Tress Wellness Digital Display Waxing Kit
Hi ladies, and brave men.
OK, you got your first home wax kit, and you are super excited to try it out.
Trust me, and I completely understand how you feel. Stop for a second, read
this, and see how to get the best possible results. I have been waxing for
many years now, but I remember how daunting it can be for your first DIY home
wax. Based on our experience and consulting experts, we put together an easy-
to-follow waxing at-home guide. So we want to make sure that you achieve the
best possible experience and continue to wax for many years to come.
-
MINIMUM ¼ INCH LONG
Hair should be ¼ inch long to wax effectively. Your skin should be clean and dry. -
SET
Pour wax into the wax warmer and allow the beads
to melt until it’s the consistency of honey. -
POOP QUIZ
Test small amount of melted wax on the inside of your wrist to make sure that it’s not too hot. -
APPLY WITH PRESSURE
Using the applicator, apply the wax in the direction of hair growth. Work in small manageable sections. -
COOL IT
Wait 30-45 seconds and allow the wax to harden. It’s ready to remove as soon as it’s no longer sticky to the touch. -
PULL IT
Hold skin taut. Flick the edge of the wax up and pull quickly in the opposite direction of the hair growth.
GOOD TO KNOW.
You’ll see the green light turn on and off as the warmer maintains the desired temperature.
Everything we wish we knew before
-
EXFOLIATE ALWAYS & ALSO BETWEEN WAXES: prevent dead skin build-up and lift any shorter hairs that may catch under excess skin.
-
HAIR LENGTH: a minimum of ¼ inch long hair will be more comfortable for the wax to grasp too. Otherwise, the wax won’t stick easily to the hair.
-
AVOID LOTIONS BEFORE WAXING: before waxing, if you have lotions and oils on, it will make it much more difficult for the wax to attach to your hair. So make sure you’ve cleaned the area and removed all oil or moisturizer or avoid using a moisturizer that day. Have a warm shower, and make sure you dry off completely.
If your skin feels dry, don’t worry since you will apply our pre-wax spray to the areas you will be waxing, and that will make you feel much better. Don’t forget this step either way as it makes a ton of difference. SUNBATHING & TANNING: aren’t recommended before & 24h after waxing- As well goes for exercise, sauna or swimming. Waxing will open up your pores, being prone to infection. -
THAT TIME OF THE MONTH (FEMALES ONLY): the best time to wax is around one week after the period finishes.
-
AVOID DRINKING CAFFEINE & ALCOHOL: alcohol saps moisture from your skin, causing your hair to cling more tightly to its dehydrated follicle (BFFs), leading to a more painful wax. Have a lovely herbal tea that day instead, and reward yourself with a nice glass of wine after. You have earned it.
-
WHERE TO WAX IN YOUR HOUSE? Home waxing can get a bit messy, especially in the beginning, when you are still learning. Make sure that you find a suitable place. Wax is complicated to get out of any fabric, so avoid your bed or any upholstered furniture, ads showing people waxing on the bed are wrong, and trust me, you don’t want to ruin your linen or sofa.
-
Use newspapers, old towels, or something similar on a clear surface. It just makes cleaning up much more simple. I find sitting on the floor the best as
-
I can get to all the areas quickly and be done in no time.

- Place a protective collar ring on the rim of the wax warmer. Use a spatula to scoop and apply a small amount of wax on the skin to test the temperature.
- Apply the wax with pressure in the direction of hair growth. Use firm pressure to ensure that each hair is wrapped in wax. Work in small mana- geable sections.
- Wait about 30-45 seconds until the wax is not sticky. Stretch the skin and lift the edge of the wax. Peel off the wax quickly in the opposite direction of hair growth.
- After waxing, use the Tress Wellness After-Wax Spray, to smooth and moisturize the skin. Tress We- Illness After-Wax Spray can also be used to clean up residual wax on the skin and wax warmer.
Location location location
- EYEBROWS
- Before waxing: brush, cut, and shape the eyebrow.
- Use Vaseline or coconut oil to prevent the wax from sticking to any hair that you want to keep.
- Apply in small sections and use the little spatula.
- Use caution, and don’t let any wax get in contact with the eye.
UPPER LIP, CHIN, AND CHEEKS
- Wax your lip in three sections, left, right, and middle.
- Wax in small sections since facial hair can grow in swirls.
- Make sure wax is NOT too hot.
UNDERARMS
- Note the direction of hair growth before starting. You may have to apply wax several times if the hair grows in different directions.
- Applying against hair growth may be necessary to remove stubborn hair thoroughly.
BIKINI / BRAZILIAN
- Have a mirror near you.
- Sit on the floor or bed with a towel under as protection and the soles of your feet touching.
- The wax from the outside of the hairline, where the hair is the thinnest, and work your way in.
- Apply the wax against the direction of hair growth. Work in small manageable sections.
- Hold your skin stretched when removing the wax, especially in sensitive areas.
Troubleshooting
WHY DIDN’T THE WAX REMOVE ALL MY HAIR?
- Apply more pressure with a spatula. Firm pressure ensures each hair wraps with wax.
- The hair was too short. Hair should be a minimum of ¼ inch long to wax effectively.
- The wax was too cold. Heat the wax until it has the consistency of thick honey.
- Sometimes hair grows in multiple directions. Try a second application while applying the wax in a new direction. If hair remains after 2-3 passes, it’s best to clean up with tweezers.
- Forgot to use pre-wax spray (as it makes a big difference on how much hair is removed).
- Forgot to shower and remove any moisturizing or similar products from the area.
WHY IS A WAX RESIDUE LEFT ON MY SKIN?
- The wax was applied too thin. Use a little more. Apply it about a nickel thick.
- The wax was applied with uneven edges. With practice, you will avoid this issue.
- Use a little Tress-Wellness After-Spray to remove any residue.
Exter Tips and Tricks
- Do a test patch 24 hours before waxing, to see how the skin reacts.
- Hydrate and exfoliate a few days before waxing. Gentle exfoliation removes dead skin and lifts ingrown hairs making it easier for the wax to stick to your hair.
- Avoid using any lotions or oils on the day of waxing. If your skin is dry, you can use the Tress-Wellness Pre-waxing oil.
- Pull the wax low and close to your body, when removing. It will be more comfortable- table then pulling the wax directly up.
- Avoid swimming, direct sunlight, or sweating immediately after waxing.
- Follow a regular waxing schedule and avoid shaving in between waxing. It helps your hair grow to the same length for a better waxing result.
- With continued waxing, your hair will grow back thinner and slower. You will also experience less discomfort each time.
DON’T WAX IF
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND:
- Please avoid waxing on any wounded area.
- Avoid waxing if you are on your period, hormones in your body can make waxing is much more painful.
- Alcohol and water are not suitable for cleaning the residual wax on the skin.
- Avoid contact with moisture like hot showers or steam rooms at least 24 hours after waxing.
- Do not use the wax if your skin has suffered any adverse reaction to wax in the past.
- If you are on medication that affects the skin or have a skin-related disorder, consult your doctor before use.
- If you suffer an adverse reaction, do not use this product in the future.
