SOURCE Sprinkler Head Safety-Bars
Instructions Manual
General
Sprinkler Head Safety Bars protect suspended fire suppression systems from
being accidentally struck by forklifts, trucks, and other machinery. The
Safety-Bars are attached to the racking, extending below the sprinkler head
and pipe. Self-tapping screws secure the Safety Bars to the racking and
they’re designed to not interfere with the function of the sprinkler heads.
Installation is fast and easy.
Sprinkler Head Safety Bars are custom-made to fit from the front to the back of
the rack. Accurate measurements must be approved by the purchaser before
production begins. Once the Sprinkler Head Safety Bars are approved for
purchase, request a prototype manufactured to your measurements. Install the
prototype to assure proper fit to adequately protect the sprinkler head or
sprinkler pipe. Once proper fit is confirmed, production will be scheduled.
Safety Information
Serious injury, bodily harm, or death may result if there is a failure to understand and comply with safety regulations. These instructions are not all- inclusive and are for reference only and are not intended to replace a competent person, knowledge or judgment of Federal and State Safety Standards. A new OSHA Rule is in affect: Walking-Working Surfaces, 1910.28, please consult this as well as all local, State and Federal OSHA rules. Always be aware of electrical hazards (ELECTRICITY KILLS). A minimum safe distance of 10 ft. away from power lines and other electrical hazards must be maintained at all times.
Installation
There are 2 basic types of Sprinkler Head Safety Bars. The Joined Leg design is used when the branch line with the sprinkler head runs parallel to the front and back rack beams. The Split Leg design is used when the branch line with the sprinkler head runs perpendicular to the front and back rack beams.
Each Sprinkler Head Safety Bar is shipped with 4 self-tapping hex screws. The Joined Leg design can be installed using 2 screws. The Split Leg design MUST be installed using 4 screws, one for each leg.
TO INSTALL: Two people are required for safe installation. Hold Safety- Bar firmly against rack beams in position to protect the sprinkler head/pipe. Position the self-tapping screw in the pre-drilled hole either in the horizontal or vertical side of the mounting plate, whichever is most convenient for the installer. Run screw completely into rack beam. Use at least 1 fastener on each side of the Joined Leg design and 4 fasteners, one in each leg, on the Split Leg design.
