Product Usage Instructions

Firmware Update

To ensure the best performance of your Onkyo AV Receiver, it is recommended to regularly update the firmware. Firmware updates can be installed via USB or Network. Please follow the steps below to update the firmware:

USB Update :

  1. Download the latest firmware update file from the official Onkyo website.
  2. Save the firmware update file to a USB flash drive.
  3. Connect the USB flash drive to the USB port on the AV Receiver.
  4. On the AV Receiver, go to the “Settings” or “Setup” menu.
  5. Select the “Firmware Update” or “Update” option.
  6. Choose “USB” as the update method.
  7. Select the firmware update file from the USB flash drive.
  8. Follow the on-screen instructions to start the firmware update process.
  9. Do not turn off the AV Receiver or disconnect the USB flash drive during the update process.
  10. After the update is complete, the AV Receiver will restart automatically.

Network Update:

  1. Ensure that the AV Receiver is connected to a stable internet connection.
  2. On the AV Receiver, go to the “Settings” or “Setup” menu.
  3. Select the “Firmware Update” or “Update” option.
  4. Choose “Network” as the update method.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to check for the latest firmware update.
  6. If a new firmware version is available, select “Update” to start the update process.
  7. Do not turn off the AV Receiver or interrupt the internet connection during the update process.
  8. After the update is complete, the AV Receiver will restart automatically.

The 09/05/2023 update will address the following :

  1. Fix the issue of displaying messages related to OSD signals when connecting the Optoma projector.
  2. Fix the issue where enabling Bluetooth transmission would prevent HLG display.
  3. Minor bug fixes and stability improvements.

The 03/30/2023 update will address the following :

  1.  Minor bug fixes and stability improvements.
  2. Update the supported speakers for Klipsch Optimized Mode. Add ceiling/wall-mounted speakers/subwoofers. Change the UI for speaker selection.
  3. Add ALLM, and VRR information to OSD Info/Status/One Shot display for input signals.

The 09/09/2022 update will address the following:

  1. Update the compatible speakers for Klipsch Optimized Mode. Add Klipsch Reference Premiere series new models.
  2. Improve the stability of the Bluetooth Transmitter function.
  3. Raise the upper limit of the Dirac delay time from 20 msec to 50 msec.
  4. Add a recovery process when a Network Error occurs in Dirac.
  5. Minor bug fixes and stability improvements.

The 05/18/2022 update will address the following:

  1. Add Klipsch Reference Premiere II series speakers to the compatible speakers for Klipsch Optimized Mode. (Including some update of Klipsch Reference series)
  2. Improve mic curve characteristics of Dirac live for the mic used for Dirac live calibration. If already calibrated, then please recalibrate Dirac live after this update.
  3. Minor bug fixes and stability improvements.

The 01/12/2022 update will address the following:

  1. Chromecast built-in version update to 1.52GM2.
  2. Improve reception capability in certain TuneIn Radio stations.
  3. Fix the issue that cannot playback Deezer in the condition of not log-in state.
  4. Fix the issue that Web Setup cannot be accessed depending on the measurement result of Dirac Live.
  5. Minor bug fixes and stability improvements.

The 10/14/2021 update will address the following:

  1. Chromecast built-in version updated to 1.52.
  2. Fix the no sound and video issue via eARC connection from SONY TV.

The 07/20/2021 update will address the following:

  2. Virtual Remote, Limit Mode, and HDMI diagnostic functions have been added to the Web Setup Menu.
  3. Fixed the problem that the audio format of TIDAL playback becomes AAC.
  4. Fixed the problem of color corruption in Dolby Vision games on Xbox.
  5. Fixed a problem where the image would not be displayed when VRR was turned on for Xbox.
  6. Fixed the problem where High Bit Rate Audio such as Dolby TrueHD would not be output when 4K or 8K resolution signals were input.
  7. Fixed the problem where audio would not be output from the TV speakers when playing High Bit Rate Audio signals such as Dolby TrueHD in TV audio output mode.
  8. Fixed a problem with the HDMI diagnostic function Source Test.

Firmware Update Instructions

Update the firmware via network or USB connection. “Updating the firmware via network” You can update the firmware by connecting the unit to a network. “Updating the firmware via USB connection” You need a 128 MB or larger capacity USB storage for updating.
