WHAT’S IN THE BOX
BEFORE YOU START
The device can be used with iOS 9.3 or Android 5.0 devices and all
subsequent operating systems.
However, your smartphone must also have Bluetooth 4.0+ (BLE) functionality, as the connection between your phone and MONIMOTO9U uses this technology. In the pictures below you can see MONIMOTO9U packed with LTE, 2G, GPS, Bluetooth, and other smart technology inside. It also contains an eSIM card (chip soldered to the board) and a rechargeable Lithium battery inside.
Additionally, MONIMOTO9U comes with a Key Fob that works on a proximity basis (using Bluetooth) to prevent the tracker from alarming when you move your own belongings. We recommend keeping it with the owner (not anywhere inside or on the bicycle) at all times. Why? If you keep it on your belongings and it gets stolen – the alarm will not start since MONIMOTO9U will see the key fob nearby.
Most users would naturally keep the keyfob with such keys, but we must warn you that if your belongings are stolen along with your keys and keyfob together, then the previously described situation will happen where the tracker is not able to alarm because it detects the nearby keyfob.
That is why we recommend keeping the Key Fob in a jacket, pants pocket, backpack, or bag – somewhere on your person. With that said, if you do decide to keep the keyfob together with any bicycle keys, we highly recommend making sure you always have your keys with you before leaving your belongings unattended

HOW MONIMOTO9U WORKS
MONIMOTO9U has 2 main modes – Ready Mode and Alarm Mode.
IMPORTANT:
The App uses internet connections as its primary way to communicate with the
device so it’s highly recommended to keep mobile data or Wi-Fi turned ON on
your Phone at all times.
Please note that MONIMOTO9U is not a ‘real-time’ tracking device. It does not have a constant connection with the LTE network and is not constantly sending its location. MONIMOTO9U connects to the LTE network and sends locations only when Alarm mode is triggered. This helps to considerably save battery life.
READY (ARMED) MODE
Once you go through the setup wizard and successfully configure your device –
you should see a green “READY” sign. This means MONIMOTO9U is ready to detect
any type of movement and notify you if the Key Fob is not around. You do not
need to activate MONIMOTO9U in any other way.
Moving the belongings
MONIMOTO9U remains in Ready (Armed) mode if the owner has a Key Fob while moving the belongings.
ALARM MODE
When MONIMOTO9U senses any type of motion, movement, or vibration, the first thing it does is a Key Fob check. If the Key Fob is not found, the device will enter Alarm mode.
When in alarm mode MONIMOTO9U first calls the owner’s number. It will call ONCE and after that, you will start receiving push notifications to the MONIMOTO9U app. You will see a GPS location if precise location data is received or an approximate location from LTE network triangulation using Cell ID if GPS is not available.
By default, you will get updates every 5-10 minutes (or every 2-3 minutes if Live Tracking is enabled) in Alarm mode while the movement continues. Once your MONIMOTO9U-equipped belongings have stopped moving you will be updated with the last location after 30 minutes and Alarm mode will be canceled. If movement resumes, the alarm will start again.
THESE TWO TIMELINES ILLUSTRATE HOW MONIMOTO9U BEHAVES TIME-WISE:
EXITING ALARM MODE
There are 4 ways an alarm is canceled and returns MONIMOTO9U back to Ready
(Armed) mode:
-
Exit Alarm with Key Fob
Once the Key Fob is detected within the 10m (~30ft) range, MONIMOTO9U will automatically return to Ready mode. -
Deactivate by app
You can turn off Alarm mode by app only when your phone is within Bluetooth signal range (Maximum 50m / ~150ft in an open area without obstacles). If you open the app, go to the Settings Tab and press “Connect” (establishing Bluetooth connection)– it will return to Ready (Armed) mode and cancel Alarm mode. If there is no motion for 30 minutes MONIMOTO9U cancels the alarm. -
Send to Sleep by App
Sleep mode can only be activated immediately after an alarm is triggered, and only when the user manually chooses to sleep on the device. You can put MONIMOTO9U to sleep for -
1- 24 hours using the app
This action will disarm MONIMOTO9U and you will not be able to bring it back to Ready (Armed) mode until the selected sleep period ends. When the sleep period ends it will return to Ready (Armed) mode automatically, no action is required. This can be useful if you’ve gone for a ride but forgot the Key Fob at home and want to stop receiving alerts and save battery life. Or if you gave your bike to a friend but forgot to give them the Key Fob.
PERIODIC CHECK
MONIMOTO9U regularly performs a battery check and updates the status of your
phone. If MONIMOTO9U encounters LTE network issues or batteries are drained
and periodic checks cannot be performed you will be notified in the app.
The frequency of periodic checks can be set using the MONIMOTO9U app.
We recommend sticking to the default setting and receiving periodic updates every day. This will assure you the device is working properly and will notify you when the battery is empty. By Default, periodic checks are not set to send a location. That can be adjusted from the Settings menu, however, we do not encourage you to have locations sent with periodic checks since it drains the battery significantly to send location updates.

- Switch off Bluetooth on your phone and close the Monimoto Application.
