How to Raise and Lower the Lampshade
To raise the Lampshade, press one hand around the bottom of the lampshade while simultaneously grasping the upper part of the Light Post with your other hand. Push up to raise the Lampshade. To lower the Lampshade, press the Lampshade down with one hand.
Tip: When planting a new seed pod, set the lampshade to the lowest possible position.
Operation Procedure
Step 1: Add Water
- Remove the lid of the water tank.
- Fill with tap water or distilled water.
- Do not use well water or softened water. For best results, always maintain the water level between 3-4 liters of water.
Step 2: Add Nutrients
Fill Bottle A with room temperature water and shake well. Fill Bottle B with
room temperature water and shake well. Add 20 milliliters from Bottle A and 20
milliliters from Bottle B for every 4 liters of water added to the tank. (Max
water level is 4.5 L.)
Note: Suggest to change the water every 2 weeks to ensure that the potassium content is sufficient. Adding too many nutrients may be harmful to your plants. Always top off water levels when adding liquid nutrients. Do not use well water or softened water, it will interfere and unbalance the nutrients. Using well water or softened water may result in plants suddenly browning or have poor growth. Unopened Nutrient bottles have a shelf life of 2 years when stored at room temperature and not exposed to sunlight. Mixed Nutrient bottles have a shelf like of 5 months if stored without exposure to sunlight.
Step 3: Plug-In
Do Not plug in the adapter without water in the tank. You will hear a “Beep”
sound after plugging in the adapter, indicating that the light panel can be
controlled. If you do not hear the “Beep” sound, push or re-insert the rod
down into the bottom until you hear a “Beep” sound.
Step 4: Add Seed Sponges & Basket Kits
The garden kit does not include the seeds. Choose well-known brand seeds from
your local store. Add 3-4 seeds per sponge to improve the germination rate.
Some seeds will take up to 7 days to germinate. Choose only ONE seedling,
multiple seedlings may result in poor growth and will not receive sufficient
nutrients.
Garden Placement
Place your garden on a sturdy, water-tolerant surface. Keep out of reach of
children or pets. Position your garden away from any direct source of heat
(stove, furnace vents) or cold (A/C vents, window drafts). The Indoor Garden
Kit does not need any additional lighting, too much direct sunlight may damage
your plants.
Control Panel Settings
- Note: Press the power button, then press the veg or flower button, so the light can enter in 16 hours on & 8 hours off cycle.
- Power: Press the power button to turn on the device. Light will keep on.
- Veg: Vegetable Mode(Light on for 16H, Light off for 8H; Red+Blue+White).
- Flower: Flower/Fruit Mode(Light on for 16H, Light off for 8H; Red+White).
- Pump: Repeating Cycle(30 Minutes on, 30 Minutes off).
- Nutrients(suggested): 5mlA+5mlB(Every 1L of water).
Important Notes about LED Light
Once you choose a light mode, the light will automatically turn on and off to provide your plants with the “sunshine” needed. There is no need to manually turn the lights on or off. If the light turns off suddenly, push or re-insert the rod down into the bottom until you hear a “Beep” sound, and then press the “POWER” button, the light will be on.
Gardening Tips for Maximum Harvests
Germination
Always check the seed information regarding optimal temperature days to
germinate. Plant 3-4 seeds per sponge and allow 2-7 days to germinate. Many
factors impact germination. The basket lid will help regulate moisture and
temperature for optimal germina- tion. Leave them on until plants are nearly
touching the lid, then take them off. Use fewer than 12 pods with plants like
tomatoes and peppers to account for the larger plant size. Allow some space in
between the seed pods for plant growth. Temperature is a key factor in
successful plant germination and growth. Cold-weather plants such as lettuce
and kale will germinate better in cooler temperatures. Heat-loving plants such
as tomatoes and peppers will germinate faster in warmer temperatures (above 70
degrees). All seeds are different and may take longer to germinate.
Transplant
Your seedling is ready for transplant when you see the rhizome forming around
the sponge. Split the sponge to take one seedling out and transplant it to a
larger pot. Keeping more than one seedling in the sponge may result in
insufficient nutrition. Only keep ONE seedling per sponge.
Pruning
Read the information on the seed packet to better understand the appropriate
temperature and days to lower your plant light. Do NOT raise the light! For
bestresults, prune your plants and keep them trimmed and compact to allow to
light to properly shine on all the plants. Do Not raise the Lampshade to soon
on fast-growing plants like basil. Pruning your plant above a new leaf set
(Diagram A) and leaving the lights low, will allow your plants to properly
mature and receive all the light that is needed to flourish. Prune often to
maintain a healthy garden, but never trim more than 1/3 of each plant at a
time. Plants compete for light and when left untended, the faster-growing
plants may block the slower-growing plants from receiving the proper amount of
light. This can suppress growth and eventually, your plant may die off.
Spreading leaves must be trimmed (diagram B) to ensure that slow-growing
plants get enough light to thrive and produce, then a couple of large, spindly
plants surrounded by straggly, light-starved plants. You also prune, and enjoy
the aroma and scents that are released every time you prune your plants. So,
Prune! Prune Otten to maintain a healthy garden, but never take more than 1/3
of each plant at a time. Plants compete for light. Left untended, more
aggressive growers can actually block it due to the lace of digo. Spreading
leaves gust be true (Diagram B) to make sure that slow growers get enough
light to thrive and produce big yields. Finally, pruning = harvesting. Each
time you prune you get to enjoy fresh herbs in a salad soup on pizza or a
sandwich. And, a full, bushy garden looks much better than one giant, spindly
plant surrounded by straggly, light-starved neighbors. Pruning also releases a
wonderful scent. So prune!
Lights
Plants love light! Always keep your Grow Lights as close to your plants as
possible. Plants should be 1-2 inches below the lights. Always check to see if
you can prune your plants rather than raising the Grow Lights. After Pruning,
always lower the lights to sit 1-2 inches above your plant if possible.
Pollinating
You will need to start pollinating your fruiting plants (tomatoes, peppers)
once they begin to flower. This will usually occur during weeks 4-6 after
planting. To pollinate, use one or more of the following methods; With an open
hand and gently move through the foliage in a back-and-forth motion. This will
allow the plant to spread its pollen. Place a fan near your plants, the moving
air will help pollinate your plants.
Harvesting
The Garden Kit works best with a harvesting method called “cut and come
again.” Simply put, you enjoy frequent small harvests and then allow the
plants to regrow. This allows you to harvest again and again. Enjoy frequent,
smaller harvests for the first month or two until plants mature and larger
harvests are available. Harvest often to help maintain a healthy garden but
remember never take more than 1/3 of each plant at a time. For Salad Greens,
cut 2 inches off the top of each plant, or harvest large leaves individually
by cutting them off at the base of the plant.
Cleaning pump
Clean out the water pump at least once a month. Do NOT plug the adapter when
the water tank has no water, it will shorten the life span of the pump
.

Can sponges be reused?
It’s reusable if pull out the stem of a plant, but we don’t recommend doing so
as it’s not as good as the first use.
Does it kill the plant to remove it from a sponge (if I want to move it to
a pot, for example)?
Normally, it won’t, but you better wait until it’s vigorous to improve the
survival rate.
Why the LED light can not be turned on?
Push or re-insert the rod down into the bottom until you hear a “Beep” sound,
