- Keep away from fire and heat sources. Cigarette butts should not be left on the floor. High power electrical appliances, kettle, stove and other high-temperature objects cannot be directly placed on the floor, which has a certain safety risk.
- It is not recommended to use wax on vinyl planks as this can cause a slip hazard.
- When cutting the flooring, some dust may be produced. Wear protective gloves and dust mask for protection.
CAUTION
- Do not install on radiant-heated subfloors with the surface temperature over 29℃.
- STYLE SELECTIONS TM is designed for interior use only, do not use it outdoors.
- Don’t install on any area where the flooring will receive long-term exposure to direct sunlight, such as sunroom.
- It is recommended to maintain the service area with a temperature of 10-35℃, exceeding which may accelerate the product aging. Do not install on any area where temperature may be lower than 10℃ or higher than 35℃, such as unheated dwellings(cabins, cottages, three-seasons rooms, porches, mobile homes or unheated porches.)
- Protect furniture and chair legs with proper cushion or caps. Avoid using latex or rubber cushions, which may cause discoloration.
- When handling household appliances or heavy furniture, use hard board or backing plate to protect the floor. This prevents the flooring from scratching and tearing.
- Do not allow pets with unclipped nails to walk on the vinyl floor. It could cause severe scratching to the surface.
- Protect your floor against burns. Burns from the glowing end of a cigarette, matches, or other extremely hot items can damage the floors.
- Avoid exposure to direct sunlight for prolonged periods. During peak sunlight hours, the use of the drapes or blinds is recommended.
- Always check the cartons to assure the pattern number is correct on all cartons to ensure proper color match.
- Condition all the floorings in the service area between 15 ℃ and 30 ℃ for 24 hours before installation, during installation and 24 hours after installation. Please note that the cartons should be laid flat on the subfloor.
- Check all planks before and during installation. Defective planks must never be used.
- To minimize shade variation, mix and install product from several different cartons.
- Leave an expansion joint of minimum 4-5 mm on all sides of the floor, around pipes, thresholds, under doors and around any fixed or stationary objects (floor vents, kitchen islands, etc).
PREPARATION
Before beginning assembly of product, make sure all parts are present. Compare
parts with package contents list and hardware contents list. If any part is
missing or damaged, do not attempt to assemble the product.
Estimated Assembly Time: 5-10 minutes.
Tools Required for Assembly (not included): Chalk, pencil or mark pen, square
rule, hand-hold saw, utility knife, rubber mallet, pull bar, tape measure,
spacers, protective gloves.
PREPARING THE SUBFLOOR
-
Make sure that the subfloor is clean, dry and stable.
-
Make sure that the subfloor is flat within 0.1875” in a 10-foot span. Any large cracks or voids must be filled in with a suitable patch, underlayment, or embossing leveler.
-
Concrete floors
Practice for preparing concrete floors should comply with ASTM F710.
Concrete must be smooth, clean, flat, and free of dust and moisture. Remove all dust, dirt, grease and adhesive residue. Sweep and vacuum floor thoroughly. Fill all cracks and holes with a suitable patch, underlayment, or embossing leveler per manufacturer’s instructions. -
Wood Floors
Securely nail all loose boards. Scrape, plane or fill uneven boards with a suitable patch, underlayment, or embossing lever. If the surface is still not smooth, then we recommend installing a 0.25’’ underlayment panel over the wood subfloor. -
Old floor coverings
STYLE SELECTIONS TM may be installed directly over any clean, well- bonded, smooth surface. STYLE SELECTIONS TM may even be installed over ceramic planks as long as the surface is smooth, dust-free, and the grout lines and any other irregularities are filled with a suitable patch/ underlayment/ embossing leveler.
STYLE SELECTIONS TM should not be installed over heavily embossed planks unless the embossing has been filled in with a suitable patch, underlayment or embossing leveler.
STYLE SELECTIONS TM is unsuitable to install over existing foam-backed or cushion-backed flooring. STYLE SELECTIONS TM is not suitable to install over more than one layer of existing flooring, to prevent indentation or possible stress on the joints.
It is recommended to remove the existing floor before installing the STYLE SELECTIONS TM. RFCl’s Recommended Work Practices for Removal of Resilient Floor Coverings are a defined set of instructions addressed to the task of removing all resilient floor covering structures.
INSTALLATION OVERVIEW
- Draw the layout line with chalk to avoid the plank width against the wall is less than half of the width.
- Laying first plank in corner of room with tongue side facing wall using 4-5mm spaces.
- Installing the second plank.
- Cuting and installing the final plank in first row.
- Use offcut from previous row (optional).
- Installing additional planks in second row.
- Measure and cut final row of planks allowing for 4-5 mm expansion gap.
- Pull bar and rubber mallet can be used for final row of planks, ensuring a 4-5 mm expansion gap.
- A. Remove all spacers. Skirting boards or fitting edge trim is not included.
- B. When replacing skirting boards or fitting edge trim and any other items, for example furniture of shelving, these should never be fixed (such as fastened, screwed, or nailed) to the planks, or through the planks to the base – the floor must remain as a floating installation.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
- After installation, clean with a mop or vacuum cleaner. If water or cleaning fluid is required, make sure that the minimum is used to prevent fluid from penetrating into joints and expansion gaps. Do not pour pails of water on your floor to clean. Excessive water can cause damage to your subfloor.
- For dry maintenance, we recommend cleaning every day and a dust mop or vacuum cleaner with a soft bristle brush only.
- For wet maintenance, we recommend weekly or monthly use of a damp mop procedure with a diluted neutral detergent or with a regular vinyl cleaner. Avoid harsh cleaning products that may damage the floor and make sure to dry completely.
- Care should be taken to keep moisture from collecting on either side of vinyl floor to prevent the growth of mold and mildew. If your floor has been exposed to excessive water, for example by accident or flooding, remove the water as soon as possible by moping and ventilate the room. A dehumidifier should be promptly turned on in the room to reduce the moisture level to normal.
- In order to keep the appearance of the flooring, all spills should be wiped up immediately.
- It is not recommended to use wax on vinyl planks as this can cause a slip hazard.
- Avoid exposure to direct sunlight for prolonged periods. During peak sunlight hours, the use of the drapes or blinds is recommended.
- Place a suitable mat at outside entrances to reduce the amount of dirt, water and sand brought into your home.
