How to use
How to use the new DisplayLink macOS App?
We recommend proceeding with following steps to install and use the new DisplayLink macOS App. They are to be followed once after installing the app
- First, uninstall the classic DisplayLink driver if you have it on your computer. Simply run the driver installer and select Uninstall.
- Download the DisplayLink macOS app and install it from the ZIP file
- Navigate in Finder to Applications and then open DisplayLink Manager
- Click on the DisplayLink Manager app icon from the notification area to open the app window. This confirms the software is installed and running properly
- Click on the preference “cog” icon in the bottom right corner of the DisplayLink Manager app, then select “Launch on startup” for the software to start automatically every time you log-in.
- Note: this is not compulsory but recommended to save you from repeating step 1.3 each time you login.
- Now connect the peripheral with DisplayLink technology and navigate to your System Preferences to open Security & Privacy
- Enable “Screen Recording” to allow the DisplayLink Manager app to capture pixels and send them to your USB peripheral:
- Select the “Privacy” tab
- Navigate to “Screen Recording” in the list on the left
- Then tick the “Screen Recording” permission for DisplayLink Manager.
- NOTE: DisplayLink driver requires that permission to capture pixels and send them through USB. DisplayLink driver does NOT record screen data.
- Because the new permission will only be active the next time you start the application, macOS will invite you to “Quit Now”. Please accept.
- Now it has adequate permissions, re-open DisplayLink Manager from Applications in the Finder.
- Your displays are now working properly.

Tips:
- For Windows Users:
- Once setup is complete, Windows will either ‘Duplicate’ your internal laptop display to a monitor connected to the dock, or ‘Extend’ your desktop to add more space for applications and icons.
- This can be changed by right-clicking on an empty space of your desktop and selecting Display Settings from the menu that appears.
- For Mac Users:
- To adjust your displays, go to System Preference and click on Displays,
- Under the Arrangement tab, you can adjust your display arrangement and choose your desired location for your menu bar.
Please note: If one screen can be shown instead of two screens when connect display ports,
- please check if the laptop recognized the additional external display or check whether the HDMI cable is in place or try to replace the HDMI cable.
- If all the above points are confirmed.
- Please reduce the external monitor resolution through the laptop to solve this issue.
- If the laptop recognized the external monitor, please find the following Intel Graphics Control Panel, operate as needed.
