- solid: reception is successful
- no symbol: no DCF reception
-
If the clock cannot detect the DCF-signal (e.g. due to interference, transmitting distance, etc.), the time can be set manually.
-
The clock will then work as a normal quartz clock (see: “Manual settings”).
Note on radio-controlled time
- The time is transmitted from an atomic clock near Frankfurt am Main by a DCF-77 (77.5 kHz) frequency signal with a range of about 1,500 km. Your radio-controlled clock receives the signal, converts it and always shows the exact time. The adjustment of Daylight Saving Time and Standard Time is also automatic.
- During night-time, the atmospheric interference is usually less severe. A single daily reception is adequate to
keep the accuracy deviation under 1 second. In extreme cases, please place the unit close to a window to improve reception.

Forecast
Weather forecast symbols
- The weather station has five different weather symbols (sunny, slightly cloudy, cloudy, rainy, stormy). (Fig.1-F3).
- The weather forecast relates to a range of 12 to 24 hours and indicates only a general weather trend.
For example, if the current weather is cloudy and the rain symbol is displayed, it does not mean the product is faulty because it is not raining. It simply means that the air pressure has dropped and the weather is expected to get worse but not necessarily rain.
Trend arrows
- The trend arrows on the display will show whether the atmospheric pressure of the last 3 hours is increasing, steady or decreasing.
Increase (+1-2 hPa): Weather improvement
Fast increase (>+2hPa): Significant weather improvement
Steady (+-1hPa): Stable weather conditions
Decrease (-1-2 hPa): Weather deterioration
Fast decrease (>-2hPa): Significant weather deterioration
Atmospheric pressure
- The relative atmospheric pressure (Fig.1-F2) is referred to the sea level’s pressure and has to be adjusted first to your local altitude (see: “Manual settings”).
Developing of atmospheric pressure
- The bar graph indication (Fig.1-F1) of atmospheric pressure shows the last 24 hours.
- The “0h” in the middle of this scale is equal to the current pressure and each change (±2, ±4, ±6) represents how high or low in “hPa“ the past pressure was compared to the current pressure (Fig.1-F2) .
- If the bars go down, it means the atmospheric pressure has dropped and the weather is expected to get worse.
- If the bars are rising it means that the weather is getting better
Wind
Wind speed
-
The wind wheel symbol (Fig.1-E2) is animated when it is windy and moves according to the wind speed:
One loop per 2 seconds: Wind speed < 5 km/h
One loop per second: Wind speed > 5km/h -
In the setting mode you can select the unit of the wind speed in km/h (default), m/s or Beaufort (see “Manual settings”).
-
The current wind speed (WINDSPEED) (Fig.1-E5) corresponds to the average value of 5 seconds. The maximum value is transmitted every 31 seconds.

- In addition, the PREVAILING DIRECTION (Fig.1-E4) of the last hour is displayed. In the setting mode, you can choose between showing the cardinal direction or the number of degrees on the display (see “Manual settings”).
“Feels Like” temperature (WIND CHILL)
- Wind Chill (Fig.1-E8) is a calculative value of outdoor temperature (of CH1) and wind speed.
- Note : The wind chill calculator only works for temperature at or below 10°C and wind speeds above 4.83 km/h (3 mph), otherwise the current outdoor temperature is displayed.
Rain
Rainfall amount indication
-
The rainfall amount of today (since 0:00h) (Fig.1-D5) is shown in mm and on a corresponding graph (Fig.1-D4). If the display range of the daily rainfall for the graph is exceeded (>30 mm), the symbol “>” appears above the 30mm indication.
-
When it starts to rain the rain drop symbol (Fig.1-D3) begins to flash. If there is no precipitation for 30 minutes, the drops are no longer displayed.
-
Press the RAIN button (Fig.1-G) in normal mode to switch between the rainfall displays for different time intervals (Fig.1-D7):
The last selected display is permanently active (default 24 HRS).- Rainfall amount of the last hour (1HR)

Mounting
Base station positioning
- With the foldable leg at the back (Fig.1-S) , the base station can be placed onto any flat surface.
- The base station can be wall mounted at a chosen location by the mounting holes found at the back of the unit (Fig.1-P). Make sure to avoid the vicinity of any source of interference such as computer screens, TV sets or solid metal objects. Within solid walls, especially ones with metal parts, the transmission range can be reduced considerably.
- Do not use the product in the vicinity of radiators, other sources of heat or in direct sunlight.
Installation of the transmitters
- Before the final installation, make sure that the measured values are transmitted from the transmitter at the desired installation site to the base station in the living area.
- Also make sure that the transmitters are easily accessible for cleaning and maintenance. The outdoor transmitters should be cleaned from time to time, since dirt and debris will affect the sensor’s accuracy.
Temperature-humidity sensor (Fig.2)
- When placed outdoors, choose a shady and dry place for the temperature-humidity sensor. Direct sunlight may trigger incorrect measurement and continuous humidity damages the electronic components needlessly.
Rain sensor (Fig.3)
- Place the rain sensor horizontally in an area where rain can fall directly into the container, ideally 60 to 90 cm above the ground on a small platform.
- You can tighten the rain sensor in the desired position with four screws (Fig.3-F).
Wind sensor (Fig.4)
- Make sure that the wind can blow freely around the wind sensor and is not blocked by nearby buildings, trees or any other objects.
- For best results, we recommend mounting the wind sensor on a mast, ideally 3 metres above any obstructions.
- Try to install the wind sensor so that it will be exposed to the normal wind conditions in your area.
- Attach the delivered adjustable base (Fig.4-H) to a mast (ø 25-28mm). Matching metal brackets and nuts are included in the scope of delivery.
- The adjustable base can also be attached to a surface. First screw the base in the desired position with the four screws (Fig.4-K). The adjustable base may be rotated by 90°/180°. Open the fixing screw (Fig.4-J) and loosen the adjustable base (Fig.4-H). Turn it in the desired position and tighten the fixing screw again.
- Make sure that the adjustable base is securely fastened.
- Then place the wind sensor on the adjustable base (Fig.4-E) and fix it with the screws (Fig.4-F).
- The wind wheel points upwards and the wind vane downwards.
- Ensure the wind sensor is mounted level with the solar panel (Fig.4-B) facing directly to the South. This will help optimize battery life and transmit correct wind direction. Use a compass if necessary.
Additional outdoor transmitters (optional) Cat.-No. 30.3249.02
- When having more than one temperature-humidity sensor, select a different channel for each one with the CH 1/2/3 switch (Fig.2-G) inside the transmitter’s battery compartment. Insert two new AA 1.5 V batteries, polarity as illustrated. Start the base station operation or the manual search for the outdoor transmitters.
- The outdoor values and the channel number will be shown on the base station display (Fig.1-C2). If you have installed more than one temperature-humidity sensor, press the CHANNEL button (Fig.1-N) on the base station to change between the channels 1 to 3.
- You can also choose an alternating channel display. Press CHANNEL button. After the last registered channel (1 to 3) a circle symbol (Fig.1-C1) will appear. To deactivate the function press the CHANNEL button again.
- After a successful installation close the outdoor transmitter’s battery compartments carefully.
Care And Maintenance
- Clean the devices with a soft damp cloth. Do not use solvents or scouring agents.
- Make sure that the wind cups and the vane can spin freely and are free from dirt, debris or spider webs.
- Check and clean the rain gauge periodically for optimum performance of the rainfall measurement. The funnel should be routinely cleaned and freed from leaves and dirt.
- Remove the batteries if you do not use the devices for a long period of time.
Battery Replacement
- As soon as the corresponding battery symbols appears in the display, please change the batteries of the base station (Fig.1-B4) or transmitters (Fig.1-C6, Fig.2-E, Fig.1-D2, Fig.1-E3).
- Please note: When the batteries are changed, the contact between the outdoor transmitters and the base station must be restored – so always restart all devices or start a manual transmitter search (see “Outdoor values reception”).
