Important Safety Instructions

This user manual contains important instructions that should be followed during installation and maintenance of the UPS and batteries.

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/ or injury to persons including the following:

Risk of fire, explosion, or burns!

  • Risk of explosion if the battery is replaced by an incorrect type. Dispose of used batteries according to the instructions.
  • Do not dispose batteries in fire. The batteries may explode.

Risk of energy hazard!

  • 24 V, maximum 20 Ampere-hour battery.
    Before replacing batteries, remove conductive jewelry such as chains, wrist watches, and rings. High energy through conductive materials could cause severe burns.

Risk of injury!

  • Do not open or mutilate batteries.
    Released materials is harmful to the skin and eyes. It may be toxic.

Risk of electric shock!

  • To avoid electric shock, switch off the unit and unplug it from the AC power source before the battery is removed.
  • Hazardous live parts inside can be energized by the battery even when the AC input power is disconnected.
  • The UPS must be connected to an AC power outlet with fuse or circuit breaker protection. Do not plug into an outlet that is not grounded. If you need to de-energize this equipment, turn off and unplug the unit.
  • Do not remove the cover except to service the battery. There are no user serviceable parts inside except for the battery. Switch off and unplug the product before replacing the batteries.
  • A battery can present a risk of electric shock and high short-circuit. The following precautions should be observed when working on batteries:
    a ) Remove watches, rings, or other metal objects.
    b ) Use tools with insulated handles.
    c ) Wear rubber gloves and boots.
    d ) Do not lay tools or metal parts on top of batteries.
    e ) Disconnect charging source prior to connecting or disconnecting battery terminals.

Risk of fire or electric shock!

  • Do not use the product on any transportation such as airplanes or ships. The effect of shock or vibration caused during transit and the damp environment may cause the product to short out.
  • Disconnect Device Requirement – for PLUGGABLE EQUIPMENT, the socket-outlet shall be installed near the equipment and shall be easily accessible.
  • The maximum ambient operating temperature of the UPS is 104 °F (40 °C).
  • Do not use surge protectors or extension cords with the UPS.
  • Do not use for medical or life support equipment.
  • Do not use with or near aquariums.
  • Do not use the UPS on transportation means.
  • This UPS is intended for installation in a temperature controlled, indoor area free of conductive contaminants.
  • The UPS shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing and that no objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the UPS.
  • Use only VOE-tested, CE-marked mains cable, (e.g. the mains cable of your equipment), to connect the UPS to the AC outlet. Use only VOE-tested, CE marked power cables to connect any equipment to the UPS.
  • This product is suitable for mounting on concrete or other non-combustible surface only.

Additional Battery Warnings

  • Keep batteries out of the reach of children.
  • If the battery leaks avoid contact with skin and eyes. Rinse affected areas immediately with plenty of clean water, then consult a doctor.
  • The installed batteries shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire or the like.
  • If the UPS appears to be bulging or shows other undesirable phenomena (e.g. excess noise), stop using it immediately.
  • Do not cover the UPS while in operation.
  • When in long term storage, charge this product once every 3 months to avoid shortening its battery life.

Before First Use

Risk of suffocation!

  • Keep any packaging materials away from children – these materials are a potential source of danger, e.g. suffocation.
  • Remove all the packing materials.
  • Check the product for transport damages.
  • Before connecting the product to the power supply, check that the power supply voltage and current rating corresponds with the power supply details shown on the product rating label.
  • Choose a socket-outlet that is a brand circuit protected by a fuse or a circuit breaker and does not connect in parallel to appliances or equipment with a large power consumption.
  • Determine the power requirements of all connected equipment. Make sure that the plugged equipment does not exceed the product’s rated capacity. If the rated capacity of the product is exceeded, the product may overload and the circuit breaker may trip. We suggest not to exceed 80% of the product capacity.

To ensure the maximum batteries’ capacity, it is recommended to charge the battery for at least 24 hours before first use.

The UPS is equipped with a delivery safety lock. The UPS needs to be connected to the power supply before the initial start-up.

Product Description

Operation

Leave at least 20 cm of space around all sides of the product for proper ventilation.

  • Avoid direct sunlight.
  • Avoid excessive heat.
  • Avoid excessive humidity.
  • Avoid excessive dust.
    Positioning

Grounding the product

Use the TVSS screw (N) to ground the UPS permanently. Connect a ground wire to the TVSS screw (N) and then connect another side to ground connection. Prior to connecting a ground wire, disconnect the UPS from power supply.

Connecting an external IT equipment

Risk of damage!

  • Do not connect equipment with a combined power consumption of more than 1000 VN 700 W for B0851 BWPHF (ACMT1 0OOE) and 1500 VA / 1100 W for B0851 C2M35 (ACMT1500E).

It is recommended not to exceed 80% of the product’s total capacity. Do not connect larger appliances, such as laser printers, paper shredders, heaters etc. The power requirement of such equipment might overload and potentially damage the product.

  1. Use the power cable of the external equipment and connect it to the AC input socket (P). Connect the other end to the appropriate socket-outlet.
  2. Connect one end the IEC output power cable (R) to the outlet (L) and the other end to the external equipment.

Switching on/off

Battery backup & surge protection outlets (L)

The outlets {L) provide battery backup and surge protection. In case of a power outage, battery power is automatically provided to these 8 outlets.

  • Press and hold the power button (A) for 2 seconds or press the power button (A) and then press the enter button (H). The UPS beeps and the online indicator (B) and the LCD display (D) lights up.
  • The UPS now supplies power to the connected equipment.
  • In case of a power outage, the on battery indicator (C) lights up and the UPS beeps twice in 30 seconds to indicate the battery backup mode operation.

it an overload is detected, the UPS beeps and the LCD display (D) shows a warning message. Switch off the UPS and unplug at least one connected equipment so that the maximum capacity is not exceeded. Wait 1 O seconds and press the RESET button (0). Then switch on the UPS again.

Automatic voltage regulation

The UPS features AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulation) that allows it to stabilize the inconsistent power input to voltage levels that are safe to connected external equipment.
Once AVR protection is activated, the LCD display (D) shows that the UPS is in AVR operation mode.

Connecting to a computer

The POWERMASTER+ software enables you to view the connection and energy consumption status as well as configure the product. Use the type A to type B USB cable (Q) or serial cable (not provided) to connect the UPS to a computer.

Software download and installation

  • Visit www.amazon.com website.
  • Search for product code B0851 BWPHF or B0851 C2M35.
  • Scroll down the page to “Technical Specification” section and download the POWERMASTER+ software.
  • Launch the software and follow the on-screen setup instructions.

Connecting to an emergency power off switch

Risk of electric shock!

  • Adhere to all local and national electrical codes.
  • Wiring should be performed by a qualified electrician.
  • Failure to follow these instructions can result in minor or moderate injury.

The Emergency Power Off (EPO) port (M) is a safety feature that can be used to immediately shut down the UPS and cut off its power supply to connected equipment in the event of a fire or building evacuation. When the EPO button is pushed, all connected equipment will immediately switch off and will not switch to battery power. Once power has been cut off, you will need to manually press the power button (A) to restart the UPS and resume power delivery to the connected equipment.

  • The EPO can be controlled from a central EPO push-button. It aims to ensure there is no risk of electrical shock when fire extinguishers or sprinklers are set off inside the room.
  • The EPO circuit is typically closed and will open to initiate the shutdown.
  • When installing an EPO circuit, it is essential to ensure the connection method used matches the type of UPS. For a single UPS unit only one switch contact is necessary.
    However, with a parallel UPS installation with multiple units, an individual switch contact must be provided for each of the UPS.

Installation

  • Press and hold the power button (A) to switch off the UPS, then unplug from the socket outlet.
  • Follow the appropriate circuit diagram to wire an EPO cable (not provided) to your EPO configuration.

  • After wiring, make sure the external EPO switch is not activated to enable UPS output.

  • Plug the UPS into a socket-outlet and switch the UPS on by pressing the power button (A).

  • Activate the external EPO switch to test the function . Check the status change of UPS from the LCD display (D).

  • De-activate the external EPO switch and restart the UPS via power button (A).
    Use one of the following cable types to connect the UPS to the EPO switch.

  • CL2: Class 2 cable for general use.

  • CL2P: Plenum cable for use in ducts, plenums, and other spaces used for environmental air.

  • CL2R: Riser cable for use in a vertical run in a floor-to-floor shaft.

  • Use standard low voltage cable in accordance with national and local regulations. Normally closed EPO switch

  • Press the button (E) to enter menu selection page and scroll through different settings.
  • Use the button (F/G) and  button (H) to select the setting item and to complete the setting.
  • Press the button (E) to exit the sub-menu and return to the previous menu.

  • Always connect the(+) red battery cable/connector to the(+) red connector/terminal on battery pack (positive to positive). Connect the(-) black battery cable/connector to the (-) black connector/terminal on battery pack (negative to negative).

Battery pack for ACMT1500E and ACMT1500E is different from capacity and physical size.

  1. Switch off and unplug all the connected equipment.

  2. Switch off the UPS and disconnect it from the power supply.

  3. Remove the front panel.

  4. Remove the two screws from the battery compartment cover.

  5. Remove the battery compartment cover and set aside. Use the plastic strips to pull the battery out, then disconnect the battery terminals.

  6. Reconnect the new battery to the UPS, then fully insert the new battery back into the UPS housing.

  7. Replace the battery compartment cover and tighten screws, then attach the front panel.

  8. Once the new battery is fully installed, charge the battery for 24 hours to ensure the UPS performs at expected runtime.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Risk of electric shock!

  • To prevent electric shock, unplug the product before cleaning.
  • During cleaning do not immerse the electrical parts of the product in water or other liquids. Never hold the product under running water.

  • To clean the product, wipe with a soft, slightly moist cloth.
  • Never use corrosive detergents, wire brushes, abrasive scourers, metal or sharp utensils to clean the product.
Maintenance
  • Replace the batteries after 3-6 years of use.
Storage
  • Store the product covered in a cool, dry location, with the battery fully charged.
  • Fully charge the battery every 3 months.
Transport
  • Switch off and disconnect all the connected equipment. Disconnect the UPS from power supply and then disconnect all the internal batteries.
  • Pack and secure the UPS properly to protect it from shocks and vibrations.
