DUAL CREDIT QUALIFICATION REIMBURSEMENT PROGRAM

In order to comply with the new requirements for Dual Credit Classes, the corporation will reimburse tuition, books, and technology fees for Dual Credit Class teachers who apply to and are accepted in to the graduate level courses to complete dual credit credentialing program. In addition, Liberal Arts Priority (LAP) dual credit teachers who go through the Higher Learning Commission credentialing process and teach a LAP dual credit course(s) shall be paid a yearly stipend of $1,000. A full description of the program is included as Appendix D.

Article III Wage Related Fringe Benefits
A. LEAVES:
PAID LEAVE
ADDED: Effective upon ratification of this agreement, paid leave days will not be restricted to be used. However, the parties will strongly encourage all teachers to use no compensatory leave avoid absences on days immediately preceding or following school vacations or holidays.
ACCUMULATED SICK LEAVE
ADDED: Teachers are required to provide documentation for absences of
three (3) consecutive days or longer.
ADDED: Sick leave and FMLA shall run concurrently, as authorized by FMLA
regulations. FMLA shall be administered in accordance with FMLA regulations
and Board policy.
REMOVED:
Any eligible employee qualifying for and taking FMLA leave shall be required to use accumulated paid sick leave days concurrently during the time of FMLA leave. If the reason for taking FMLA leave is to care for an eligible employee’s spouse, children, or parents, or is for paternity or adoptive leave, the employee qualifying for and taking FMLA leave shall be allowed to use up to twenty (20) accumulated paid sick leave days (including any family illness days already taken prior to the FMLA leave; 10 days’ annual allotment plus 10 days of accumulated leave = 20 days total for paid family leave). Any accumulated paid sick and personal leave days must be used concurrently with FMLA leave.
An employee qualifying for and taking FMLA leave shall be allowed to use accumulated paid sick leave days beyond twenty (20) days if the reason for taking the FMLA leave is to care for an eligible employee’s spouse, children or parents who are suffering from a serious health condition. A serious health condition refers only to an illness, injury, impairment, or physical or mental condition that involves inpatient care in a hospital, hospice, residential medical care facility, or home care to a spouse, child or parent who is in a critical, life threatening condition, or terminally ill. This provision does not allow the use of accumulated paid sick leave days to be used for continuing treatment by a health care provider.
All or part of a leave taken by a teacher because of a temporary disability caused by pregnancy may be charged, at the teacher’s discretion, to the teacher’s available sick days. However, the teacher is not entitled to take accumulated sick days when the teacher’s physician certifies that the teacher is capable of performing the teacher’s regular teaching duties.

Added: Effective upon ratification of this agreement, teachers hired after July 1, 1999 and before June 30, 2004, shall be eligible for the severance pay as outlined in the Severance Pay section of Appendix C.
TAX SHELTERED ANNUITY PLAN: DEFINED CONTRIBUTION PLAN (401(A))
Added: A. For every five full years of employment with SCS, teachers will receive an additional $100.00 contributed as follows: 5-9 years $1,260, 10-14 years $1,360, 15-19 years $1,460, 20-24 years $1,560, 25-29 years $1,660, 30-34 years $1,760, 35-39 years $1,860, 40+ years $1,960.

PREP-PERIOD BUYOUT
If a teacher is assigned and agrees to teach a class during their prep period on a long-term basis (at least (15) fifteen continuous school days in the same class), the teacher will be paid the hourly rate of $44.00 for the prep- period.
APPENDIX D Dual Credit

DUAL CREDIT CREDENTIALING
The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) will require s educators to either have a Master Degree in their discipline or any Master’s degree with eighteen (18) graduate credit hours in their Liberal Arts Priority Course subject area by 2025 in order to teach certain university /college dual credit courses. The Board of Trustees of Shelbyville Central Schools wishes to assist its core teachers in satisfying these requirements. As a result, Title IIA grant funds have been designated for tuition, books and technology fee reimbursements specifically for this purpose.
DUAL CREDIT REIMBURSEMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Master’s Degree To Teach Dual Credit Courses
Title IIA guidelines allow SCS grant funds to will be used toward tuition, books and technology fee reimbursements for Master’s Degree or (18) graduate credit hours only in university /college , dual credit Liberal Arts Priority courses that require Indiana State Board of Education and Indiana Higher Learning Commission credentialing. Applications for approval of Title IIA SCS Applications for approval of reimbursements must be submitted to the High School Principal and the Assistant Superintendent at least thirty (30) days before courses involved are scheduled to begin.
Once courses have been completed with a grade, which the university will accept toward the degree/certification, submission of the official transcript and paid tuition, book and technology fee receipts will be required in order to receive reimbursements. All documents must accompany the SCS Reimbursement Form.
Teachers receiving reimbursements from these funds will be required to teach at Shelbyville Central Schools for a minimum of three (3) additional years after becoming HLC certified in the Liberal Arts Priority Course subject or s/he will be required to pay back the reimbursed funds to Shelbyville Central Schools. It is acknowledged by the teacher that utilizing Shelbyville Central Schools Title IIA funds for reimbursements will necessarily mean fewer funds for other professional development opportunities. Thus, only professional development requests which are specific to the District Strategic Plan or to each building’s School Improvement Plan will be approved.
STIPEND REQUIREMENT
High school faculty teaching a Liberal Arts Priority Course for dual credit course must meet the credentialing requirements of the Indiana State Board of Education, the university/college, and the Indiana Commission for Higher Learning. of the higher education institution offering concurrent enrollment.
The secondary school and the academic unit of the institution shall work together to identify instructors for Liberal Arts Priority dual credit courses, whose final approval rests with the academic unit at the institution and who shall have credentials consistent with credentials required of on- campus faculty. High school teachers who are teaching Liberal Arts Priority dual credit core courses must meet by 2025, the recently revised credentialing guidelines, as set forth by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).
Liberal arts priority Dual credit teachers who go through the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) complete the credentialing process successfully and Career and Technical Education (CTE) educations who also are trained and credentialed or training required for any dual credit course and teach dual credit classes course(s) shall be paid by Shelbyville Central Schools a yearly stipend of $1000.
