Product Usage Instructions
- Step 1: Read all instructions prior to installation.
- Step 2: Make sure the steam room wall studs are exposed to allow for proper installation of the bilateral steam head. If the walls are fully finished and studs are not accessible, please use a different type of steam head.
- Step 3: Locate the bilateral steam head as far from the seating area as possible for maximum comfort.
- Step 4: Install the steam head pipe with the pipe on top.
- Step 5: Ensure there are no air gaps between the outer edges of the bilateral steam head and the final wall material. Air gaps can cause steam leakage and water damage to the foundation.
- Step 6: Apply sealant between the left and right edges of the front cover and the wall tile to prevent the cover from sliding out.
FAQs
-
Q: What should I do if the walls are fully finished and studs are not accessible?
A: In such cases, you should use a different type of steam head that is suitable for installation without exposed wall studs. -
Q: Can the bilateral steam head be placed behind the backer board?
A: No, the bilateral steam head should not be placed behind the backer board. It may be slightly recessed back into the wall but must not protrude past the front of the tile. -
Q: How should I fill the gap between the tile/stone and the bilateral steam head?
A: A single bead of sealant can fill gaps up to 1/4 inch. If the gap is slightly larger, fill it in two steps. First, place a bead of sealant deeper into the gap, but not flush with the surface. Wait until the sealant is completely cured before adding a second bead on top of the first bead. -
Q: What should I do if there are air gaps between the bilateral steam head and the wall material?
A: Make sure there are absolutely no air gaps between the outer edges of the bilateral steam head and the final wall material. Air gaps can cause steam leakage and water damage to the foundation. Fill any gaps with sealant. -
Q: How should I prevent the cover of the bilateral steam head from sliding out?
A: Apply supplied sealant between the left and right edges of the front cover and the wall tile to ensure the cover does not slide out.

Instructions
Read all instructions prior to installation.
CAUTION Failure to read these instructions prior to installation may result in personal injury, property damage, or product failure. Manufacturer assumes no responsibility for product failure due to improper installation.
You may need:
IMPORTANT: To use the bilateral steam head, make sure the steam room wall
studs are exposed to allow for proper installation. If the walls are fully
finished and studs are not accessible, please use a different type steam head.
NOTE: For maximum comfort the bilateral steam head should always be
located as far from the seating area as possible.
- The bilateral steam head location should be 12” to 18” above the shower floor or 6” above the rim of the bathtub, as far from the seating area as possible. Do NOT install the steam head directly below the user control. For optimum performance, install the steam head on the wall opposite or adjacent and as far as possible from the user control.
INSTALLATION
-
Rough in the steam line using a minimum of a ¾” copper or brass pipe. Do NOT use black iron or galvanized pipe as it will rust and discolor the wall of the steam room. Do NOT use CPVC or any plastic type pipe, fitting or water type line as the steam pipe.
-
Place the bilateral steam head between wall studs (See Figure 2). Make sure that the front lip is placed in such way that it will be flush with the final wall material such as tile or stone (See Figure 4). If you are uncertain of the tile/stone thickness at the time of install, the front lip of the steam head may be slightly recessed back into the wall but must NOT be placed behind backer board and cannot protrude past front of tile (See Figure 3).
-
Make sure the bilateral steam head is level, left to right and front to back (See Figure 2).
-
Secure the bilateral steam head to wall studs using 8 screws or nails.
-
Connect the ¾” copper or brass pipe to the bilateral steam head.
-
Remove the front face cover by sliding it out of the bilateral steam head.
-
Proceed with steam room construction by insulating the walls and installing backer board onto the wall. Make sure to leave a proper size cutout in the backer board for the bilateral steam head. Do NOT leave a large gap between the backer board and the bilateral steam head.
-
Apply supplied sealant between the backer board and the outer edge of the bilateral steam head (See Figure 3).
-
Complete the wall construction with thinset and tile/stone. Make sure to leave a proper size cutout in the tile/stone for the bilateral steam head. Do NOT leave a large gap between the tile/stone and the bilateral steam head.
-
Apply supplied sealant between the tile/stone and the outer edge of the bilateral steam head (See Figure 3).
NOTE: Make sure there are absolutely no air gaps between the outer edges of the bilateral steam head and the final wall material. If air gaps are left, steam will leak between wall construction and cause water damage to foundation. -
Insert front face cover back into the bilateral steam head. Push it in until it makes contact with the wall.
-
Apply dabs of supplied sealant between the left and right edges of the front face cover and the wall tile/stone to make sure the cover does not slide out (See Figure 4).
NOTE: A single bead of sealant can fill gaps up to 1/4”. If the gap is slightly larger than this, fill it in two steps. First place a bead of sealant deeper into the gap, but not flush with surface. Wait until the sealant is completely cured before coming back to run a second bead on top of the first bead (See Figure 3). -
Cure time of the supplied sealant: 1/4” gap = 5 days, 1/2” gap = 10 days.
