For usage with ACE ALP-1 med Breathalyzer

Short description:
This mobile printer is offered for the usage with the ACE ALP-1 med Breathalyzer. Measurements won by the ACE ALP-1 med can be printed on paper via cable or via IrDA connection. A Bluetooth connection is optional and not available with this printer model.

Scope of delivery

  • 1 ACE ALP-1 Printer inclusive 1 paper role
  • 1 connecting cable (to connect printer and breathalyzer ACE ALP-1 med)
  • 1 power supply adapter 4 batteries (1.5 V / Alkaline) 1 PC cable to correct the time settings in the printer (this printer has got an integrated time setting memory, so the PC Cable is only used for the time setting in connection with the ACE AL9010 breathalyzer which can also be used together with this optional printer)

Introduction

Thank you for purchasing our ACE ALP-1 Printer for usage with the ACE ALP-1 med Breathalyzer! We want to inform you that the printer must only be used on basis of the instructions mentioned in this manual.

Label of individual components

Battery change

  1. Switch off the printer first!

  2. Open the battery cover.

  3. Change batteries like shown in the above figure.
    Please use 1.5V AA SIZE (ALKALINE) only. Please check the battery polarity.

  4. Please close the battery cover. Then turn on the printer to check if the LED light works or not.

Paper change

  1. Don’t send any data from the ACE ALP-1 med to the printer while the paper is changed.

  2. Please push the paper button smoothly.

  3. Please put the paper as below picture after opening the cover.

  4. Please push the Feed button for checking the paper can come out well.

Battery notices

  • The device for which this operating manual contains 4 AA batteries (1.5 V / Alkaline) in delivery condition. Those batteries are not made for recharging. Trying to recharge can cause damage to property or persons. Also the use of rechargeable batteries is not possible with this device, because it can cause damage to the device.

  • When the batteries are depleted, they must not be thrown in the household waste. Used batteries may contain harmful substances that can cause damage to the environment or health. Please return batteries / rechargeable batteries to the store or to the buyback centre. The return is free of charge und mandatory by law. Please throw only depleted batteries into the containers and tape over the poles of lithium batteries.

  • For battery exchange only pull off the battery compartment cover and change
    the depleted batteries for new ones. Mind the polarity: The negatives poles of the batteries are in contact with the springs in the battery trough. Slide the battery compartment cover over the casing until it snaps in.

  • All batteries and rechargeable batteries will be recycled. This way, precious resources like iron, zinc and nickel are gathered. Battery recycling is the easiest lesson in environment.

  • The garbage bin means: Batteries and rechargeable batteries must not be thrown into the household waste. The signs below the garbage bins stand for:

Printer settings

DIP switch is used for setting the printer’s interface, DIP switch is located on the right side inside the battery compartment.

IMPORTANT

  1. In the setting number 2 the setting of IrDA has to be ON and Bluetooth OFF, otherwise, the IrDA connection does not function (Bluetooth is optional and not available with this printer model).
  2. Do not pull the printing paper forcibly during the printing process. This behavior damages the printer’s head and makes the printing unstable.
  3. There is no “automatic power off”. So after finishing the printer operation, you have to turn off the power of the printer. If this is not done, the batteries will be discharged soon!

Conducting a printer test

  1. Check if there are 4 batteries inside the battery compartment and if the battery poles are correct (see chapter „Battery change“).
  2. Check if the paper role is inserted correctly (see chapter „Paper change“).
  3. Press the paper feed button on front of the printer and additionally the start button.
  4. The printer starts a test print.

Conducting a print

  1. Check the batteries and the paper role.
  2. Press the start button on the left side of the printer.
  3. The printer is ready as soon as the green LED light on front of the printer is shining.
  4. Take the ACE ALP-1 med Breathalyzer, press the start button and choose the the „General settings“ in the menu. Choose „Printer“ and then the kind of connection you want to use. With this printer model you can choose an IrDA connection or a connection via cable (this cable is part of the scope of delivery, Bluetooth is optional and not available for this printer model).
  5. By using the IrDA connection you can only print out the data of the last measure-ment done with the ACE ALP-1 med breathalyzer. If you choose to print by using a cable connection between the breathalyzer and the printer you have got 3 variants of selectable data:
    • a. „Last data“: If you select this variant on the display of the ACE ALP-1 med breathalyzer, only the last measured test result is printed (shortly press the middle button on the front of the breathalyzer and the print is started).
    • b. „Selected data“: If you select this variant on the breathalyzer, you can use the arrow keys on the right and left of the device front of the alcohol tester to select a very specific measuring result (1 measurement result of all results stored in the alcohol tester). Use the left and right arrow buttons on the front of the alcohol tester. Pressing the middle button confirms the selected data record and it is printed immediately.
    • c. „Range (? -?)“: If you select this variant on the breathalyzer, you can select several successive test results from a range you specify. Press the left and then the middle button on the breathalyzer. The left number on the alcohol tester display can now be changed with the two arrow keys up / down. Press the middle button to confirm. Now you can edit the right number on the alcohol tester display (using the arrow keys again). To confirm, press the middle button again, then press the left button. The display jumps to „Next“ and when you now press the middle button, the print is started.
  6. To start the printing via an IrDA connection IrDA please hold the IrDA window on front of the breathalyzer`s cover near to the IrDA window of the printer and press the start button of the breathalyzer. As soon as this is done the printer will start printing the last measurement done with the ACE ALP-1 med.

Warranty and liability

WARRANTY
The ACE Handels- und Entwicklungs GmbH (ACE Instruments) provides a warranty of two years after purchase for material and processing errors for the product (see attached warranty and liability declaration) in all versions and designations; and a warranty of one year for the sensor. This warranty includes the electronics as well as the casing or sensor without sampling components. Components that are inevitably destroyed upon effectiveness (such as fuses) are not part of this warranty. The warranty is valid from the date of delivery or from the date of first activation (always the shorter period), if not stated otherwise in the accompanying ACE Handels- und Entwicklung GmbH product literature.

Limitation of warranty and liability

PRODUCT RESTRICTION
The ACE Handels- und Entwicklungs GmbH rejects any further expressly stated
or implied warranty, including the marketability and suitability for a determined purpose. This warranty especially excludes calibration. After changing the sensor, calibration is absolutely necessary. If an exchange of the sensor or a
calibration is required for a product, the user may receive a cost estimate.
Should the user reject the estimate, the ACE Handels- und Entwicklung GmbH will send the product back unrepaired/not calibrated and the product will be labeled accordingly. Should the product not fulfil the warranty, the claim of the buyer and the obligations of ACE Handels- und Entwicklungs GmbH are limited exclusively to the discretion of the ACE Handels- und Entwicklungs GmbH for exchange, repair of the affected goods or reimbursement of the purchasing price for the faulty merchandise.

APPLICATION RESTRICTION

  • The ACE Handels- und Entwicklungs GmbH is by any means liable for additional, incidental or consequential damage such as, among others, lost profit and downtime that result from selling, producing or using products that are part of this application restriction. This is independent of any claims emanating from, for instance, cont-racts, negligence or other culpable actions.
  • The product, which is accompanied by this warranty and liability declaration (no matter the version or designation), in particular cannot be used in a legally binding manner to determine one’s capability to operate vehicles or execute action that could lead to personal injury or injury to others under the influence of alcohol.
  • The thorough check for damage of all products upon receipt, calibration suitable for the given use by the buyer and the proper use, maintenance and service according to the instructions of the accompanying ACE Handels- und Entwicklungs GmbH product literature are mandatory prerequisites of this warranty. Maintenance and service work performed by non-qualified persons as well as the use of non-approved consumables or spare parts results in the voiding of this warranty. As for all technically challenging products, it is a fundamental prerequisite and mandatory for the ACE Handelsund Entwicklungs GmbH warranty that all users of this product are familiar with the properties and restrictions of the devices as stated in the respective literature.

ADVICE RESTRICTION

The buyer is solely responsible and confirms that they have checked the intended use and suitability of purchased goods for any purpose. Between the two parties, it is expressly agreed that all technical or other advice given by by ACE Handels- und Entwicklungs GmbH regarding the use of goods or services is free of charge and made under risk to the buyer exclusively. Therefore no obligation or liability can result to ACE Handels und Entwicklungs GmbH from any recommendation or their consequences.
