OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Place hair setter on a flat surface and plug into an outlet. Press switch to the ON position. The ready signal will turn transparent white when rollers are ready to use. This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). As a safety feature, this plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature.
  2. Allow rollers to heat with the lid closed, as this will provide the fastest, most efficient heat-up. One roller has a “ready dot” on top. The ready dot will turn from red to transparent white, indicating optimum curling temperature has been reached. Once the rollers are hot, you can begin setting your hair. Allow rollers to heat longer for tighter curls. Never leave your hair setter on and unattended. Always unplug the hair setter when not in use. Allow hair setter to cool, and store in a safe place.
  3. Hair should be clean and dry or slightly damp — never wet — when setting. Hair will not set correctly if too damp.

Note: Do not use this on hair extensions.

MAINTENANCE
Your hair setter is designed for household use and is virtually maintenance- free. This product represents the highest standards of workmanship and engineering. If cleaning becomes necessary, disconnect the appliance from the power source. Allow to cool, and wipe the unit with a damp cloth. Occasionally, you may want to clean your rollers. To do so, use a damp cloth and mild detergent or soap. If abnormal conditions occur, unplug the hair setter, allow it to cool, and return it to an authorized service representative for repair.
STORAGE
Allow hair setter to cool. Handle the cord carefully for longer life; avoid jerking or straining at plug connections. Place hair setter out of reach of children in a safe, dry location.
To use all roller sizes for full, bouncy curls
Place large rollers at the crown for a lift. Place medium-size rollers on the sides and back and place smaller rollers at the nape of the neck. Or, randomly space medium and small rollers around the sides, back, and nape of the neck for varying curl sizes.
9 SMALL ¾-inch ROLLERS
Use on short hair or for tight curls.
5 MEDIUM 1-inch ROLLERS Use on short hair to create fullness and tight curls. Tight curls can be used at the nape of the neck and to frame your face.
6 LARGE 1¼-inch ROLLERS Use on medium to long hair to create a looser curl that’s bouncy and full of body.
The size of the curl will depend on the length of your hair, the size of the hair section, and the size of the roller. The smaller the section and roller, the tighter the curl, the bigger the section and roller, the looser the curl.

HOW TO CURL YOUR HAIR

1. Place ends of hair in teeth of starter strip and wind toward the scalp. Roll hair firmly and secure the roller with a clip by crossing the clip-over roller.

2. The firmness of the curl is determined by several factors: heat-up time, the diameter of the roller, and the length of time the roller is left in the hair. For tight, firm curls, use small- and/or medium size rollers. For longer-lasting curls, the rollers should be allowed to heat up longer and be left in the hair for a longer period of time before removing them.
3. It’s easy to create different looks with Curls & Waves rollers. If you want looser waves, use the large rollers at the crown of your head, medium in the middle, and small at the bottom. For tighter, more defined curls, start with smaller rollers on top, medium in the middle, and large on the bottom. Keep in mind that rolling larger sections of hair create
looser curls and rolling smaller sections of hair create tighter curls.
4. To remove rollers, hold the roller in one hand and remove the clip with the other hand. Gently release the roller (DO NOT PULL), and let the curl bounce back once the roller has been removed from the hair. Let cool for one minute for a good set, then style your hair as desired.
