IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:

  • Read all instructions before use.

  • To disconnect, turn the appliance off, then remove plug from wall outlet.
  • Never pull on the cord to disconnect the appliance from the wall outlet; instead, grasp the plug and pull on the plug.
  • Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
  • Do not clean with metal scouring pads. Pieces can break off the pad and touch electrical parts involving a risk of electric shock.
  • Never leave the appliance unattended during operation.
  • To switch off and disconnect, press the ‘) ON/OFF Button, then remove Plug from wall outlet.
  • A fire may occur if the appliance is covered or touching flammable material, including curtains, draperies, walls, and the like, when in operation. Do not store any item on top of the appliance when in use.

WARNING

  • A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the risk resulting from it being grabbed by children, becoming entangled in, or tripping over a longer cord.
  • Extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use.
  • If an extension cord is used:
    • The marked electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating ofthe appliance.
    • If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a grounding 3-wire cord; and
    • The longer cord should be arranged so that it does not drape over the countertop or table top where it can be pulled on by children ortripped over.

Polarized plug
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way. Do not let children handle or put the electrical cord into their mouths.

OPERATION

Accessories
This appliance comes with inserts, to be used according to your needs and tastes.
CAUTION: Always use the funnel when brewing coffee. The funnel prevents spillage of hot coffee on the counter.

  • Use the Capsule Holder and place it in the Funnel, if you want to use a K-cup capsule to brew coffee.
  • Use the Ground Coffee Holder and place it in the Funnel, if you want to use ground coffee to brew coffee.

Control Panel
The Control Panel shows the appliance operational status. Refer to the related sections for more details.

Before first use
Remove all packaging materials and/or other transportation means. Check package content to verify it is complete and undamaged. Do not operat the appliance if the content is incomplete or appears damaged. Return it immediately to Wal mart.

Danger of suffocation!
Packaging materials are not toys. Always keep plastic bags, foils and foam parts away from babies and children. Packaging material could block airways and prevent breathing.

NOTE:

  • Always use the appliance with a suitable cup/mug and fully assembled.
  • The appliance may produce an odor and/or emit smoke when switched on for the first time, as residues from the production process are eliminated. This is normal and does not indicate a defect or hazard.
  • When using the appliance for the first time, it is recommended to operate it for at least two full cycles without coffee or a capsule until no odor or smoke is present.
  • During use, ensure ample ventilation.
  • Let the appliance cool completely.
  • Clean the appliance.

Using the appliance
This appliance can be used for brewing up to 14oz of coffee using ground coffee or K-cup capsules, according to the insert used. Use only fresh water and do not use any other liquids.

NOTE

  • Do not compress the ground coffee in the Ground Coffee Holder.
  • Do not use ground coffee for Espressos, as it is too fine and can clog the Ground Coffee Holder.

CAUTION

  • Do not touch the Needle on the underside of the Lid or inside the Capsule Holder, they are sharp.
  • Place the appliance on a clean, flat and heat resistant surface.
  • Lift the Release Lever to unlock the Lid.

There is CAUTION in important safeguards.

  1. When using the Ground Coffee Holder, Fill with ground coffee up to the MAX fill line. Do not overfill it. Insert the Ground Coffee Holder in the Funnel.Farberware-FW12-100024366-Coffee-Maker-FIG- \(7\)
  2. When using the Capsule Holder, insert a capsule in the Capsule Holder. Insert the Capsule Holder in the Funnel.
  3. Press the Lid down into the lockFarberware-FW12-100024366-Coffee-Maker-FIG- \(9\)
  4. position to close the Lid. Place the Drip Tray with Cup Holder in either the upper or lower Mounting Slots. Ensure it is securely in place when using the upper Mounting Slots and sits flat when using the lower Mounting Slots.
  5. Rinse the Water Reservoir with fresh cold water and fill to the MAX fill line.
  6. Securely place a cup/mug in the center of the Cup Holder.
  7. Insert the Plug into a wall outlet. The Display will show 06 oz All buttons, except for the ¢ ADD WATER Indicator, are on.

NOTE
The appliance has a rated power of 1200W. Before plugging it into the wall outlet, ensure that the electrical circuit is not overloaded with other appliances. This appliance should always be operated on a separate 120V- 60Hz wall outlet.

Brewing

  1. Press the SIZE Button until the desired volume appears on the Display. The brew volume will increase by 2oz with each press, from 6oz up to 14oz.
  2. Press either the K-cuP Button or GROUND Button to start the brewing process. The button pressed flashes during the brewing process. The ON/OFF Button is steady on and the Display shows the preset cup size.
  3. Once the brewing cycle is complete, the appliance switches to Operating mode. If no button is pressed within 3 minutes or if the ON/OFF Button is pressed, the appliance will switch to Standby mode.

CAUTION
To avoid the risk of injury, do not open the brew chamber during the brewing process.

NOTE
Alternatively, press the Button or Button according to the type of coffee to be brewed, instead of the Button. The appliance will start brewing immediately with the defauii cup size (6oz). The button pressed flashes during the brewing process. The ON/OFF Button is steady on and the Display shows 06 oz. – Press either the Button 6/ 00 Button or ON/OFF Button to stop the brewing process at any tire according to the type of coffee being brewed. The appliance will switch to Operating mode.

  • During the brewing process, pressing the Button will have no effect, as the set volume cannot be modified after brewing has started.
  • If the Water Reservoir is empty from the start or empties during the brewing process, the appliance switches to low water mode.
  • All Buttons, except for the ON/OFF Button, switch off and the Indicator flashes. The air pump is activated for 30 seconds (Low water warning).

Low water warning
The appliance is equipped with a safety feature switching the appliance to low water mode when the Water Reservoir is empty before the brewing process starts, or when the appliance runs out of water before the brewing process can be completed.

  1. AII Buttons, except for the ON/OFF Button, switch off and the .. Indicator flashes. The air pump is activated for 30 seconds.

  2. Fill the Water Reservoir with the required amount of fresh cold water and then refit the Water Reservoir with Lid afterwards.

  3. Press ON/OFF button switch the appliance to Operating mode.

  4. Press either the or Button to resume the paused brewing process, according to the type of coffee being brewed.

  5. The appliance will complete the cycle based on the preset cup size and amount of water already previously used.

  6. Press the Button until the desired volume appears on the Display. The brew volume will increase by 2oz with each press, from 6oz up to 14oz.

  7. Press either the Button or Button to start the brewing process. The button pressed flashes during the brewing process. The ON/OFF Button is steady on and the Display shows the preset cup size.

  8. Once the brewing cycle is complete, the appliance switches to Operating mode. If no button is pressed within 3 minutes or if the ON/OFF Button is pressed, the appliance will switch to Standby mode.

HINTS AND TIPS
It is recommended to avoid placing the appliance under cabinets, as rising steam can cause damage to wooden furniture. Empty the drip tray after each use to prevent it from overflowing. Use a suitable thermal cup/mug to keep your coffee hot for longer. Regularly clean the appliance. Always use fresh, cold water in the coffee maker. Store unused ground coffee in a cool, dry place. After opening a container of ground coffee, reseal it tightly and store it in a refrigerator to maintain its freshness. For an optimum coffee taste, buy whole coffee beans and finely grind them just before brewing. Do not reuse ground coffee since this will greatly reduce the coffee flavor. Reheating coffee is not recommended as coffee is at its peak flavor immediately after brewing.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Proper maintenance will ensure many years of service from your appliance. Clean the appliance after every use. The appliance contains no user serviceable parts and requires little maintenance. Leave any servicing or repairs to qualified personnel.

NOTE

  • Always disconnect the Plug from the wall outlet before cleaning. Allow all parts of the appliance to cool down completely.
  • The underside of the Lid and Capsule Holder contain sharp needles. Use caution when handling and during cleaning. Do not touch the needles.
  • Remove the Drip Tray with Cup Holder, Ground Coffee Holder, Capsule Holder and Funnel from the appliance. These parts can be washed in hot soapy water.
  • Wipe the seal on the needle on the underside of the Lid with a damp cloth. Do not remove the seal.
  • Clean all accessories after each use.
  • Clean the appliance housing, Lid and Funnel with a damp sponge or cloth.
  • All detachable accessories are dishwasher safe.

Descaling
To keep your appliance operating effectively, periodically descale your appliance to remove any build-up of lime scale.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

NOTE
The appliance is also equipped with an automatic brewing cycle counter. Once the counter reaches 300 cycles, the @ CLEAN Button will flash as a reminder to clean the appliance.  When the water system has excessive scale build-up, the appliance is still going to run, but due to the scaling, the flow rate will be slowed and the brewing cycle time will increase. We recommend removing lime scale deposits as follows:

  1. Remove the Water Reservoir from the appliance and remove the Reservoir Lid.

  2. Please use a household descaler. Fill the Water Reservoir with fresh water and descaler up to the 14oz marking on the Water Level Indicator. For details refer to the instructions of descaler.

  3. Put the Water Reservoir back on and place the Water Reservoir Lid onto the Water Reservoir the appliance.

  4. Ensure the Ground Coffee Holder/ Capsule Holder is placed in the Funnel without coffee or capsule and the Release Lever is placed in the lock position.

  5. Place the Drip Tray with Cup Holder in the lower Mounting Slots. Ensure it sits flat.

  6. Place a large mug onto the Cup Holder.

  7. Insert the Plug into a wall outlet.

  8. Press the ON/OFF Button to switch on the appliance. The Display shows 06 oz. All buttons, except for the Indicator, are on.

  9. Press and hold the for 2 seconds. The appliance will switch to Cleaning mode and tart pumping water.

  10. The CLEAN Button is flashing, and the Display shows 14 oz. All buttons, except for the Indicator, are on.

  11. The appliance will run for 5 cycles of 24 seconds each, alternating water pumping and resting time during each cycle.

  12. The cleaning cycle cannot be interrupted by any press of a button. The appliance will switch to Operating mode after running through the full cleaning process.

  13. Once the descaling cycle has finished, the air pump is activated for 10 seconds and the appliance will switch to Operating mode.

  14. Rinse the appliance by brewing 14oz of fresh water at least 3 times afterwards without coffee/ capsule in the Ground Coffee Holder/ Capsule Holder. Discard of the water each time.

  15. Disconnect the Plug from the wall outlet.
    NOTE

    • Alternatively, you can use white vinegar instead of household descaler. The ratio of water and white vinegar is 2:1.
    • Alternatively, you can clean the appliance prior to the automatic brewing cycle counter reaches 300 cycles, press and hold the Button for 2 seconds under Operating mode can switch to Cleaning mode.
    • Once the cleaning process is over, the automatic brewing cycle counter is reset, regardless of its past value.
    • 140z is the default cup size. This value cannot be modified.

Storage

Before storage, always make sure the appliance is completely cool, clean and dry. It is recommended to store the appliance in a dry place. Never wrap the Power Cord around the appliance. Store the appliance on a stable shelf or in a cupboard, preferably in its original packaging. To avoid accidents, ensure that both the appliance and its power cord are beyond the reach of children or pets.
