Safety

Read all safety information and instructions. Failure to comply with the safety information and instructions may cause injuries and/or material damage.

Important warnings

Keep children away or under supervision. The appliance can be used by children aged 8 and over and by persons with restricted physical, sensory or mental facilities or inadequate experience and/or knowledge if they are supervised or if they have been instructed in respect to safe use of the appliance and have understood the resultant dangers.

Childrenm must not play with the appliance.

Children below 3 years
of age must be kept away from the appliance, unless they are constantly supervised. In addition to the notes in these operating instructions, the general safety and accident prevention regulations of the legislature must be taken into consideration.
Pass on the operating instructions to third parties. Make sure that third parties only use this product after receiving the requisite instructions.
Keep away from children and safeguard against unauthorized use. Never leave the appliance unattended if it is either ready for operation or operating. Do not let children come close to the appliance. The use of this appliance by children is prohibited. Safeguard the appliance against unauthorized use by third parties. Always be aware of what you are doing and pay attention at all times. Do not carry out any work on this product if you are inattentive or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. Even a brief loss of concentration when using this appliance can lead to serious accidents or injuries. Ensure secure wall mounting. Make sure the appliance has a firm and secure wall mounting during installation. Only use the appliance in an upright position. The appliance becomes very hot. Never touch the surface while the appliance is in operation. Avoid contact with hot parts. Do not touch hot parts on the appliance. Note that various components can store heat and can therefore also cause burns after use of the appliance.

WARNING:
Do not cover. Never cover the appliance so as to avoid overheating. It is important to make sure that the air inlet and air outlet openings are always freely accessible. Look out for damage. Check the appliance for any signs of damage before putting it into operation. If defects are apparent on the appliance, it must not be put into operation on any account. Do not use sharp objects. Never insert sharp and/or metallic objects inside the appliance. Do not misuse. Do not use the appliance for purposes other than those intended in these operating instructions. Check regularly. Use of this appliance can cause certain parts to become worn. Therefore check the appliance regularly for signs of damage and defects. Check power cable. Do not use the appliance if the power cable shows signs of damage. It is imperative to contact the ROWI Service Center in the event of damage.

If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard. Do not use power cable for other purposes. Do not pull the appliance at the cable and do not use it to pull the plug out of the socket. Protect the cable from heat, oil and sharp edges. Only operate the appliance with the power cable fully rolled out. Never wind the power cable around the appliance. Make sure that the power cable does not come into contact with hot surfaces. Route the cable so that nobody can trip over it. Only use original accessories. For your own safety, only use accessories and additional devices that are expressly recommended in the operating instructions or by the manufacturer. Do not use in explosive zones. Do not use the appliance in an explosive environment containing substances such as flammable liquids, gases and especially spray and dust mist. These substances can ignite due to hot surfaces on the appliance. Set up the appliance so that the power plug is freely accessible at all times. Do not position the appliance directly below a wall socket. Pull out power plug. Pull the power plug out of the socket when not using the appliance and before all maintenance work. Observe the specified safety distances when setting up the appliance. Keep a minimum distance of 25 cm to the sides, 20 cm to the ceiling, 150 cm to the floor, as well as 100 cm to persons and other objects. In addition, a minimum distance of 60 cm must be kept to the shower and/or bath. Mounting the appliance on the ceiling is prohibited.

Specific safety notes

Never use this appliance in the immediate vicinity of a bath, shower or swimming pool.
Do not use this heater with a program switch, time switch or any other device that automatically switches on the heater, as there is risk of fire if the heater is covered or set up incorrectly.

Product Description

Area of application and intended use

This appliance is constructed according to the state of the art and the recognized technical rules of safety. Nevertheless, improper use or use other than that intended can result in hazards to the life and limb of the user or third parties or damage to the appliance itself and/or other tangible assets.
A bathroom fast heater serves as secondary heating for small rooms. It must always be ensured that all ventilation and blow-out openings remain freely accessible during operation. Blockages can lead to overheating. This appliance is only designed for household use. Do not use this appliance for commercial purposes and do not use outdoors. A different use or a use extending beyond this is deemed to be improper. The user shall bear the risk. Proper and correct use also includes observance of the operating and installation notes as well as compliance with the maintenance terms.

The type plate with all relevant technical data as well as the serial number is attached on the side of the appliance.

Product safety

In order to avoid potential hazards in advance, the following safety devices have been installed by the manufacturer as standard:

Overheating protection
If the maximum permitted appliance temperature is exceeded, the appliance automatically switches off and cannot be restarted until it has cooled down.

Thermal fuse
A thermal fuse is provided as an extra safety precaution. If this triggers and opens the electric circuit, the cause of this is an abnormal overheating in the appliance. In this case, the appliance must be repaired by a specialist to ensure continued safe heating. Please contact the ROWI Service Team to replace defective parts and install a new fuse.

Degree of protection

  • The device corresponds to degree of protection IP24. Appliances of this category have a so-called finger guard, thus protecting them against penetration by medium-sized foreign bodies (from Ø 12.5 mm). It is also protected against splash water from all directions.
  • Only operate the appliance on the wall.

Preparing the Product for Operation

Unpacking the scope of supply

Check whether the scope of supply is free of defects immediately after opening the packaging. Contact the seller immediately if the scope of supply is defective. Do not put the appliance into operation if it is defective.

Keeping the original packaging

Keep the original packaging in a safe place over the entire service life of the product. Use the packaging for storing and transporting the appliance. Only dispose of the packaging after the product service life has come to an end. You can find information on the proper disposal in Chapter 8.

Montage an der Wand

The appliance my only be operated when mounted securely and vertically on the wall and with the air outlet grille directed downwards.

  • When choosing an installation site, make sure that no concealed electrical cables or water pipes run past this location.
  • Mounting on the ceiling is prohibited.
  • Locate the heater so that the switch and other controls cannot be touched by anybody in the bath or under the shower.
  • Comply with the specified safety distances and assembly dimensions!
  • This appliance may only be operated in bathrooms and wet rooms. Volume 1 and 2 areas are excluded from this.
  1. Mark 2 drill holes. The distance between the holes is 17 cm. (The distance from the drill holes to the floor must be at least 1.85 m in order to keep a minimum distance of 1.50 m from the appliance to the floor).

  2. Drill the holes previously marked with a diameter of Ø 6 mm and a depth of approx. 55 mm.

  3.  First place the dowels provided in the drill holes. Then screw in the screws provided – making sure that the screw head still protrudes about 8 mm.

  4. Now hang up the appliance carefully at the two screws.

  5. The lower fastening (see Fig. 4) must be attached for a secure hold. Turn this downwards for the purpose. Draw a marking through the hole onto the wall.

  6. Unhang the appliance again and drill at the marking with a diameter of Ø 6 mm and a depth of approx. 55 mm into the drill hole previously marked.

  7. Now hang the appliance back on the mounting bracket and fix it on the lower fastening with a screw.

Start-up and operation

After removing the packaging and mounting on the wall, the appliance can be put into operation. Proceed as described below:
Connect the appliance to an earthed socket protected with an earth-leakage circuit breaker. The display lights up and the appliance enters Stand-by mode.

  1. Switch on/off
    Press the Power button to quit Stand-by mode and switch on the appliance. Press the button again to switch off the appliance (return to Stand-by mode). (Check after switching on the appliance to ensure the fan functions without fault at both speed levels and the motor does not hum.)
    If the appliance is not operated for 1 minute, the control unit (apart from the Power button) is locked automatically. A key appears in the display .
    To cancel the lock again, press the button for 3 seconds:

    The appliance enters Manual mode after switching on. It now heats automatically if the room temperature does not exceed the set temperature.
    The temperature can be adjusted between 10-35 °C with “+” or “-”.

  3. Setting the time/day
    Press the C/M button, the hour C/M begins to flash (Fig. 5c, No. 1) . The hour can be selected with “+” and “-”. Then press the C/M button again. The minute now begins to flash (Fig. 5c, No. 1). Also select the current minute here with “+” and “-”. Then press the C/M button again. The day (Fig. 5c, No.

  1. now begins to flash. Select the current day with “+” and “-”. The scheme here is 1 = Monday, 2 = Tuesday, 3 = Wednesday etc. Then press the C/M button again to confirm the input.
  1. Setting the timer
    Press the C/M button and hold C/M this down for 3 seconds. The hour (Fig. 5c, No. 1) sets to 00 and the hour (Fig. 5c, No. 9) appears in the display. You can now select between 0-24 hours in half-hourly intervals using “+” or “-”. The appliance then switches off automatically after the selected time. Wait about 10 seconds after selection until the current time is displayed. The timer is now saved.

  2. Heating programs
    7 preset heating programs are P/PRO available (P1-P7). You can call these up by pressing the “P/PRO” button and then selecting a program with “+” or “-”. Various modes for different times are preset in a heating program. The following modes can be defined here:
    Comfort mode:
    As soon as the room temperature drops below 10 °C the appliance starts up automatically and heats until reaching 35 °C. The appliance heats with maximum heat output.
    Eco mode:
    As soon as the room temperature drops below 7 °C the appliance starts up automatically and heats until reaching 35 °C. The appliance heats with minimum heat output.
    As soon as the room temperature drops below 7 °C the appliance starts up automatically and heats until reaching 9 °C.
    Example:
    It is Thursday 4 hours. The appliance is currently operating in Comfort mode. The room temperature is 21 °C. The appliance will operate in Comfort mode from 1-5 hours and in Eco mode from 12-17 hours.
    The times are shown with bars (Fig. 5c, No. 4-6). Each bar corresponds to an hour here. If bars are shown at the top and bottom, the appliance is operating in Comfort mode. If only the lower bars are shown, the appliance is operating in Eco mode. If no bars are shown, the appliance is operating in Frost protection mode. You can also read this off based on the characters in the display Fig. 5c, No. 10.

  3. Adjusting the preset heating programs

    • Press the P/PRO button to select the heating program to be changed with “+” and “-”.
    • Keep the P/PRO button pressed for 3 seconds until the time in the display 00:00 (Fig. 5c, No. 1) flashes and PROG (Fig. 5C, No. 9) is displayed.
    • You can now select the mode for 00:00 hours. Press the C/M button for this until you reach the desired mode (Comfort, Eco, Frost protection mode). “–” means the appliance remains switched off.
    • You can also set the desired temperature with “+” and “-”. (The temperature in Frost Protection mode cannot be changed.)
    • Next press the P/PRO button again, the time changes to 01:00 hours. You can select the desired mode again with C/M. Continue until you have selected the desired mode for each time.
  4. AU mode/Weekday programming

    • Press the P/PRO button and select the “AU” program with “+” or “-”.
    • Keep the P/PRO button pressed for 3 seconds until “PROG” appears in the display.
    • Select the desired day with the “C/M” button.
    • Select the desired program with “+” or “-”.
    •  Wait a few seconds until the programming is saved. Then repeat the steps to assign the other days also.
  5. Window open
    Press the button. The window symbol appears in the display. If this mode is selected, the appliance will detect an open window based on a rapid temperature drop and then switch off to save energy.

Switching off the appliance
  1.  Press the Power button “ ” on the control panel.
  2. Pull the power plug out of the socket.
Storage

Protect the appliance against dust, dirt and insects. Cover the appliance with the sheet provided so that it is protected from impurities and damage or malfunctions caused this.

Repacking for private

Always pack the appliance in its original packaging for transportation to prevent transport damage.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Safety measures
  • Always pull the mains plug out of the socket before servicing the appliance.
  • Only begin the maintenance or repair work once the appliance has completely cooled down.
  • Cleaning and maintenance: this may not be carried out by children without supervision.
Cleaning

The appliance should be covered during storage as protection against dirt. If the appliance has nevertheless become dirty, observe the following notes during cleaning:

  • Always clean the appliance while cool.
  • Pull out mains plug before any work.
  • Only clean the appliance with a dry, soft cloth. Never use strong and/or abrasive cleaning agents.
Maintenance

Note that only original parts may be used for repair and maintenance work. Contact the ROWI Service Center if need be (see Chapter 6).

Cleaning and maintenance by qualified per-sons

Maintenance work that is not listed in Chapters 5.2 – 5.3 may only be carried out by the ROWI Service Center (see Chap-ter 6). In the case of maintenance work within the first 24 months that has not been carried out by persons or companies authorized by ROWI, all warranty claims shall become null and void.

Warranty

Scope

ROWI grants the owner of this product a warranty of 24 months from the date of purchase. Material or production defects shall be rectified free of charge by the

ROWI Service Center within this period.
Defects that are not due to material or production faults are excluded from the warranty, e.g.

  • Transport damage of any kind
  • Faults due to incorrect installation/start-up
  • Faults due to improper use
  • Faults due to incorrect handling Faults due to improperly performed repairs or attempts at repair by persons and/or companies not authorized by ROWI
  • Normal wear resulting from operation
  • Cleaning of components
  • Adaptation to different national, technical or safety-relevant requirements, if the product is not used in the country for which it has been technically designed and manufactured. Moreover, we cannot accept any warranty for appliances whose serial number is falsified, altered or removed. A warranty claim shall also expire if parts are integrated in the appliance, which are not approved by ROWI Vertie GmbH. Claims extending beyond the free fault rectification, e.g. damage compensation claims, are not covered by the scope of the warranty.
Processing

If problems occur during operation of your ROWI product, please proceed as follows:

  1. Read the instructions for use Most malfunctions are caused by incorrect operation. Therefore first consult the operating instructions in the event of a malfunction. Chapter 5.4 contains corresponding information on troubleshooting.

  2. Service Form
    To make the service processing easier, please carefully fill out the service form enclosed with the product in block letters before contacting the ROWI Service Center. This means you have all requisite information within convenient access.

  3. Contact
    Write to the ROWI Service Center:[email protected]
    Most problems can be remedied as part of the competent, technical advice from our Service Team. If this is not possible, the further procedure is outlined here.

  4. If an inspection repair by the ROWI Service Center is necessary, proceed as follows:

    • Pack appliance: Pack the appliance in the original packaging. Make sure that it is adequately padded and protected against knocks. Transport damage is not covered within the scope of warranty.
    •  Include purchase receipt: Always pro-vide the receipt as proof of purchase. The service performance can only be handled within the framework of the warranty if the purchase receipt is
    • Enclose service form: Enclose the filled out service form in the transport pack-aging. Return appliance: Send the appliance carriage free (up to 30 kg) to the following address (only after consultation with the ROWI Service Center): ROWI  Service Center

Replacement and Spare

You can order replacement and spare parts via our website www.rowi.de. If this is not possible or you have questions, please contact the ROWI Service Center. Please note that some replacement parts are not available from ROWI or cannot be replaced individually.

Disposal

The packaging is made from environmentally-friendly materials, which you can dispose of via your local recycling facility. Do not dispose of the product as household waste but instead via local authority collection points for materials recycling! You can learn about options for the disposal of end-of- life appliances from your local or municipal administration. ay attention to the identification of the packaging materials for waste separation, these are marked with abbreviations (a) and numbers (b) denoting the following: 1-7: Plastics/ 20-22: Paper and cardboard/ 80-98: Composites.

Statement of Guarantee

Irrespective of the statutory warranty claims, the manufacturer shall ensure a guarantee pursuant to the laws of your country, but no less than 1 year (in Germany 2 years). The guarantee shall commence on the sales date of the appliance to the end consumer.
The guarantee shall only extend to defects that are due to material or manufacturing faults.
Guarantee repairs may only be carried out by an authorized customer service. In order to assert the guarantee claim, the original sales receipt (with sales date) must be enclosed.

The following are excluded from the guarantee:

  • Normal wear
  • Improper applications, e.g. overloading the appliance, unapproved accessory parts
  • Damage due to external effects, the use of force or foreign bodies
  • Damage resulting from failure to observe the operating instructions, e. g. connection to an incorrect voltage supply or failure to follow the assembly instructions
  • Complete or partially disassembled appliances
