• Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children.
• Never let children push anything into holes or slots in the cabinet or casing — this could result in an electric shock.
• Before plugging into mains socket, check whether supply line voltage and current rating are in compliance with the rated electrical parameters shown on the rating label.
• To prevent damage to the mains cord, do not let it pass over sharp corners, edges or hot surfaces.
• If the supply cord is damaged, do not use. Check before each use!
• if the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a special cord or assembly available from the manufacturer or its service agent.
• Always unplug when not in use.

Do not use rechargeable batteries in this appliance.

• Always turn the unit off, when not in use. Leaving it on will shorten the life of the batteries.
• If you plan not to use the unit for a length of time, remove the batteries. Old batteries can leak and cause corrosion, damaging the unit.
• The use of long life alkaline batteries is recommended.
• DON’T throw the battery in fire or dispose of in household waste. Consult your local authority in the correct way to dispose of unwanted batteries.
• DON’T short-circuit the supply terminals of the battery.
• Always check the correct polarity when inserting the battery. Incorrect polarity can damage this unit.

LOCATION OF CONTROLS

A-Function Switch
Toggle the switch to ‘on’ for continuous playback of the radio. Toggle the switch to ‘off’ to turn the Radio to standby. Once setting the alarm time, setting the switch to ‘auto’ will leave the radio on standby until the alarm time is reached, in  which the radio will turn on to wake the user.
B – AM/FM Tuning Dial
The tuning dial indicates what frequency is being received by the radio.
C- Sleep Timer Button
Press and hold the sleep timer button and use the hour and minute buttons to set the sleep timer. This will allow the user to set a predetermined length of time for the radio to play until it switches off. This can be set up to 2 hours.
D- Time Button
Press and hold the time button and use the hour and minute buttons to set the clock time.
E- Alarm Button
Press and hold the alarm button and use the hour and minute buttons to set the alarm time.
F- Snooze Button
Press the snooze button while the alarm is sounding for an extra 9 minutes (approx.) sleep.
G- Hour button
Press the hour button repeatedly to set the hour on the clock.
H- Minute button
Press the minute button repeatedly to set the minute on the clock.
I- Rotary Tuning Control
Use the rotary tuning control to move the dial along to locate a station of your choice.
J- Band Selector Switch
Use the function switch to select between AM & FM radio bandwidths.
K- Rotary Volume Control
Use the rotary volume control to increase or decrease the volume accordingly. Exercise caution when listening at high volumes for long periods of time, as it could cause hearing damage. Turning the volume control to ‘Buzz’ will cause the  unit to beep when the alarm is triggered instead of operating the radio.
L- Speaker
The speaker outputs the audio from the radio.
M- Battery Compartment
Insert 1 x PP3 9v Battery (not included). This acts as a backup battery in case there is a loss of power through the mains supply (i.e. a power cut in the house). The radio alarm clock will continue to function as normal to ensure that the  alarm still sounds at the correct time.
N- Multi-Directional Antenna
Unwind the antenna and let it hang safely. The antenna is multi-directional so should be able to pick up the signal from any direction.
O- Power Cord
Connect the power cord to a suitable 220-240v-50Hz mains supply.

OPERATION

RADIO OPERATION

1. TURN the volume control CLOCKWISE FULLY before use to ensure the volume is OFF. This will also protect against hearing damage as the volume can be gradually increased to a comfortable level.

2. TOGGLE the function switch to the ‘ON’ position to OPERATE the radio.

3. TOGGLE between AM & FM on the band selector switch to choose between AM or FM wavebands.

4. SLOWLY TURN the volume control dial ANTI­ CLOCKWISE to gradually INCREASE the volume. The volume control dial will CLICK to notify the user that the volume control is OPERATIONAL. Keep ROTATING the dial ANTI­ CLOCKWISE to find a suitable listening volume.

5. Use the tuning control to BROWSE through the frequencies within AM or FM wavebands to find a suitable radio station to listen to. Use the AM/FM tuning dial to CHECK the frequency.

6. UNWIND the antenna cable and let it HANG to help IMPROVE the reception.

7. After use, SWITCH the radio OFF by toggling the function switch to the ‘OFF’ position.

SETTING THE TIME

1. PRESS and HOLD the Time Button.

2. CONTINUING to HOLD the Time button, REPEATEDLY PRESS the Min button to set the minute counter on the clock. The minute counter will cycle up from 00:00- 00:59.

3. CONTINUING to HOLD the time button, REPEATEDLY PRESS the Hour button to set the 24 hour counter on the clock. The hour counter will cycle up from 00:00 — 23:00.

4. RELEASE the time button.
   The time is now set.

Note: The numbers will only go up so if you miss the intended number you will need to cycle back through the range of numbers again.
Note: this is a 24 hour clock; therefore, if the time is 8pm, the clock will need to be set to 20:00.

SETTING THE ALARM

1. ENSURE that the time is set correctly using the ‘setting the time’ section within this manual.

2. PRESS and HOLD the alarm button.

3. CONTINUING to HOLD the Alarm button, REPEATEDLY PRESS the Min button to set the minute counter on the clock. The minute counter will cycle up from 00:00 – 00:59.

4. CONTINUING to HOLD the alarm button, REPEATEDLY PRESS the Hour button to set the 24 hour counter on the clock. The hour counter will cycle up from 00:00 – 23:00.

5. RELEASE the alarm button.

6. TOGGLE the function switch to AUTO.

7. SET the volume dial to BUZZ MODE if you wish to be woken by the buzzer.

8. SET the volume dial to a SUITABLE volume level if you wish to be woken by the radio.

9. The alarm will sound at the time set by the alarm.

Note: The numbers will only go up so if you miss the intended number you will need to cycle back through the range of numbers again.
Note: this is a 24 hour clock; therefore, if the user needs to wake at 8am, the alarm needs to be set at 08:00.
If the user requires the alarm to sound at 8pm, the alarm needs to be set at 20:00.
SNOOZE FUNCTION
When the alarm sounds, press the snooze button if you wish to have a few extra minutes in bed. This will silence the alarm and delay it for approximately 9 minutes until it will sound again. To cancel the snooze function, toggle the function switch to the off position.
DISENGAGING THE ALARM
Once the alarm sounds, toggle the function switch to the off position to disengage the alarm, or by pressing SLEEP or ALARM button.
9V BATTERY BACKUP
This model comes with a battery backup facility, which requires 1 x PP3 9v Battery (not Included). This ensures that the alarm clock continues to function in the event of a power failure to the mains supply.
Note: the 9v battery will  continue to operate the clock to ensure the alarm still sounds at the correct time but it will not illuminate the clock display.
SLEEP FUNCTION
This model allows users to set the radio playback for a predetermined length before it cuts out. This is useful when going to sleep so that the radio does not continue to play throughout the night.

1. TOGGLE the function switch to either the OFF or AUTO position.

2. PRESS the sleep button.
   This will turn the radio playback on for a period of 59 minutes AUTOMATICALLY.

3. To CHANGE the predetermined time for the sleep function, PRESS and HOLD the sleep button. The clock display will show 00:59. Use the HOUR and MINUTE BUTTONS to CHANGE the length of time that the sleep function  operates.
   The LONGEST time period allowed is 1 hour and 59 minutes (1 :59).

4. If you wish to CANCEL the sleep function period BEFORE the predetermined time is finished, simply PRESS the snooze button.

Note: the alarm will trigger in the morning by playing back radio audio. Playback will be at the same volume as the radio was left at during sleep mode so take care not to set the volume too low when operating the sleep function.

CLEANING AND CARE

MAINTENANCE
This appliance has been designed to operate over a long period of time with a minimum of maintenance.
Continuous satisfactory operation depends upon proper care and regular cleaning.
CLEANING
The exterior surface of the appliance should be wiped with a clean dry cloth only.
DO NOT
Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents or polish on any part of the appliance.

WEEE/ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

DISPOSAL OF ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT
Do not dispose of this product with household waste. For the proper treatment, recovery and recycling please take this product to the appropriate waste collection point. If you are unsure where this may be, please contact your local  authority.
Improper disposal may be harmful to the environment.
PRODUCT END OF LIFE AND BATTERY DISPOSAL
The battery contains substances that may pollute the environment. At end of life for the product, always remove the battery and separate before you discard the product at your local waste collection point. Both battery and product should  be disposed separately. If you have trouble removing the battery, then you should contact a qualified technician or authorised service centre.
Contact your local authority for details and locations of official waste collection points. Do not dispose of batteries or product with normal household waste.

FITTING A NEW UK PLUG

Your appliance operates on 220-240¥-50H AC Mains and comes fitted with a 3-pin BS Approved plug so that it is ready for use for the UK or Eire market. If for any reason you need to fit a new plug, the flexible mains lead must be connectedas shown below.
IMPORTANT:
The wires in the mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code
BLUE: NEUTRAL (N)
BROWN: LIVE(L)
As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this appliance may not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows
The BLUE wire must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter N” or coloured BL ACK The BROWN wire must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter L” or coloured RED DO NOT CONNECT  EITHER WIRE ‘L’ OR N’ TO THE EARTH TERMINAL OF A 3-PIN PLUG Always ensure that the Mains Cord is located into the Plug through the Cord Guard or Cable Clamp, and that the Cord Guard screws are tightened to clamp the  Cord (outer sheath and inner coloured wires) in position in the Plug. Make sure the Plug top is also fitted securely
The supply cord cannot be replaced.If the supp/y cord is damaged, the appliance should be scrapped
This appliance must be protected by a 3Amp fuse in a 13 Amp type (BS1363) plug Should you need to replace the fuse, use only an ASTA approved BS1362 fuse
