Product Usage Instructions

  • Camera Coding
    • Once the camera is connected, you will see the camera image on the monitor.
    • If no camera is connected, within 20 seconds of putting the gear in reverse, the radio screen will switch to a blue screen with the message “Service Rear Vision System.”
    • This means that the RVC was coded successfully.
  • To reverse the coding, repeat the following steps:

  • Notes:
    • After disconnecting the factory 54pin factory harness, it may take up to 2 minutes for the radio to perform self-diagnostic and reboot.

Place of installation

  • The place of 54pin adapter cable installation differs depending on the Sync3 version.

Camera coding

  1. Locate the OBD port and take away the cover
  2. Turn the key to the ON position (do not start the engine) and turn off the headlights
  3. Turn on the radio and wait until it is in its normal operation
  4. Plug in the OBD dongle into the OBD port
  5. Wait until you see a solid GREEN LED then remove the OBD dongle from the OBD port
  6. Turn the key to the OFF position, remove the key, open the driver’s door then close it again.
  7. Open the driver door, start the engine, and put the gear in REVERSE. If a camera is connected, you will see the camera image on the monitor. If no camera is connected, within 20 seconds of putting the gear in reverse, the radio screen will switch to a blue screen with the message “Service Rear Vision System”. This means that the RVC was coded successfully.

To reverse the coding repeat steps 1.-7.

Notes:

Connection

Connection of the 54pin PNP adapter cable

  • As the reverse gear light’s power supply isn’t
  • Voltage stable all the time, an ordinary open relay (e.g. AC-RW-1230 with wiring AC-RS5) or filter (e.g. AC-PNF-RVC) is required.

  1. Disconnect the female 54-pin connector of the factory harness at the rear side of the APIM module and connect it to the male 54-pin connector of the enclosed adapter cable.
  2. Connect the opposite female 54-pin connector of the enclosed adapter cable to the previously free male 54-pin connector of the Apim module.
  3. Connect the white female Cinch connector of the enclosed 54pin adapter cable to the male Cinch connector of the rear-view camera
  4. Connect the Reverse light’s power-cable to the coil (85) and the vehicle’s ground to the coil (86) of the relay.
  5. Connect the output connector (87) of the relay to the rear-view camera’s power-cable.
  6. Connect permanent power+12V to the relay’s input connector (30).
