Thank you for choosing the Chord PT-12 pedal tuner for easy and accurate
tuning of your instrument. Please read below for an explanation of the
controls and to get the best results from your new effect. The PT-12 is
supplied with a 9V battery, which needs to be connected to the battery clip
inside the underside battery compartment. Carefully remove the plastic cover
by squeezing its clip and levering outwards. Clip back into place once the
battery is fitted. Alternatively, the PT-12 can be powered from an external
9Vdc (centre-negative) power adaptor connected to the DC power in jack.
Adjacent to this is a DC power out jack for daisy-chaining DC power onto other
pedals.
Controls and connections are described below.
- A4 frequency calibration button
- Battery compartment
- Output jack
- Backlit LCD display
- DC power out
- DC power in
- Tuner on/off foot switch
- Input jack
The PT-12 pedal tuner is permanently set to chromatic tuning mode to detect any note between A0 and C8 (27.5 – 4186Hz). Press the foot switch to switch the tuner off or on. The tuner is only active when the display is lit, showing the detected note and a virtual needle. The output is muted when the tuner is active. When a note is in tune, the virtual needle with be in the center of the screen and the backlight will change color to green. Frequency for the A4 reference note should normally be 440Hz, but this can be calibrated between 430Hz and 450Hz using the rear push button if tuning to other instruments or tracks that are slightly out of standard tuning. Otherwise, ensure this is set to 440Hz.
Unplug the guitar input jack to preserve the battery when not in use. If the pedal is not being used for long periods, it is advised to remove the 9V battery. Optional external power can be from a 9Vdc adaptor, center-negative polarity with a rating of 100mA or higher recommended.
