Home Assistant OS Installation

Step 1 Download the OOWOW image for VIM3
We only need the SD card for the installation process; once the installation is complete, we won’t need the SD card anymore. -
Step 2 Use Balena to flash OOWOW to the SD card
After downloading the linked file to your desktop, use the commonly used Balena Etcher software to flash OOWOW to the SD card.

Step 3 Start VIM3 from the SD card
Now insert the SD card into the VIM3 slot, connect VIM3 to the power supply, display, and keyboard, then power it on. -
Step 4 OOWOW will start automatically
VIM3 will boot into OOWOW automatically, and the OOWOW Wizard will appear on the screen.

Select the Home Assistant image for burning Follow the prompts from the OOWOW Wizard to connect to the network. Then, on the OOWOW image selection screen, choose HA OS.

Step 6 Begin the download and wait a few seconds
Download the official Khadas HA OS image.

Step 7 Write HA OS to VIM3’s eMMC storage.
Now that the download is complete, the image needs to be written to VIM3’s eMMC. Click “write.”

Step 8 Restart VIM to complete the installation
HA OS has been written to VIM3’s eMMC. Go back to the OOWOW menu

Step 9 Upon restart, VIM3 will automatically boot into the Home
Assistant operating system. As you can see on the screen, VIM3 is now your smart home automation box.

Step 10 Log in to your Home Assistant
HA OS is now installed on VIM3. All you need to do is connect to its IP address from a browser to log in and enjoy efficient and secure DIY home automation!
