet on top of the Accumulator by gently sliding the hose end into the Accumulator until snug. The hose collecting the debris should connect to the Inlet (horizontal arm) of the Accumulator by gently sliding the hose end into the Accumulator until snug.
ACCUMULATOR OPERATION: -
After making your hose connections and before turning your Dust Collector on, ensure the two Toggle Latches on the Collection Cup are snapped in place to secure the Collection Cup to the bottom of the Accumulator.

To remove the cup, turn the Dust Collector off and gently tap the sides of the Accumulator to knock down dust from the Accumulator walls into the cup. Hold the Collection Cup with one hand on each side directly below the toggle latches, and with your index fingers flip the Toggle Latches upward then swing the Wire Bales outward. Carefully lower the Collection Cup and empty the contents. Replace the cup onto the bottom rim of the Accumulator, swing the wire bales over the bottom rim of the Accumulator, and snap the Toggle Latches down to secure the cup in place.
NOTE: While Collection Cup is removed from the Accumulator, inspect the gasket on the bottom of the Accumulator body where the Collection Cup meets it. If damaged or in need of replacement, contact Vaniman to order a replacement. Without this gasket, the collected material could escape from the collection system. -
Turn the vacuum system on and use as you normally would. As the collector pot fills with dust, you can see the material through the translucent walls of the Collection Cup. It is best to empty the Collection Cup daily or when it is half full.
