Overview
Installing Batteries
A. Speaker Unit
- The Speaker unit requires 3 x AA batteries (not included) to operate. For best performance, use fresh, high quality AA alkaline batteries.
- To install them, unclip the battery cover on the rear of the Speaker to reveal the battery compartment. Insert batteries according to the polarity markings (+ and –) indicated inside the battery compartment.
B. Doorbell Unit
WARNING! THIS PRODUCT CONTAINS A COIN CELL BATTERY.
If swallowed, a lithium coin cell battery can cause severe or fatal injuries
within 2 hours.
The battery is hazardous if swallowed, keep out of reach of children.
If the battery compartment does not close securely, stop using the product.
If you think the battery may have been swallowed or placed inside any part of
the body, seek immediate medical attention.
-
The Doorbell unit is powered by 3 x LR44 1.5V alkaline batteries which come pre-installed.
-
To activate the batteries:
1. Remove the nameplate cover by lifting it off then remove the screw at the base of the Doorbell unit with a small Philips® screwdriver.
2. Insert a small flat-head screwdriver into the small notch above the screw hole at the base of the Doorbell unit and lift the front cover off.
3. Remove the plastic tab from the battery holder then snap the front cover back onto the Doorbell unit and fasten with the previously removed screw. -
Replacement of the batteries is necessary as soon as the LED indicator stops flashing when the Doorbell button is pressed.
Changing the Chime
- Remove the front cover of the Doorbell unit (as previously described above in “Installing Batteries – Doorbell Unit”).
- Inside the Doorbell unit, locate the Chime Select button as shown on the right. Press the Chime Select button to play the next tune on the Speaker. Keep pressing the button until you hear a tune you like. There are 38 tunes to choose from. You do not need to confirm your selection. The tune playing is the chime selected and the one that will be heard when the Doorbell button is pressed.
- Snap the front cover back onto the Doorbell unit and fasten with the screw.
Pairing the Doorbell with the Speaker
- Press the Code button on the rear of the Speaker with a paperclip or similar object.
- Press the Doorbell button. The Speaker will confirm pairing by playing a “Ding-Dong” sound.
Resetting the Speaker
First, remove 1 of the 3 batteries from the Speaker’s battery compartment.
Before installing the last battery, press and hold the Code button while
installing the last battery until a “Ding-Dong” sound is heard. This clears
the pairing information. You will need to pair the Doorbell unit again..
Mounting the Doorbell Unit
The Doorbell is mounted by sticking it to a wall using the included adhesive
strip.
The Doorbell is neither water nor weatherproof, and must be installed in a
sheltered location.
Exposure to rain, moisture or direct sunlight will adversely affect the
performance and durability of the doorbell.
- Find the area you want to mount the Doorbell unit. Flat, smooth surfaces are ideal. Make sure the surface is clean and dry before mounting.
- Avoid mounting the Doorbell unit on metal surfaces as this may reduce the transmission range.
- Peel off the covering of the adhesive strip, and attach the Doorbell unit to the wall in the location you want.
Mounting the Speaker Unit
If you would like to mount the Speaker, simply attach a screw to the wall.
Depending on the surface, you may need to drill guide holes and/or use masonry
plugs or dry wall anchors.
Do not insert the screw all the way. Leave about 7mm / ¼” protruding from the
wall. Then place the unit onto the screw, ensuring the head of the screw
passes through the mounting hole on the rear of the unit.
Troubleshooting
The Speaker does not work…
-
Check that the units are within 50 meters range of each other. Try placing the Speaker in another location nearer to the Doorbell.
-
Check that batteries are fitted correctly with matching polarity.
-
Batteries could be flat and need to be replaced. Use alkaline batteries only.
The Speaker plays the chime when the Doorbell button has not been pressed. -
Check that the Speaker is not being triggered by another remote like a garage door opener or similar wireless remote device.
-
Reset the Speaker and pair the Doorbell unit again.
-
Batteries could be running low. Try installing fresh batteries in the Speaker unit.
