Quick start guide
This document contains important information on the safe use of the product.
Read and follow the safety instructions and all other instructions. Keep the
document for future reference. If you pass the product on to others, please
include this document. Contents

Safety instructions
Intended use
This device is used for the tuning of string instruments. Any other use or use
under other operating conditions is considered to be improper and may result
in personal injury or property damage. No liability will be assumed for damage
resulting from improper use. This device may be used only by persons with
sufficient physical, sensory, and intellectual abilities and having
corresponding knowledge and experience.
Other persons may use this device only if they are supervised or instructed by
a person who is responsible for their safety.
Risk of injury and choking hazard for children!
Children can suffocate on packaging material and small parts. Children can
injure themselves when handling the device. Never allow children to play with
the packaging material and the device. Always store packaging material out of
the reach of babies and small children. Always dispose of packaging material
properly when it is not in use. Never allow children to use the device without
supervision. Keep small parts away from children and make sure that the device
does not shed any small parts (such as knobs) that children could play with.
Risk of fire due to incorrect polarity!
Incorrectly inserted batteries may cause fires and destroy the device and the
batteries. Observe the markings on the batteries and on the device. Ensure
that proper polarity is observed when inserting batteries.
Possible damage due to leaking batteries!
Batteries can leak and cause permanent damage to the device. Remove the
batteries from the device if it is not going to be used for an extended period
of time.
Operating location
Do not ever use this product:
- in direct sunlight
- in conditions of extreme temperature or humidity
- in extremely dusty or dirty places
- in locations where the device may get wet
- in the vicinity of magnetic fields
General handling
- To prevent damage, never exert force while operating the device.
- Never immerse the device in water. Wipe only with a clean and dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners such as benzene, thinners or flammable cleaning agents
- Not suitable for guitars with nitro lacquer or shellac. If left on instruments with a polyester finish, the lack of light irradiation at the mounting point can cause light-related discolouration on the instrument.
Keep the device away from impurities!
Keep the device away from containers with liquid. Should liquid enter the
device, this could lead to its destruction or fire. Ensure that no metallic
parts enter the device.

Inserting the battery
Risk of fire due to incorrect polarity!
Incorrectly inserted batteries may cause fires and destroy the device and the
batteries. Observe the markings on the batteries and on the device.
Ensure that proper polarity is observed when inserting batteries.

batteries from the device if it is not going to be used for an extended period
of time.
- Press on the battery compartment cover as shown on the back of the device.
- Open the compartment and insert a new CR2032 battery while paying attention to the polarity. The battery life depends on the operating conditions.
- If the device doesn’t work as described in this manual and if switching off and on doesn’t solve the problem, remove the battery and reinsert it again to solve the problem.

Operation

Connect the device to your instrument via the clip.

Press and hold for two seconds to switch the device on or off.

Select a mood. To do so, press repeatedly to select the “chromatic”, “guitar” or “bass” mood.
• If you choose “chromatic”, the display shows the note name.
• If you select “guitar” or “bass”, the display shows the string number and the note name. -
When you play a single note on your instrument, the note name or string number is displayed. The backlight changes and the measuring range is displayed.
• If the backlight turns green and the measuring display is in the centre, the note is tuned correctly.
• If the backlight turns blue and the indicator points left, the note is too low.
• If the backlight turns blue and the indicator points right, the note is too high. -
If the device is unable to detect a signal for three minutes after it has been switched on, it switches off automatically.

Environmentally friendly materials have been chosen for the packaging. These
materials can be sent for normal recycling. Ensure that plastic bags,
packaging, etc. are disposed of in the proper manner. Do not dispose of these
materials with your normal household waste, but make sure that they are
collected for recycling. Please follow the instructions and markings on the
packaging.
Batteries must not be thrown away or burnt, but must instead be disposed of in
line with the local regulations on the disposal of hazardous waste. They
should be returned to the manufacturer for disposal or recycled elsewhere in
accordance with your local regulations. Only dispose of lithium batteries when
they are empty. Remove lithium batteries from the device before disposal if
this is possible without destroying it. Protect used lithium batteries against
short circuit, for example by taping the poles. Dispose the built-in lithium
batteries to- gether with the device. Check for an appropriate collection
facility. Dispose of the batteries and rechargeable batteries at relevant
collection points or through your local waste facility.
This product is subject to the European Waste Electrical and Electronic
Equipment Directive (WEEE) as amended. Do not dispose of your old device with
your normal household waste; instead, deliver it for controlled disposal by an
approved waste disposal firm or through your local waste facility. When
disposing of the device, comply with the rules and regulations that apply in
your country. If in doubt, consult your local waste management facility.
Proper disposal protects the environment as well as the health of your fellow
human beings. Also note that waste avoidance is a valuable contribution to
environmental protection. Repairing a device or passing it on to another user
is an ecologically valuable alternative to disposal. You can return your old
device to Thomann GmbH at no charge. Check the current conditions on
www.thomann.de. If your old device contains personal
data, delete those data before disposing of it.
