Evolution of the ROCO locomotive mouse – the multiMAUS

The multiMAUS combines the functionality of the legendary Lokmaus with the convenience of a fullblown digital control centre. Whether you use the multiMAUS only as a handy speed controller or want to do extensive programming for your locomotive decoders and turnouts, the clear design combined with the simple operation makes the multiMAUS a benchmark for digital model railway controls.
Our aim was to design this locomotive mouse so that it can be operated intuitively. Even the many new functions of this 3rd generation locomotive mouse can be easily controlled. In this manual, we will show you what the multiMAUS can do.
This manual it is divided into several parts to make the contents clearer. That means a user who only wants to play with the multiMAUS does not have to read through the entire manual; the fi rst part is enough.
This fi rst part of the manual deals with the most important basics for connecting and operating the multiMAUS. Users who want to use the many options of multiMAUS for programming will fi nd everything they need to know in the second part. The third part deals with special topics related to digital model railways. A glossary explains some important basic terms that you may see again and again when dealing with digital model railways.

BASICS

1.1. Connecting the multiMAUS
For a functional ROCO digital system with the multiMAUS, you need the following items:

  • An amplifi er 10764,
  • A switched power supply 10851,
  • And a feed element 61190 for the GEOLINE track system. If you use a different track system, make sure that there is no capacitor in the connection track.

Which devices you can use with the multiMAUS can be found in the chapter “Compatibility of the multiMAUS” in part 4 of this manual.
Please make sure to observe the following instructions before starting connection work:
**** If you use third-party components together with ROCO components, there is no warranty in the event of damage or malfunction. The warranty claim also expires when the housing of the multiMAUS is opened.
Please carry out all connection work only with the operating voltage switched off (exception:
Connection of additional X-BUS devices, see below). Work carefully and make sure that no short circuits occur when connecting to the track system! An incorrect connection can destroy the digital components. Please contact your specialist dealer for advice if necessary.
To operate the digital system without malfunctions, you should not extend the connection cable to the master mouse.
Under no circumstances should you connect a normal transformer to the same circuit in parallel to the digital control. This will destroy the digital amplifi er!

  1. Plug the cable of the connecting track into the “Track Out” socket of the amplifi er.
  2. Plug the hollow plug that is connected to the transformer via the two-pole cable into the “Power In” socket.
  3. Connect the multiMAUS and the amplifi er with the supplied cable. Plug the cable into the connec-tion socket of the amplifi er marked “Master”.
  4. Only now should you connect the transformer to the mains socket. This will prevent damage to the digital system.

The socket labelled “Slave” is used to connect another multiMAUS, a Lokmaus 2 /R3, the RouteControl 10772 or a PC to the ROCOMOTION software. In this case, you should have switched on the system to enable smooth automatic assignment of the X-BUS addresses in the system. If several of these devices are to be connected, you will need data bus distributor 10758.
If you use a Lokmaus 2 as master, some functions of a multiMAUS connected as a slave cannot be used. We therefore recommend that you always use a multiMAUS as a master. Please also refer to the chapter “Master and slave principle” in section 3 of the manual.

Note on the manual
A “→” before a word refers to an explanation in the “Glossary” in section 4 of the manual.
“+” in the sketches means to press the two above-mentioned buttons simultaneously.
“/” in the sketches means to select one of the two buttons to press.
Unless otherwise mentioned, the term “Z21” refers to all different Z21 variants (Z21, z21, z21start).

1.2. The display
All functions of the multiMAUS can be monitored via the large backlit LC display. We will explain the symbols.Roco Z21Maus Digital Multi Scale - The
display 1.3. The buttons
Keeping the number of buttons low is part of the clear concept of the multiMAUS. All the functions necessary for operation can mostly be called up directly using the respective buttons, which we will explain here. Also observe „Fig. 1“ on page 42 here.
Notes: The “arrow buttons” – like all other buttons – only have a single press function, even though two arrows are printed on them.
For combinations of Shift and another button, the Shift button must be pressed a little earlier, just like on a computer keyboard. The same applies for the MENU button.

OPERATION OF THE MULTIMAUS

Despite its many options, multiMAUS operation is easy and intuitive. It has a concept that has already been successful with ROCO for the fi rst and second generation of locomotive mice. In the following, we will show how to operate the multiMAUS with practical examples.
If any problems should arise during operation or programming, you will fi nd information in „Tips, notes and quick help“ on page 77.

2.1. Start
After starting up the multiMAUS, the display shows the animated multiMAUS lettering. The multiMAUS then goes into driving mode and displays the fi rst locomotive.
2.1.1. First use
When the multiMAUS is connected for the fi rst time, only one locomotive (address 3) is in the li-brary (“library mode” factory setting). The display shows the locomotive symbol, the standstill symbol “II” (meaning the locomotive is stationary) together with the right direction arrow and the lettering “LOC 1”. You can operate the locomotive immediately.
If you have purchased the multiMAUS with a start set, the locomotive from this set is already completely programmed. You can also immediately operate this locomotive (section „The menus“ on page 60). 2.1.2. Already used multiMAUS
If you have already used the multiMAUS, the last controlled locomotive is always displayed in the respective mode – library or locomotive address – after switching on.
When scrolling through with the arrow buttons, the current settings of the driving mode – i.e.
driving direction, locomotive name or locomotive address, selected functions – are displayed. If a slave multiMAUS is unplugged and plugged back in again, it can remember this information, while an unplugged master multiMAUS will not (displays only “ ” and “ ”).

2.2. Type of locomotive access
The multiMAUS has two options for locomotive access:

  • With the library mode set at the factory: See section „The library mode“ on page 50.
  • With the address mode, i.e. directly with the locomotive address: See section „The locomotive address mode“ on page 53.

Switching between the two modes is done by pressing the Shift and Locomotive / Turnout buttons at the same time.
2.2.1. The library mode
The locomotive library is a database that allows you to store 64 locomotives with names (5 digits), the locomotive address and the desired speed steps.
**** All entries are only stored in the multiMAUS, but not in the locomotive decoder. This means the decoder locomotive address must always be changed via “CV1” (see „Quick programming“ on page 57). Changing in the library is not enough.

Display (here, for example, the steam locomotive of class “S 3/6”):

  • Locomotive designation (here “S 3/6”) and locomotive symbol
  • Direction of travel (here: the locomotive was or is stationary, the last driving direction is indicated by the arrow)
  • Light (here: the illumination of the locomotive is switched on)
  • F1 and F4 (here: the activated functions of the locomotive)

2.2.2. New entry of a locomotive (here e.g. the diesel locomotive of DR class 120 “Taiga drum”):

| | The entry is made with the 1 – 0 function but- tons and works like writing an SMS on a mobile phone: Press a button repeatedly until the desired character appears. The cursor flashes and pauses for a moment after the correct char- acter is entered before it jumps to the next digit.

The selection of the speed steps is done with the arrow buttons. You have 3 options to choose from: 14, 28 or 128 speed steps. The factory setting is 28 speed steps. If you have selected a different preset in the “SETTINGS” menu, it appears on the display.
| | If you switch to 128 speed steps, the locomotive can be controlled with a high level of sensitivity. Modern decoders allow for this fine control.
If no change is to be made, simply press OK.
| | Pressing the OK button for the last time adds the locomotive to the library. Just check that the locomotive address in the library is identical to the address stored in the locomotive decoder. If necessary, reprogram the locomotive address (see „Quick programming“ on page
57** ).
The locomotive can now be controlled.

2.2.3. The locomotive address mode
The multiMAUS also offers you the option of easily controlling your locomotives using the decoder address. The display shows you the locomotive address preceded by “L” – here that is locomotive address 36, the locomotive symbol and the selected functions.
Another locomotive (address) can be selected with two different options:

  • Using the arrow buttons
  • By entering the number directly with the function buttons after pressing the Shift and the Light / OK buttons simultaneously

You can change the speed steps either in the “LOC” > “EDIT” menu (see „The menus“ on page 60) or by using the combination of MENU and an arrow button. The changeover is done with an arrow button; you get back to the locomotive address mode with the STOP button.
The “Smart Search” function is useful when searching for an address using the arrow buttons.
If you hold down the arrow button, the search stops at the last selected locomotive and continues only after a short pause.
Directions on how to program a new locomotive address using CV1 can be found in „Quick programming“ on page 57.

2.3. Driving and functions
Once you have selected a locomotive from the library or directly using the locomotive address, it is immediately ready to run. You can determine the driving direction and speed by turning the large speed controller. Both driving direction and standstill are shown in the display above the locomotive name or address.
When the locomotive is at a standstill (“II” display), the last driving direction is also displayed. This makes it easy to see that any locomotive illumination that may be switched on is also on the right way around, meaning white light for the front of the train, red light at the rear.

Backwards Standstill Forwards

If a locomotive is controlled by another multiMAUS or Lokmaus, the locomotive symbol fl ashes.
The locomotive functions, such as locomotive sounds, are activated with the function buttons. The 10 functions can be triggered directly with the respective buttons.
For the F11 – F20 functions, you have to press the Shift button at the same time as the corresponding function button.
The display shows the activated functions. In the images above, for example, these are the functions F1 and F4.
You can check which functions of the second level – F11– F20 – are switched on by pressing the Shift button. F12 and F20 are activated in the following image. The “ ” arrow stands for the tens place here, so “1” is interpreted for F11 – F19 and “2” for F20. To fi nd out which functions are available for your locomotive, please refer to its operating instructions.

display 2.4. The emergency stop functions
When things get rough: You can immediately prevent more trouble at any time with the STOP button.
However, so as not to shut down the entire system, you can also use the “selective locomotive stop” to immediately stop only the locomotive selected in the display.
2.4.1. Emergency stop
Pressing the STOP button immediately interrupts the voltage to the track; the STOP symbol in the display fl ashes. When pressing the STOP button again, the system is supplied with voltage.Roco Z21Maus Digital Multi Scale - Emergency
stop 2.4.2. Selective locomotive stop
The selective locomotive stop only stops the locomotive currently controlled by the multiMAUS.

Press the Shift and STOP buttons simulta- neously. The locomotive stops

immediately, the display shows standstill symbol “II” (and the last driving direction).
Note : If a locomotive mouse 2 or R3 with illumination is connected as a slave, this type of emergency stop is not reported back by both direction arrows lighting up. Only the last direction is displayed.

Turning the speed controller releases the locomotive stop and the locomotive starts moving again.
2.5. Turnout control
With the multiMAUS, you can control up to 1,024 digital turnout drives with real turnout addresses without having to use up a locomotive address (as with the Lokmaus 2 / R3). To do so, you can switch to turnout mode and back at any time during operation by pressing the LOC / Turnout button. The last turnout called up will then always appear.
**** Driving mode will not be interrupted in turnout mode! For this reason, the drive symbols are also shown on the display. It is possible to control the locomotive last active using the speed controller, and also to trigger an emergency stop.

appears. As with every other turnout called up for the first time, the complete turnout symbol appears at the top right in this case. The driving symbols are related to the last controlled locomotive and can therefore differ from the example shown here.

Use the function buttons to enter the turnout address and switch the drive using the arrow buttons so that the route is set to “straight ahead ” (left arrow button) or to “branch ” (right arrow button).Roco Z21Maus Digital

The turnout is switched at the moment you press one of the arrow buttons. The setting of the turnout is also saved. For confi rmation, the fi rst free digits after the “W” are set as “0” (of course only for 1-, 2- or 3-digit turnout addresses).
**** The indication of the turnout position in the display does not in any way imply feedback from the turnout drive. Whether the turnout has actually been switched can only be determined at the turnout.
You can now either leave turnout mode by pressing the Locomotive / Turnout button or call up and switch the turnout by entering another turnout address.
If you call up another turnout address, the insertion mark fl ashes alternately with the entered digit until you have switched the turnout using the arrow buttons or confi rmed with the Light / OK button.
Example: You want to drive a locomotive (current driving direction left) over the branch of turnout no. 24.

The last turnout called up always appears, here turnout “6”, “straight” position.
| | The flashing insertion mark indicates that the turnout address is ready for input. Use the “2” and “4” function buttons to enter address “24”.
If the turnout has never been switched, the complete turnout symbol appears in the display.
| | Pressing the right arrow button switches the turnout. Depending on the turnout drive used, you may hear an acoustic con- firmation. The free spaces between “W” and the address “24” are filled with “0”.
Note : Pressing the button too long can damage or destroy older turn- out drives that do not feature limit switching!

Pressing the Locomotive / Turnout button returns you to driving mode (library or locomotive address mode).
Three useful aids of the multiMAUS for turnout mode:

  1. Toggle mode
    You can switch between the current and the last accessed turnout by pressing the Light / OK button. This means you have quick access to two turnouts that, for instance, are situated one after the other in a route.

  2. Address scrolling
    Simultaneously pressing the Shift button and one of the two arrow buttons causes the multiMAUS to scroll through all turnout addresses.

  3. Turnout quick buttons
    For quick access, you can program the 10 most frequently used turnouts as a speed dial function on one of the function buttons. Proceed as in the following example:
    Turnouts 5 and 14 should be switched using the 1 and 2 function buttons in the future. To do this, fi rst call up turnout 5 as usual in turnout mode, then press the MENU button at the same time as function button 1 and confi rm with the Light / OK button.
    Then call up turnout 14 and press the MENU button at the same time as function button 2 to save. Confi rmation with the Light / OK button is also required here.
    Now you can call up these two turnouts in turnout mode at any time with the Shift button and the corresponding function button. You can switch the turnout by holding down the Shift button while pressing the corresponding function button.
    At the factory, the turnouts with numbers 1–10 are stored on the function buttons of the same name (turnout 10 = function button 0). You can simply overwrite this stored information.

2.6. Quick programming
The most important settings for driving – confi guration variables, called CVs – of a decoder can be made with the MENU + function button combination.
CV1 = Locomotive address (changing the value directly affects the decoder, but not the locomotive library. The address stored there must have the same value as the CV.)
CV2 = Minimum speed
CV3 =Acceleration
CV4 = Brake time
CV5 = Maximum speed
CV8 = Reset of decoder data to factory values
You can carry out quick programming both in “library mode” and in “locomotive address mode”. Changing CVs 1–5 only affects digital operation of the locomotive.
** Before a new value can be written, the current value is read from the decoder installed in the locomotive and displayed. The read-out process can be interrupted by briefl y pressing the Z21 Stop button. The read-out process can be interrupted by briefl y pressing the Z21 Stop button.
Decoders already installed in locomotives by ROCO are delivered with practical settings. That is why you should check whether it is really necessary before doing any programming.
Programming must be done on a separate programming track, unless only one digital locomotive or one turnout decoder is connected to the Z21 via the tracks or other wiring, or the multiMAUS is set to “POM” mode (see chapter 3.3. on page 66). If programming is carried out on the normal track and there is more than one digital locomotive on the track (or other turnout decoders than ROCO items 42624 and 10775), a programming command changes the settings of all decoders in the system. So, for instance, you could accidentally program all decoders to the same locomotive address.
For programming on the separate programming track, either plug a track section electrically isolated from the rest of the system to the track output of the Z21 or switch off the rest of the track system with a switch before programming.
Note: On the black Z21, the programming track output must be used (no reconnection necessary).
Example:** How to program locomotive address = CV1 to the value 4.

For a brief moment, the display shows the selected CV and then immediately changes to show a ficti- tious suggested value.

Note: If you have changed CV1 of a locomotive, check whether the address specifi cation of the locomotive in the locomotive library still matches.

As shown in this example, you can also program new values for CVs 2, 3, 4 and 5. All you have to do is press the MENU button at the same time as the digit of the function buttons corresponding to the CV and then proceed as in the example above.
If you set value “8” in CV8 (another value cannot be entered), all CVs of the decoder are reset to the factory values.

2.7. Short circuit and overload
If a short circuit or an overload occurs in the system, the multiMAUS indicates this in the display with two fl ashing symbols: A fl ash and the STOP symbol.
The power supply to the system is switched off at the same time.
If it is a short circuit, e.g. caused by a derailed wagon or train, eliminate the fault. When the STOP button is pressed, the system is switched on again with a delay of about one second.
If the fault is not a short circuit, the cause may be system overload, for instance simultaneous operation of several locomotives. If this occurs frequently, the power supply of your system is not suffi cient. Connect (another) BOOSTER for this purpose (see „Appendix“ on page 70). Under no circumstances should you use a normal transformer to directly feed in power; the multiMAUS and Z21 will be destroyed.

THE MENUS

The menu functions of the multiMAUS
The multiMAUS has three main menus that you can use to do extensive programming as well as change the basic settings of the multiMAUS. You can reach this menu level in two ways:

  • Approx. 5 seconds of pressing the MENU button only (duration can be set in the “SET-TINGS” menu), practical for one-handed operation of the multiMAUS
  • Pressing the Shift button and the MENU button simultaneously.

Control of a locomotive is not possible while the multiMAUS is in menu mode. However, internal communication with another multiMAUS or other DCC devices is ensured.
Roco Z21Maus Digital Multi Scale - THE MENUSA ticker program integrated into the multiMAUS displays all menu names that have more than 5 letters as running text. In the display images in this manual, the menu name is abbreviated; the complete name is found directly below the image.
Use an arrow button to go to the menu level. Use the Light / OK button to call up the respective submenu.
The menus are all numbered; you will fi nd the numbers at the bottom of the display.
For clear identifi cation of the three large main menus, they each have their own pictograms that appear in addition to the “MENU” lettering. You will also fi nd them in the respective sub-menus:

  • Menu 1 “LOC”: Symbol “ ”,

  • Menu 2 “PROGRAM”: “Prog” lettering,

  • Menu 3 “SETTINGS”: Symbol “ ”.
    You have two options for leaving the menu level:

  • Pressing the STOP button. You may have to do this several times depending on which sub-menu you are in. Each time you press STOP you go back one level.

  • Pressing the MENU button (with or without the Shift button) returns you immediately to loco-motive or turnout mode from all levels (but not if you are currently making an entry).

  • If you move within the menu level (always from top to bottom in this overview), you can reach the individual menus by pressing one of the two arrow buttons.
  • By pressing the Light / OK button, you always call up a menu item (always from left to right in this overview) and can make entries or changes there.
  • If the display shows you one of the three main menus, you can also call up the desired menu item by simply pressing the corresponding number with the function buttons.
  • Pressing the STOP button always takes you back one level.

To protect you, for instance, against incorrect calls or incorrect entries: An entry made in a menu item is not confi rmed by pressing the STOP button.
Always program on a programming track that is completely separated from the rest of the system (exception: You have changed the multiMAUS to POM mode, see chapter 3.1.7. on page 64).

3.1. The “Loc” menu
In the “Loc” menu, the multiMAUS manages all data required for the locomotive library and identifi cation of a locomotive. You can also in principle set the multiMAUS to library or address mode here.
3.1.1. “NEW”
You can use this menu item to add a locomotive to the library. The procedure is basically the same as described and illustrated in chapter 3.3 on page 66.
In the fi rst step, enter the name of the locomotive for which you have 5 digits available. The fi rst image of the display shows a fl ashing insertion mark for this purpose. Using the function buttons, you can now enter the name of the locomotive (letters and / or numbers) like using a mobile phone keypad. Once you have entered a letter / a digit, wait a moment until the insertion point jumps to the next position.
You get black spaces by pressing the “0”. Use left arrow button for corrections.

  • Confi rm with the Light / OK button.
  • In the next screen, enter the locomotive address using the function buttons. You can simply overwrite the fl ashing “3”. By pressing the Shift button and one of the arrow buttons at the same time, you can also select the locomotive address by performing a search.
  • Confi rm with the Light / OK button.
  • Selection of the speed steps in the next image is done using the arrow buttons. (3 options).
  • Press the Light / OK button to confi rm the entry and complete the programming.
  • The multiMAUS goes directly back to locomotive mode from menu mode.

3.1.2. “EDIT”
You can change the data of a locomotive in the library with this menu item.
If, for example, only the locomotive address must be changed but the designation and speed steps should remain unchanged, you can skip these points without editing by pressing the Light / OK button.
The fi rst image shows the last locomotive used in locomotive mode. Use the arrow buttons to select the locomotive you want to change.

  • Confi rm with the Light / OK button.
  • You now have the option to change the designation of the locomotive. The insertion marks flashes in the last place. Use the left arrow button to delete the letters / numbers and enter them again using the function buttons.
  • Confi rm with the Light / OK button.
  • The locomotive address is corrected as described above.
  • Confi rm with the Light / OK button.
  • The speed buttons are corrected with the arrow buttons.
  • Confi rm with the Light / OK button. You get back to the initial “EDIT” level.

**** Changing a locomotive address in the library has no effect on the address stored in the locomotive decoder. This can only be changed with “CV1”. Observe „Quick programming“ on page 57 here.

3.1.3. “DELETE”
You can use this menu item to remove a locomotive from the library.
The fi rst image shows the last locomotive used in locomotive mode. Use the arrow buttons to select the locomotive to be removed.

  • Confi rm with the Light / OK button.
  • In the next screen, the “?DELETE?” ticker appears.
  • Confi rm with deletion process again using the Light / OK button. You will then be returned to the initial “DELETE” level.

The locomotive is removed from the library and, if it is still running, is automatically stopped (selective emergency stop). Until the locomotive is added to the library again, control is only possible in Locomotive address mode.
3.1.4. “SEARCH”
This could be an important function of your multiMAUS. You can use this menu item to assign a locomotive address to the respective locomotive in the library.
Simply enter a locomotive address with the function buttons and the multiMAUS will search for the corresponding locomotive from the library.

  • Press the Light / OK button to confi rm the entry. ThemultiMAUS goes directly back into locomotive mode and displays the assigned locomotive.

If the multiMAUS does not fi nd a suitable locomotive for the locomotive address, “ERR 9” is shown in the display. Press the STOP button or the Light / OK button to return to the initial “SEARCH” level.
3.1.5. “SEND”
3.1.6. “RECEIVE”
You need these two menu items if you want to transfer the locomotive library of one multiMAUS to another multiMAUS (or several multiMAUS units. To do this, set one transmitter multiMAUS to “SEND”, the other multiMAUS or several multiMAUS units to “RECEIVE”. Press the Light / OK button on the transmitter multiMAUS to start transmission. The receiver multiMAUS is in library mode after transmission is complete, the transmitter multiMAUSis on the initial “SEND” level.
3.1.7. “MODE”
You can control a locomotive either from the library mode preset at the factory or simply with the locomotive address. You can select which of the settings you prefer using this menu item.

You simply select the corresponding mode using one of the arrow buttons. These modes are displayed as running text.

  • Confi rm with the Light / OK button. You will then be returned to the initial “MODE” level.

3.2. The “Programming” menu
All values of a decoder (NMRA / DCC) are stored in so-called confi guration variables, the CVs. You can adjust these values to your needs using the “PROGRAMMING” menu.
** Before a new value can be written, the current value is read from the decoder installed in the locomotive and displayed. The read-out process can be interrupted by briefl y pressing the Z21 Stop button. Decoders already installed in locomotives by ROCO are delivered with practical settings. That is why you should check whether it is really necessary before doing any programming.
Programming must be done on a separate programming track, unless only one digital locomotive or one turnout decoder is connected to the Z21 via the tracks or other wiring or the multiMAUS is set to “POM” mode. If programming is carried out on the normal track and there is more than one digital locomotive on the track (or also other turnout decoders than ROCO items 42624 and 10775), a programming command changes the settings of all decoders in the system. So, for instance, you could accidentally program all decoders to the same locomotive address.
3.2.1. “CHANGE CV”**
Here you can read CVs (see above) or add new values. The fi rst image of the display shows the term “CV” and a fl ashing insertion marker. You can now enter the number of the desired CV using the function buttons.

  • Confi rm with the Light / OK button. The displayed value is read out and displayed by the decoder. If you only want to read out, exit the menu item using STOP.
  • Now enter the new value and confi rm with the Light / OK button. The display briefl y jumps to “PROG” before you return to the initial “CHANGE CV” level.

3.2.2. “LONG ADDRESS”
Only locomotive addresses from 1–99 can be stored in CV1. All locomotive addresses from 100 must be programmed with this menu item. To do this, it is necessary to enable “long addresses” in the locomotive decoder using CV29 (follow the decoder instructions!).
When you call up this menu item, “CV 17 / 18” is briefl y displayed. The display then immediately jumps to the address stored for the last locomotive used – with “L” in front and fl ashing value.
You can now enter the desired address using the function buttons. The digit(s) of the displayed value disappears when the fi rst digit is entered.

  • Confi rm with the Light / OK button. The display briefl y jumps to “PROG” before you return to the initial “LONG ADDRESS” level.

3.2.3. “MODE”
The multiMAUS is set to “CV programming mode” at the factory. However, if you want to pro-gram locomotives without having to use a separate programming track, set the multiMAUS to “POM” (“Programming on the Main”) mode.
This allows you to program a locomotive on the system whose address has been set on the multiMAUS. It may be necessary to reset the decoder. Also observe „Tips, notes and quick help“ on page 77 here. CV1 (address) of the locomotive to be programmed is not programmable in “POM” mode.
Use one of the two arrow buttons to select the desired programming mode.

  • Confi rm with the Light / OK button. You will then be returned to the initial “MODE” level.

3.3. The “Settings” menu
The most comprehensive menu of the multiMAUS contains all the data that is practical, useful or sometimes necessary for basic operation of the multiMAUS. We would also like to point out here that the multiMAUS has already been provided with all the necessary settings at the factory, meaning that you rarely or never have to use this main menu.
3.3.1. “DISPLAY”
Here you will fi nd all the setting options that affect the display.
3.3.1.1. The “ILLUMINATION” sub-item controls the intensity of the display backlighting, which is particularly useful in dark rooms. Use the arrow buttons to select the desired strength.
Value range: 0 (Off) – 15, factory setting: 15

  • Confi rm the entry with the Light / OK button. You will then be returned to the initial “ILLUMINATION” level.

3.3.1.2. The second “CONTRAST” sub-item controls the contrast of the display. Here, too, the value is selected using the arrow buttons.
Value range: 0 (very weak) – 15 (very dark), factory setting: 12

  • Confi rm the entry with the Light / OK button. You will then be returned to the initial “CONTRAST” level.

3.3.2. “OPERATION”
You can make individual settings for operating the multiMAUS here.
Normally, the multiMAUS is delivered in the language customary in the country. However, another language can be called up using the “LANGUAGE” sub-menu. Use the arrow button to select your language version. If your language is not there, take a look at the ROCO homepage www.roco.cc to see if there is an update option.

  • Confi rm with the Light / OK button. You will then be returned to the initial “LANGUAGE” level.

3.3.2.1. The “MENU BUTTON TIME” is the time you have to press the MENU button to get from driving mode to the menu mode of the multiMAUS. You can set the desired duration in seconds using the arrow buttons.

Value range: 0 – 10, factory setting: 5
With a value of “0”, the multiMAUS menu mode can only be accessed by pressing the Shift and MENU buttons at the same time.

  • Confi rm with the Light / OK button. You will then be returned to the initial “MENU BUTTON TIME” level.

3.3.2.2. “MOMENT FUNCTIONS” is used to switch on locomotive functions (F1– F20, e.g. the horn on a sound locomotive or a digital coupler) as long as the button is pressed by pressing the respective function button (for at least 1 second).

  • If you press the button only briefl y, the desired function is switched on normally.

Select the desired state using the arrow buttons.
Factory setting: OFF

  • Confi rm with the Light / OK button. You get back to the initial “MOMENT FUNCTION” level.

3.3.2.3. The multiMAUS has a “CHILD LOCK” that can be adjusted on multiple levels and ac-tivated after calling up the menu item using the arrow buttons. To lock an area, a code (4 digits – no letters) must be entered. The code is requested if you want to call up a locked area of the multiMAUS.
Factory setting: OFF

  • “LOCK MENU”: The three main menus cannot be called up.
  • “LOCK MENU PRG”: The quick programming mode is also locked.
  • “LOCK LIBRARY MENU PRG”: In addition to the points mentioned above, all chang- es to the locomotive library are also prevented.
  • Each entry must be confi rmed with the Light / OK button.

3.3.2.4. “SMARTSEARCH” helps you fi nd locomotive addresses (more on this in the „Glossary“ on page 75).
Factory setting: ON

  • Confi rm the selection made with an arrow button with the Light / OK button. You will then be returned to the initial “SMARTSEARCH” level.

3.3.3. “X-BUS”
“X-BUS” is the connection language used by digital components such as the multiMAUS to communicate with each other. In the two “ADDRESS” and “AUTOMATIC” sub-items, a professional user can change all the information and settings (more on this in the „Glossary“ on page 75).
We would like to point out that normally no settings have to be made in this menu item. This may only be necessary if the multiMAUS is used in combination with digital devices from other manufacturers.
3.3.3.1. After calling up the “ADDRESS” sub-item, the current X-BUS address is displayed. You can simply overwrite it.
Value range: 0 – 31, factory setting: 27 (only master multiMAUS)

  • Confi rm with the Light / OK button. You get back to the initial “ADDRESS” level.

3.3.3.2. “AUTOMATIC” does exactly what it should do: It automatically searches a digital system for a free X-BUS address for the multiMAUS.
Factory setting: ON

  • Confi rm the selection made with an arrow button with the Light / OK button. You will then be returned to the initial “AUTOMATIC” level.

3.3.4. “SPEED STEPS”
The speed steps with which the multiMAUS controls the locomotive decoders is preset in this menu item (more on the topic of “speed levels” in „Glossary“ on page 75).
Please refer to the associated operating instructions for which speed steps your decoder can process.
You can choose between 14, 28 and 128 speed steps using the arrow buttons.
Factory setting: 28

  • Confi rm with the Light / OK button. You get back to the initial “SPEED STEPS” level.

3.3.5. “RESET”
Since it is a very user-friendly digital control, you can reset the multiMAUS to the factory settings not only completely, but also in parts.
“CANCEL” is the emergency exit function from this menu item, so to say.
Resetting the “SYSTEM SETTINGS” sets all entries in the “Settings” menu back to the factory state. The locomotive library is retained. If calibration has been performed (see 3.3.5.4.), it must be performed again after the reset.
3.3.5.1. If you want to delete the “LIBRARY”, select this sub-item.
3.3.5.2. If you select “SPEED STEPS”, the selection made in 3.3.4. is reset to the factory value.
3.3.5.3. With “ALL” you reset your multiMAUS completely to the original state. All entries ever made are deleted.
3.3.5.4. You do not normally have to “CALIBRATE” the multiMAUS, this is done on delivery. Due to extreme temperature fl uctuations, however, the speed controller may have to be readjusted, for instance, if a locomotive is running in the zero position. Proceed as follows:

  • You will see “START?” as the fi rst screen of this sub-item. Confi rm with the Light / OK button.
    “LEFT” appears in the display.

  • Turn the speed controller to the left as far as it will go. Confi rm with the Light / OK button.
    “CENTRE” appears in the display.

  • Turn the speed controller to the centre (zero position) and confi rm with the Light / OK button.
    “RIGHT” appears in the display.

  • Turn the speed controller to the right as far as it will go. After confi rming with the Light / OK button,
    you will return to the initial “RESET” level.

3.3.6. “STOP MODE”
In the event of an emergency, an immediate emergency stop is triggered by pressing the STOP button while the vehicle is in motion. In the “STOP MODE” menu item, you can defi ne the impact of this emergency stop.
3.3.6.1. “VOLTAGE OFF”: The entire system is separated from the voltage supply.
3.3.6.2. “EMERGENCY STOP” All locomotives immediately stop and the voltage supply remains on. Regardless of this setting, you can always trigger a “selective emergency stop” that only affects the selected locomotive. Also observe „The emergency stop functions“ on page 54 here.
Factory setting: VOLTAGE OFF

  • Confi rm with the Light / OK button. You will then be returned to the initial “STOP MODE” level.

3.3.7. “INFO”
A menu item that informs you about the software version (“SOFTWARE”), the X-BUS type (“X-BUS”) and the control unit currently used as master (“CONTROL CENTRE”). Press the arrow button to call up the desired information. Press the Light / OK button to return to the previous level.

APPENDIX

4.1. Compatibility of the multiMAUS
4.1.1. ROCO hardware
All ROCO digital devices based on the X-BUS can be combined with the multiMAUS. This primarily includes the Z21 control centres as well as the black Z21 10820 and 10834, the Z21 XL 10870 and the white Z21 as well as the z21start from the start sets from ROCO and FLEISCHMANN.
In addition, the multiMAUS with fi rmware version V1.xx is also backwards compatible with older, but no longer available, components from ROCO. This includes:

  • multiZENTRALEpro (“RocoNet” socket).

4.1.2. Third-party systems
The multiMAUS is compatible with XpressNet systems such as the Lenz Digital Plus system with some restrictions. For control centres from other manufacturers that try to imitate the X-BUS of the ROCO control centres, we can neither promise smooth operation nor provide support.
4.2. Locomotives without digital decoders and the multiMAUS
Locomotives without decoders cannot be used with the multiMAUS. Due to the completely different voltage supply of the locomotive, the use of a decoder- less locomotive leads to a very disturbing, high-frequency noise. There is also a risk that the motors will be damaged.
** Under no circumstances should you connect a normal transformer to the same circuit in parallel to the digital control. This will destroy the Z21!
You can also retrofi t existing locomotives with a locomotive decoder. For ROCO locomotives with a digital interface, this is very quick and easy because the decoder only has to be attached to a plug-in socket inside the locomotive. Mechanical work on these locomotives is not necessary because the space for the decoder is also already provided. Installation of the decoder is also described in the instructions for these locomotives.
Locomotives from other manufacturers can also be equipped with ROCO locomotive decoders. If you have a digital interface, then conversion is just as easy as with a ROCO locomotive. If you would like to install the last controlled locomotive decoder, e.g.: 10884, then the locomotive must have a DC motor or the existing universal motor must be rebuilt into a DC motor before conversion.
4.3. multiMAUS updates up to version V1.05
Since the start of production of the multiMAUS, several fi rmware updates have been released. The following improvements have been incorporated up to multiMAUS fi rmware version V1.05:
4.3.1. Confi guration variables from CV1 to CV1024**
As of fi rmware version V1.03, the address range for the confi guration variables has been ex- tended from CV1 to CV1024.

4.3.2. Read CV POM confi guration variables
With fi rmware version V1.04, confi guration variables CV1 to CV1024 can also be read out on the main track of the control centre. This feature can be used with the Z21 if the RailCom is activated in the control centre and the addressed decoder supports POM reading.
With 10806 single BOOSTER and 10807 dual BOOSTER, these decoders can even be read in the BOOSTER section if the boosters are connected to the Z21 via CAN.
4.3.3. Locomotive functions F0 to F28
With fi rmware version V1.05, the switchable DCC locomotive functions can be extended from F0 to F28.
Briefl y double-clicking the Shift button causes the symbol to fl ash.
Then the state of F21–F28 is indicated by “1” – “8” and can be changed.
Press the Shift button again to exit this display.

4.4. multiMAUS Update Version V2.00
With the new X-BUS protocol version V4.0, the multiMAUS update from fi rmware version V2.00 onwards not only has improvements for operation with the Z21, but also contains corrections for use with XpressNet remote control centres from other manufacturers.

  • DCC locomotive functions from F0 to F31
  • Turnouts from 1 to 2048
  • “Catch function” of the rotary control like with the WLANMAUS
  • Change of driving direction when stationary
  • New “LOC” stop mode
  • New “CLUB” mode

The description for performing the fi rmware update for the multiMAUS (ROCO 10810, ROCO 10835 and FLEISCHMANN 686810) can be found in the Z21 Maintenance Tool User Manual, section 3.7. multiMAUS update (https://www.Z21.eu/de/produkte/Z21-maintenance-tool).

WARNING: In order to accommodate the new features in the limited program memory of the multiMAUS, the X-BUS master and DCC master had to be removed. This means that from version V2.00, the multiMAUS can only be used on the “slave” socket of the digital amplifi er (ROCO 10761, ROCO 10764) which is no longer available. However, with control centres with complete features, this does not result in any disadvantages.
4.4.1. DCC locomotive functions from F0 to F31
With multiMAUS fi rmware version V2.00, the switchable DCC locomotive functions can be extended from F0 to F31. The entire range form F0 to F31 can be used with the Z21 from FW V1.42 or on control centres from other manufacturers with XpressNet V4.0. While (as you already know) you can switch to menu mode by holding down the Shift button and pressing the MENU button, holding down the MENU button and pressing the Shift button now opens the selection of the desired function group in reverse order:

  • Select “FG3” to see or change the state from F31.
    The symbol now fl ashes three times in succession, followed by a short pause.
    The state of F31 is indicated by the function symbols “1” and can be changed.

  • Select “FG2” to see or change the state of F21 to F30.
    The symbol now fl ashes twice in succession, followed by a short pause.
    The state of F21 to F30 is indicated by the function symbols “1” – “10” and can be changed.
    Alternatively, the function group for F21 to F30 can also be selected as usual by briefly double-clicking the – button.

  • Select “FG1” to see or change the state from F11 to F20.
    The symbol now remains permanently visible.
    The state of F11 to F20 is indicated by the function symbols “1” – “10” and can be changed.
    Alternatively, the function group for F11 to F20 can also be reached as usual by holding down the Shift button.

  • Select “FG0” to see or change the state from F1 to F10. The symbol is then hidden.
    The state of F1 to F10 is indicated by the function symbols “1” – “10” and can be changed.
    By briefl y pressing the Shift button, you can exit the currently selected function group at any time in normal driving mode and return to the lowest level (F1 to F10).
    The multiMAUS automatically detects how many DCC locomotive functions the control centre can manage. The function groups “FG1”, “FG2” or “FG3” are only offered in the selection menu if the control centre is actually capable of these high locomotive functions.

4.4.2. Turnouts from 1 to 2048
With multiMAUS fi rmware version V2.00, you can switch up to 2048 DCC turnouts. The range from 1 to 2048 can be used with the Z21 from FW V1.42 or the control centres with XpressNet from V3.8.
The multiMAUS automatically detects whether it can offer 1024 or 2048 turnouts based on the bus protocol version of the control centre.

Feature table for turnouts with multiMAUS fi rmware V2.00
INFORMATION: In RailCommunity standard RCN-213, the highest turnout addresses are reserved for special functions (emergency stop command). We therefore recommend using only the range 1 to 2040 for turnouts and signals.

4.4.3. “Catch function” of the rotary control
multiMAUS fi rmware version V2.00 also includes an optional “catch function” for the rotary control as already known from the WLANMAUS. Holding the MENU button and pressing the “0” button opens the catch sensitivity selection, which can be used to activate the catch function for the speed controller.
As a result, if the speed controller does not match the current speed step, e.g. when switching to the locomotive library, the setting on the speed controller is not immediately applied and sent to the locomotive as a speed command. Instead, the speed controller must fi rst “capture” the current speed step by means of a corresponding rotational movement, whereby the direction of rotation is indicated by a fl ashing direction arrow. The closer the speed controller gets to the current speed step, the faster the arrow fl ashes until a match is reached. As soon as the arrow is displayed normally again (without fl ashing), the locomotive travels at the new speed set using the speed controller.
In other words: The fl ashing arrow indicates where to move the speed controller to “catch” the locomotive with the speed controller. This is a simple way to prevent undesirable speed changes when changing locomotives with the multiMAUS.
The “catch sensitivity”, i.e. how close the speed controller must come to the current speed step until the locomotive “adopts” the set speed, can be set in 10 steps. You can set the desired sensitivity in steps using the arrow buttons.
Value range: OFF, 1 to 10 (highest sensitivity); recommended for fi rst attempts: 5 (medium) Factory setting: OFF

  • Confi rm the selection with the OK button to return to normal driving mode.

4.4.4. Change of driving direction when stationary
From multiMAUS fi rmware version V2.00, you can hold down the Shift button while operating the rotary control to suppress evaluation and acceptance of the set speed step. This means changing the driving direction is possible when the locomotive is at a standstill, e.g. to change the locomotive light in the train station area without starting up.
4.4.5. “LOC” stop mode
In the “SETTINGS” | “STOP MODE” sub-menu, there is a new “LOC” option in addition to “VOLTAGE OFF” and “EMERGENCY STOP” from multiMAUS fi rmware version V2.00.
In the “LOC” stop mode, only the locomotive currently controlled by the multiMAUS is stopped when pressing the STOP button. Turning the speed controller can cancel this selective locomotive stop and the locomotive will run again.
With the “LOC” stop mode, the multiMAUS can, for example, be handed over to a visitor without it being able to disturb system operation by accidentally pressing the STOP button.
4.4.6. “CLUB” mode
In the “SETTINGS” | “OPERATION” | “CHILD LOCK” sub-menu there is a new “CLUB” option as of multiMAUS fi rmware version V2.00. The so-called “CLUB” mode can be activated in this way.
In “CLUB” mode, only the preset locomotive can be controlled and its functions F0 to F31 can be switched. The “STOP” button can only be used to stop the preset locomotive. All other options of the multiMAUS are locked.
Thanks to the “CLUB” mode, operation of the system can no longer be disturbed intentionally or accidentally, and no one can “take away” someone else’s locomotive with the multiMAUS.
A four-digit code is assigned for activating “CLUB” mode. This code is required to deactivate the “CLUB” mode. Make a note of this code, because it cannot be bypassed with any button combination. If you forget the code, only a fi rmware update of the multiMAUS (e.g. via a Z21) can help.
4.4.7. Operation with control centres from other manufacturers
multiMAUS fi rmware version V2.00 also contains corrections for use with control centres from other manufacturers. This mainly concerns compatibility for XpressNet communication concerning reading and writing of CV1 to CV1024, broadcast messages, as well as the higher locomotive functions via F12.
In the case of control centres from other manufacturers with XpressNet, the multiMAUS automatically detects which features can be made available to the user based on the XpressNet protocol version of the control centre.

WARNING: Our compatibility tests with control centres from other manufacturers have been carried out exclusively with XpressNet. However, some manufacturers of cheap control centres have more or less successfully tried to imitate the X-BUS of ROCO devices on their own. For these types of control centres from other manufacturers, we can neither promise smooth operation nor provide support. In case of incompatibilities, contact the manufacturer of the control centre.

4.5. Glossary
4.5.1. Decoder
To make the digital control signals of the multiMAUS comprehensible to the “conventional” technology of a locomotive, a “translator” is needed – the decoder. It does not replace any of the components in the analogue DC current locomotive, but is a necessary addition and space must also be found for it in the locomotive housing. For AC current locomotives, on the other hand, the switching module or relay is replaced by the decoder; this is naturally not in DCC format, but in Motorola format.
4.5.2. CVs
All values which infl uence the behaviour of the locomotive decoder – and therefore the behaviour of the locomotive – are saved in so-called CVs. CV is the abbreviation for confi guration variables. Since the multiMAUS and the Z21 are compatible with the NMRA / DCC standard, they can read and write these CVs.
** With ROCO amplifi ers 10761 and 10764 and boosters 10762 and 10765 it is no longer possible to read out the CV of a decoder! Only fi ctitious suggested values are displayed.
CVs can have a value range from “0” up to “255”. This makes it clear that reprogramming requires experience, as incorrectly set CVs can affect the behaviour of the decoder.
4.5.3. Speed steps
In a conventional model railway, a regulating transformer is used to control the locomotive. The transformer uses the speed controller to output voltage values between 0 volts and the maximum voltage (usually between 12 and 16 volts), which control the locomotive motor.
In contrast, in a digital system, fi xed voltage is applied to the track from the outset. Here, the motor is controlled with control signals that the decoder converts into voltage values. Since these signals consist of ones and zeros, they are graduated. The smaller the steps – speed steps – are, the more fi nely the locomotive can be regulated. The NMRA / DCC standard which the multiMAUS operates in compliance with knows 14, 27, 28 or 128 speed steps.
Modern decoders (since about the year 2000) can be controlled in at least 28 speed steps.
They automatically adjust to the number of speed steps set in the locomotive control, meaning the multiMAUS, so that you do not have to worry about making a setting in the decoder. You can check the respective instructions to determine whether your decoders support automatic speed stage setting or which speed stages your decoders accept.
4.5.4. Smart Search function
The multiMAUS has a Smart Search function that helps you fi nd a locomotive. This function is available both in library mode and in locomotive address mode.
Each locomotive address you call up during operation is entered in the internal Smart Search list. If you search for a locomotive by pressing an arrow button, the search stops briefl y at each locomotive in this list. This helps you fi nd locomotives you have used very quickly.
A maximum of 32 locomotives can be added to the list of Smart Search addresses; this makes sense for a minimum of one locomotive. The oldest locomotive is removed from the Smart Search list if you have called up more locomotives than there is space for in this list. You can delete all Smart Search addresses by restarting the system (disconnect the power supply or unplug the master multiMAUS).
You can activate the Smart Search function using the “Operation” menu item (see 3.3.2. on page 66).
4.5.5. Z21 and booster**
They supply the model railway system with the necessary voltage and forward the digital control signals of the multiMAUS to locomotives, turnouts and other digital accessories.
The Z21 centrally manages all control commands and other information (therefore also digital control centre Z21). The Z21 also generates the digital rail system (and much more).

4.5.6. X-BUS
The X-BUS is the connection between the digital components (multiMAUS, Z21, BOOSTER, in-terface, etc.) that not only ensures the power supply, but is also responsible for data exchange.
The master mouse always has a fi xed address, other devices automatically search for free addresses so that you normally do not have to set anything.
4.6. Tips, notes and quick help

Library or locomotive address mode: Selected locomotive does not react.| • Does the locomotive address in the library match the address stored in the locomotive decoder?
• Emergency stop or selective emergency stop initiated?
• Select another address in locomotive address mode.

Turnouts react incorrectly or turnout set- ting does not match in the display.| • Turn plug on turnout drive.
POM mode: Programming is confirmed, but the decoder does not react to a changed value.| • Decoder requires a reset: Switch the track voltage off and on again with the “STOP” (emergency stop) button. Also observe the decoder instructions here.
** It is not possible to reset ( 3.3.5. on page 68 ) the multiMAUS.| • In this case, it helps to unplug the cable and press the Shift and MENU buttons at the same time when plugging it in again.
• This completely resets the multiMAUS to the factory settings. Since this also deletes the locomotive library, this step should be considered carefully.
Scrolling in locomotive address mode is sluggish or does not work at all.| There is a problem with the X-BUS. Switch the system off, then back on again. If necessary, check whether the set- ting is “Automatic” in the
3.3.2.** menu item. Two devices may have the same X-BUS address.

4.7. Lokmaus 2 / R3 – multiMAUS PROGRAMMING HELP
In the manuals delivered so far for ROCO digital items (such as the 42624 turnout drive), only the standard programming mode with locomotive mouse 2 / R3 was described. In the following you will fi nd a table that compares the programming process of the Lokmaus 2 / R3 with the quick programming function (see 2.6.on page 57) of the multiMAUS.
For more information, see the locomotive mouse 2 / R3 manual. Observe the instructions supplied with the decoder to program the CV29.

Changing the speed steps|

You will fi nd many tips and information about model railway electrical and digital systems in the large ROCO electrics manual, item number 82071, which you can obtain as a CD-ROM from specialist dealers.
The ROCO ROCOMOTION system control also offers a variety of options, including ones that work together with the multiMAUS. Information about ROCOMOTION is available from specialist dealers or at www.roco.cc.

4.8. Error messages
ERR 1: Programming is not supported.
ERR 2: No confi rmation was received from the decoder during programming / readout.
Check whether connection to the decoder is disturbed by contaminated tracks or wheel contacts. If necessary, re-rail the locomotive.
Check whether a capacitor is installed somewhere in the track system.
ERR 3: A short circuit has occurred during programming / reading.
Check whether the locomotive has been correctly re-railed and that the wiring does not have any faults.
It is possible that the locomotive is standing on a polarised frog (the turnout position, how-ever, does not correspond to the route of the locomotive).
It is possible that the decoder is not correctly connected with a newly converted locomotive.
ERR 4: Not possible in “POM” mode.
This error occurs when the multiMAUS has been changed to “POM” mode (see 3.2.3.on page 66) and CV1 (locomotive address) has to be programmed. Program the CV1 on a separate programming track in “CV mode” (see chapter 3.2.3. on page 66).
ERR 5: Programming mode is active.
ERR 6: Not possible because the track voltage is off (occurs in “POM” mode).
ERR 7: The library is empty (“LOC” – “DELETE” menu).
ERR 8: The library is full (e.g. when entering a new locomotive).
You can save a maximum of 64 locomotives in the library. Control the locomotive using loco-motive address mode or use another multiMAUS.
ERR 9: The locomotive was not found (“LOC” – “SEARCH” menu).
The locomotive address is not yet assigned in the library.
ERR 10: A locomotive with the same address already exists (when entering a new locomotive into the locomotive library).
ERR 11: The address of the locomotive is outside the valid value range.
For example, you are using a Lokmaus 2 as a master which only supports 99 locomotive addresses.
ERR 12: X-BUS does not support the XpressNet version.
The multiMAUS only supports XpressNet from version 3.0.
ERR 13: No XpressNet master was found.
This error message indicates an error in XpressNet communication.
This can be caused by various reasons:

  1. Damage to the connection cable (cable break).

  2. Damage to the connection sockets (depressed contact springs with multiMAUS or Z21 system).

  3. Defective circuit board component (communication component for XpressNet damaged in multiMAUS or Z21 system).

  4. Z21 runs in bootloader mode (blue and green status LED light up simultaneously)
    Solution: Z21 fi rmware update).

  5. Digital amplifi er 10764 or 10761: There is a problem with the device connected to the master output. Unplug the device, then plug it back in. If the error is still not corrected, check the X-BUS address.

ERR 14: The calibration values are invalid.
The speed controller must be recalibrated. When doing so, observe 3.3.5.4. on page 68.
ERR 98: No resources (language package with the display texts) available.
ERR 99: No valid fi rmware available.

These two errors (98, 99) can occur when a multiMAUS fi rmware update or the update of the language package with the multiMAUS display texts is interrupted. However, the bootloader in the multiMAUS responsible for the update process remains functional.
With a Z21 system, the problem can be solved by updating the multiMAUS again. Information on this and the required software can be found at www.Z21.eu. If you use the predecessor systems of the Z21 (e.g. digital amplifi er 10764), we recommend that you consult a specialist shop or a repair workshop.
For ERR 99: You have to start the multiMAUS fi rmware update again until the update process runs completely for the multiMAUS to be fully functional again.
An ERR 98 can be fi xed by overwriting the language package again. Roco
