ANNULAR CUTTER MANUAL

The annular cutter is applied in drilling holes in steel, copper, brass, aluminum, stainless steel,
special alloys and rails.

Use Magnetic Seat Drilling Machine

  • Make sure the shank of cutter is tightened to the machine
    Cooling

  • Use Morse Tapers

  • Add sufficient coolant from the hole on the side of arbor

  • Compressed air can be used for chip removal when drilling material
    RPM

  • Construction and stainless steel: 0.08-0.12mm/rpm

  • Cast iron: 0.12-0.20mm/rpm

  • Non-ferrous metals: 0.22-0.45mm/rpm

  • Special alloys: 0.05-0.08mm/rpm

Recommend RPM Chart

Material| Carbon steel| Alloy steel| Stainless| Aluminum| Cast iron| Cast bronze
---|---|---|---|---|---|---
Diameter| RPM| RPM| RPM| RPM| RPM| RPM

Manual Drilling

  • Adequate pressure should be given gradually
  • Make sure that chips remove smoothly
  • It is wiser to remove the chips continuously when cutting deep holes
  • Fill the hole with anti-rust oil once the work is done

Automatic Drilling

  • It is not recommended to use the automatic model of magnetic drill
  • Automatic model may increase the chance of cutter breakage

End of Drilling

  • Turn off the motor until the spindle stops rotating
  • Remove the chips around the cutter

Operations That May Alleviate The Wear & Fracture of Cutters:

  1. Ensure sufficient cooling capacity and use proper coolant.
  2. Good drill pipe rigidity and guide rail clearance can improve drilling accuracy and its use-life.
  3. Please ensure the flatness and cleanliness between the magnetic base and the work piece.
  4. When drilling in thin plate, the workpiece shall be tightened. When drilling in large work piece, please ensure the stability of it.
  5. At the beginning and end of drilling, the feed rate shall be reduced by 1/3.
  6. For materials with large amount of fine powder during drilling, such as cast iron and cast copper, compressed air can be used to help remove chips without using coolant.
  7. Please remove the iron filings wound on the cutter in time to ensure smooth chip removal

Common problems and other treatment methods:

When Stuck:
Use non-metallic materials to gently tap the cutter, or gently press the material for several times to make it loose. You can also remove the cutter from dill machine and gently tap the center pin to push it out.

Cutter Wear:
Under normal cooling, when the color of iron filings is blue and black, it is necessary to check the cutter edge
. It is recommended to sharpen and grind the blades when the maximum wear width is greater than 0.5mm.

Caution:
Follow the safety precautions to avoid accidents.

  1. Please wear working clothes, gloves, safety goggles, face mask, etc. during operation to avoid danger.
  2. To prevent hand scratches, please use iron hook to remove the iron chips when drilling.
  3. Check whether the drill bit has any gap before use. Do not use it, if there are any gap.
  4. Turn off the motor immediately once the cutter is stuck.
  5. Ensure that the power of the equipment is disconnected when replacing the cutter.
  6. Do not touch the cutter when rotating.
  7. Please keep the cutter in good condition since the cutting edge is hard but brittle.
