Therefore read through these operating instructions carefully before putting the heater into operation for the first time. Keep the operating instructions within convenient access for later consultation during every use. Keep all documents provided along with the appliance in a safe place.

Safety

Read all safety information and instructions. Failure to comply with the safety information and instructions may cause injuries and/or material damage.

1.1 Important warnings

Keep children away or under supervision. The appliance can be used by children aged 8 and over and by persons with restricted physical, sensory or mental facilities or inadequate experience and/or knowledge if they are supervised or if they have been instructed in respect to safe use of the appliance and have understood the resultant dangers.

Children must not play with the appliance.
Cleaning and user maintenance must not be carried out by children up to and including 8 years of age.
Children younger than 3 years of age must be kept away from the appliance unless they are supervised at all times.
Children from 3 years or younger than 8 years may only switch the appliance on and off if they are supervised or have been instructed in the safe use of the appliance and understand the resulting hazards, provided that the appliance is placed or installed in its normal position of use.

Do not allow children 3 years of age or younger or younger than 8 years of age to plug the appliance into the outlet, regulate the appliance, clean the appliance, and/or carry out user maintenance.
WARNING – The heater must not be used in small rooms occupied by persons who cannot leave the room independently, unless constant supervision is provided.
CAUTION – Some parts of the product can become very hot and cause burns. Particular caution is called for if children and persons in need of protection are present.
Never touch the appliance while in the shower or bath.

1.2 General safety notes
An improper use of this appliance can cause serious and extensive harm to health as well as immense material damage. Therefore carefully read through the following notes. Familiarize yourself well with the appliance before putting it into operation. Only in this way can a safe and fault-free operation be ensured.
Observe general safety and accident prevention regulations. In addition to the notes in these operating instructions, the general safety and accident prevention regulations of the legislature must be taken into consideration.
Pass on the operating instructions to third parties. Make sure that third parties only use this product after receiving the requisite instructions.
Keep away from children and safeguard against unauthorized use. Never leave the appliance unattended if it is either ready for operation or operating. Do not let children come close to the appliance. The use of this appliance by children is prohibited. Safeguard the appliance against unauthorized use by third parties.
Always be aware of what you are doing and pay attention at all times. Do not carry out any work on this product if you are inattentive or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. Even a brief loss of concentration when using this appliance can lead to serious accidents or injuries.
Ensure a secure base. Make sure the appliance has a firm and secure base when setting it up. Only use the appliance in an upright position. If the appliance has tipped over, pull out the power plug, return the appliance to an upright position and allow to cool down before putting it into operation again.
The appliance becomes very hot. Never touch the surface while the appliance is in operation.
Avoid contact with hot parts. Do not touch hot parts on the appliance. Note that various components can store heat and can therefore also cause burns after use of the appliance.
WARNING: Do not cover. Never cover the appliance so as to avoid overheating. It is important to make sure that the air inlet and air outlet openings are always freely accessible.
Look out for damage. Check the appliance for any signs of damage before putting it into operation. If defects are apparent on the appliance, it must not be put into operation on any account.
Do not use sharp objects. Never insert sharp and/or metallic objects inside the appliance.
Do not misuse. Do not use the appliance for purposes other than those intended in these operating instructions.
Check regularly. Use of this appliance can cause certain parts to become worn. Therefore check the appliance regularly for signs of damage and defects.
Check power cable. Do not use the appliance if the power cable shows signs of damage. It is imperative to contact the ROWI Service Center in the event of damage.
Do not use power cable for other purposes. Do not pull the appliance at the cable and do not use it to pull the plug out of the socket. Protect the cable from heat, oil and sharp edges.
Only operate the appliance with the power cable fully rolled out. Never wind the power cable around the appliance. Make sure that the power cable does not come into contact with hot surfaces. Route the cable so that nobody can trip over it.
Only use original accessories.
For your own safety, only use accessories and additional devices that are expressly recommended in the operating instructions or by the manufacturer.
Do not use in explosive zones.
Do not use the appliance in an explosive environment containing substances such as flammable liquids, gases and especially spray and dust mist. These substances can ignite due to hot surfaces on the appliance.
Set up the appliance so that the power plug is freely accessible at all times.
Do not position the appliance directly below a wall socket.
Pull out power plug. Pull the power plug out of the socket when not using the appliance and before all maintenance work.
Never immerse the appliance in water.
Observe the specified safety distances when setting up the appliance.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, keep textiles, curtains and all combustible materials at least 1 m away from the air outlet. Never set up the appliance on a long-pile carpet.

Mounting the appliance on the wall or ceiling is prohibited.

1.3 Specific safety notes
Never use this appliance in the immediate vicinity of a bath, shower or swimming pool.

Product Description

2.1 Area of application and intended use
This appliance is constructed according to the state of the art and the recognised technical rules of safety. Nevertheless, improper use or use other than that intended can result in hazards to the life and limb of the user or third parties or damage to the appliance  itself and/or other tangible assets. This portable, electric ceramic tower heater is suitable for heating closed, dry rooms in the spring or autumn. The appliance can also be used as additional heating on extremely cold days. Thanks to an additional cold air setting, this appliance can also be used as a ventilator in summer.
A different use or a use extending beyond this is deemed to be improper. The user shall bear the risk. Proper and correct use also includes observance of the operating and installation notes as well as compliance with the maintenance terms.
2.2 Type plate
The type plate of the ceramic tower heater with all relevant technical data as well as the serial number is attached on the rear of the appliance.
2.3 Product safety
In order to avoid potential hazards in advance, the following safety devices have been installed by the manufacturer as standard:
Overheating protection
If the maximum permitted appliance temperature is exceeded, the appliance automatically switches off and cannot be restarted until it has cooled down.
Tip prevention
If the appliance is tilted or accidentally tips over, the tip protection will switch off the appliance.

Degree of protection
The appliance corresponds to degree of protection IPXO. Appliances of this category do not have protection against accidental contact, nor against penetration by foreign objects. No protection is provided against water.
Only operate the appliance in an upright position.

2.5 Prohibited areas of application

  • This appliance may not come into contact with water or moisture either during operation or during storage.
  • This appliance is only designed for household use. Do not use this appliance for commercial purposes or outdoors.
  • The appliance may not be used for wall and ceiling installation.

Preparing the Product for Operation

3.1 Unpacking the scope of supply
Check whether the scope of supply is complete and free of defects immediately after opening the packaging. Contact the seller immediately if the scope of supply is incomplete or defective. Do not put the appliance into operation if it is defective.

3.2 Keeping the original packaging
Keep the original packaging in a safe place over the entire service life of the product. Use the packaging for storing and transporting the appliance. Only dispose of the packaging after the product service life has come to an end. You can find information on the proper disposal in Chapter 8.

3.3 Setting up the appliance
The appliance may only be operated in a secure, vertical and stable position.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, keep textiles, curtains and all combustible materials at least 1 m away from the air outlet. Never set up the appliance on a long-pile carpet.

  • Do not position the appliance directly below a wall socket.
  • Mounting the appliance on the ceiling or wall is prohibited.

Operating Instructions

4.1 Appliance overview

4.2 Start-up and operation
The appliance can be put into operation after removing the packaging. Proceed as follows for this:

  1. Make sure the main switch (see Fig. 1, No. 6) is at “0”. Then connect the ceramic tower heater to an earthed socket protected with an earthleakage circuit breaker.
  2. Switch on the appliance by turning the main switch to “I”. The display lights up and shows the current room temperature. The appliance is now in stand-by mode. (Check to ensure the fan functions without fault and the motor does not hum).

(All the following settings can be made via the control unit (Fig. 1, No. 2) or via the remote control provided. Lithium battery is included in the scope of supply (type CR2025; 3 Volt; 1 item)

Stand-by
Press the button to quit standby mode. The current room temperature as well as the symbol for the set ventilation now appear on the display. Press the button again to return to stand-by mode.
ATTENTION: The ventilator continues running for about 30 seconds until it switches off fully.

Timer
Press the button to set the timer. You can select between 1-12 h here. (Each press makes an adjustment by 1 h respectively.) The appliance now switches automatically into stand-by mode after the set period. (A clock is shown in the display when the timer is activated.)

Heating levels
Press the button to toggle between the heating levels.
= Heating level 1 (1000 W)
= Heating level 2 (2000 W)

Oscillation
Press the button to switch on the oscillation function.
Press the button again to switch this function off.

Thermostat
Press the button to set the desired temperature.
(On the remote control with the ∧ and ∨ buttons.) You can select between 15-45 °C here. Wait until the temperature starts to flash and the room temperature is displayed again. The integrated thermostat now attempts to reach and maintain the set temperature.

4.3 Switching off the appliance

  1. Press the Standby button on the control panel. The blower now continues operating for about 10 seconds to cool the heating element down.
  2. Then operate the main switch (Fig. 1, No. 5) on the rear of the appliance to switch it off fully.
  3. Pull the power plug out of the socket.

Wait until appliance has cooled down before covering or putting it away.

4.4 Storage
Protect the appliance against dust, dirt and insects. Cover the appliance with the sheet provided so that it is protected from impurities and damage or malfunctions caused this.

4.5 Repacking for private transport purposes
Always pack the appliance in its original packaging for transportation to prevent transport damage.

Cleaning and Maintenance

5.1 Safety measures

  • Always pull the mains plug out of the socket before servicing the appliance.
  • Only begin the maintenance or repair work once the appliance has completely cooled down.
  • Cleaning and maintenance: this may not be carried out by children without supervision.

5.2 Cleaning
The ceramic tower heater should be covered after each use to prevent contamination by impurities.

Wait until appliance has cooled down before covering or putting it away.
If the appliance has nevertheless become dirty, observe the following notes during cleaning:

  • Always clean the appliance while cool.
  • Pull out mains plug before any work.
  • Only clean the appliance with a dry, soft cloth. Never use strong and/or abrasive cleaning agents.

5.3 Maintenance
Note that only original parts may be used for repair and maintenance work.
Contact the ROWI Service Center if need be (see Chapter 6).
5.4 Troubleshooting

FAULT: Appliance does not start.

Possible cause Remedy
No power or voltage too low. Make sure the plug is plugged into the socket.

Check the power supply voltage.
The appliance is not switched on.| Operate the main switch and press the Power button
The room temperature is above the temperature set at the thermostat.| Increase thermostat temperature.
The tip protection switch has triggered| Make sure the appliance is in a vertical position and not exposed to any extreme inclination.
The Standby button was not pressed after switching on the ON/OFF switch| Press the Standby button,

FAULT: The switch switches off during operation.

Possible cause Remedy

The thermal protection switch has triggered. The appliance has  exceeded the maximum permissible temperature.| Switch off the appliance by operating the ON/OFF switch and pull the plug out of the socket. Allow the appliance to cool down for several minutes.  Check the air inlet and air outlet openings and remedy the cause of the overheating before restarting the appliance.
The room temperature is above the temperature set at the thermostat.| Increase the thermostat temperature.
The tip protection switch has triggered| Make sure the appliance is in a vertical position and not exposed to any extreme
inclination.
The batteries are empty.| Please replace battery type CR 2025 with a new one.

5.5 Cleaning and maintenance by qualified persons
Maintenance work that is not listed in Chapters 5.2 – 5.3 may only be carried out by the ROWI Service Center (see Chapter 6). In the case of maintenance work within the first 24 months that has not been carried out by persons or companies authorised by ROWI, all warranty claims shall become null and void.

Warranty

6.1 Scope
ROWI grants the owner of this product a warranty of 24 months from the date of purchase. Material or production defects shall be rectified free of charge by the ROWI Service Center within this period.
Defects that are not due to material or production faults are excluded from the warranty, e.g.

  • Transport damage of any kind
  • Faults due to incorrect installation/ start-up
  • Faults due to improper use
  • Faults due to incorrect handling
  • Faults due to improperly performed repairs or attempts at repair by persons and/or companies not authorised by ROWI
  • Normal wear resulting from operation
  • Cleaning of components
  • Adaptation to different national, technical or safety-relevant requirements, if the product is not used in the country for which it has been technically designed and manufactured.

Moreover, we cannot accept any warranty for appliances whose serial number is falsified, altered or removed. A warranty claim shall also expire if parts are integrated in the appliance, which are not approved by ROWI Vertrieb GmbH.
Claims extending beyond the free fault rectification, e.g. damage compensation claims, are not covered by the scope of the warranty.

6.2 Processing
If problems occur during operation of your ROWI product, please proceed as follows:

  1. Read the instructions for use
    Most malfunctions are caused by incorrect operation. Therefore first consult the operating instructions in the event of a malfunction. Chapter 5.4 contains corresponding information on troubleshooting.

  2. Service Form
    To make the service processing easier, please carefully fill out the service form enclosed with the product in block letters before contacting the ROWI Service Center. This means you have all requisite information within convenient access.

  3. Contact
    Write to the ROWI Service Center: service@rowi.de
    Most problems can be remedied as part of the competent, technical advice from our Service Team. If this is not possible, the further procedure is outlined here.

  4. If an inspection repair by the ROWI Service Center is necessary, proceed as follows:
    ► Pack appliance: Pack the appliance in the original packaging. Make sure that it is adequately padded and protected against knocks. Transport damage is not covered within the scope of warranty.
    ► Include purchase receipt: Always provide the receipt as proof of purchase. The service performance can only be handled within the framework of the warranty if the purchase receipt is provided.
    ► Enclose service form: Enclose the filled out service form in the transport packaging.
    ► Return appliance: Send the appliance carriage free (up to 30 kg) to the following address (only after consultation with the ROWI Service Center):

You can order replacement and spare parts via our website www.rowi.de. If this is not possible or you have questions, please contact the ROWI Service Center.
Please note that some replacement parts are not available from ROWI or cannot be replaced individually.

Disposal

The packaging is made from environmentally-friendly materials, which you can dispose of via your local recycling facility.
Do not dispose of the product as household waste but instead via local authority collection points for materials recycling! You can learn about options for the disposal of end-of-life appliances from your local or municipal administration.
Pay attention to the identification of the packaging materials for waste separation, these are marked with abbreviations (a) and numbers (b) denoting the following: Plastics/ 20-22: Paper and board/ 80-98:Composites.
As an end consumer, you are obliged by law (Battery Directive) to return all used batteries; disposal as household waste is prohibited. Batteries are marked with the symbol opposite, this indicating that disposal as household waste is pro- hibited. You can return your used batteries free of charge to the collection points provided by your municipality, our branches or anywhere where batteries are sold. In this way, you will fulfill the statutory obligations and make a valuable contribution towards protecting the environment.

Battery and heaters must be disposed of separately!

Statement of Guarantee

Irrespective of the statutory warranty claims, the manufacturer shall ensure a guarantee pursuant to the laws of your country, but no less than 1 year (in Germany 2 years). The guarantee shall commence on the sales date of the appliance to the end consumer.
The guarantee shall only extend to defects that are due to material or manufacturing faults.
Guarantee repairs may only be carried out by an authorised customer service.
In order to assert the guarantee claim, the original sales receipt (with sales date) must be enclosed.

The following are excluded from the guarantee:

  • Normal wear
  • Improper applications, e.g. overloading the appliance, unapproved accessory parts
  • Damage due to external effects, the use of force or foreign bodies
  • Damage resulting from failure to observe the operating instructions, e.g. connection to an incorrect voltage supply or failure to follow the assembly instructions
  • Complete or partially disassembled appliances
