MULLEN CAMPUS Low Speed Electric Vehicle

STARTING THE VEHICLE

  1. Fasten Seatbelt.
  2. Verify parking brake is engaged and vehicle is in Neutral.
  3. Push in brake pedal.
  4. Insert key into ignition.
  5. Turn key to START position.
  6. The READY indicator illuminates when the vehicle is running. All other indicator lights should be off except for the parking brake indicator light.
  7. With your foot on the brake pedal, release the parking brake – press the button on the end of lever and push lever downward to the home position.

SHIFTING THE VEHICLE

  1. Ensure vehicle is in READY mode.
  2. Maintain pressure on the brake pedal.
  3. Release parking brake.
  4. Move the gear selector to desired gear.
  5. Verify the selected gear on the instrument panel before proceeding.

Warning
When changing gears, ALWAYS verify that the selected gear is displayed on the instrument panel. Improper shifting could cause the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction.

NOTE

  1. During normal driving, the driver may turn the gear selector to economy (E) mode and continue driving.
  2. In economy mode, an increased efficiency can be obtained from the high voltage battery

THIS VEHICLE IS NOT EQUIPPED WITH “PARK” ON THE GEAR SELECTOR
You must ALWAYS put your vehicle in Neutral and engage the parking brake every time you park. The parking brake lever is located to the right of the driver’s seat.
To set the parking brake:

  1. Completely stop the vehicle.
  2. With the vehicle in Neutral, press brake pedal while pulling the parking brake lever all the way up.
  3. Verify parking brake is engaged.
  4. Failure to apply the parking brake may allow the vehicle to roll, potentially causing property damage and personal injury.

KEYS AND LOCKS

Each vehicle is equipped with two remote entry key fobs. The key fobs unlock/lock the doors and liftgate from outside the vehicle remotely. If locking the vehicle with a front or side door ajar, the vehicle’s exterior lights will flash, and the horn will sound three times before locking. The liftgate can be left open when locking the vehicle using the key fob. The liftgate will lock once fully closed. If you use the key fob to unlock the doors and do not open them within 90 seconds, the vehicle will automatically relock itself.

**CHARGING PREPARATION

**

  1. Before charging the vehicle, engage the parking brake, turn the key to the LOCK position, and remove the key.
  2. Locate the charging cable2
  3. The charging port of this vehicle is located near the passenger door, as shown. This vehicle uses an electric drivetrain powered by a high-voltage battery.
  4. In the event of an fire, accident, or other emergency situation, ALWAYS ASSUME THE HIGH VOLTAGE SYSTEM IS LIVE!

NOTE
Inspect the charging cable and charging adapter for signs of breaches in insulation. Ensure the connection ports are free of corrosion, water, or debris

CHARGING OPERATION

  1. Pull the release handle for the charging port door.
  2. Press release on the right side of the cover toopen it and, swing the cover to the left.
  3. Ensure the charging adapter is attached to th e charging cable.
  4. Insert the charging plug into the vehicle charging port.
  5. Plug the charging cable into the 20-amp wall outlet. The instrument panel Home Screen should display “Charging.”

LIFTING THE HOOD

  1. Locate the hood release on the lower left of the instrument panel.
  2. Lift the secondary release latch found in the center gap beneath the hood.
  3. Raise the hood and prop the support rod on the right side in the designated clip.

CHECK FLUIDS

  1. Coolant/Antifreeze
  2. Windshield Washer Solvent
  3. Brake Fluid

12-VOLT BATTERY CHARGING

If the vehicle is parked for an extended period, (e.g., more than 20 days), the low voltage, 12-volt battery may lose charge and fail to start the vehicle3 To prevent the 12-volt battery from becoming depleted, periodically start the vehicle to allow the battery to charge.

  1. Apply the parking brake.
  2. Turn the key to the START position.
  3. The READY indicator will display on the instrument panel.
  4. Let the vehicle sit in READY state for 2 hours.
  5. Then, turn the key to the OFF position. The 12-volt battery should be fully charged4.

NOTE
If vehicle fails to start, see Mullen CAMPUS Owner’s Manual for Jump- Starting the Vehicle. Keep the doors fully closed and locked when parking the vehicle to minimize loss of charge of the 12-volt battery.
