AE TECHRON T3700 Transformer for Electric-Field Susceptibility Testing

Instructions

Application

The AE Techron T3700 Electric-Field Susceptibility Transformer was designed to meet or exceed the voltage require- ments of DO 160 Section 19 and Boeing D6-16050-5 Section 7.2 testing.
It may also be used as a 1-to-37 step- up transformer for voltages up to 3700 VRMS.

Description

The T3700 transformer is able to gen- erate up to a 3700 VRMS potential. It is withstand tested to 135% of rated output to ensure a long, trouble-free life. The turns ratio provides a 1-to-37 step up to the secondary winding.
The T3700 provides convenient input connectors via touch-proof,four-way binding posts. Standard 0.75-inch spacing of binding posts allows use of standard plugs.
A 1-amp fuse protects the unit against over-current conditions. A rugged,

Unpacking

Carefully unpack and inspect the unit. Please note any damage for future ref- erence and notify the shipping company immediately if damage is found. Also, please save the shipping carton and materials as evidence of damage and/or for returning the unit for repair.
Connecting the T3700 Transformer (see Figure 1 ) Before connecting the T3700, make sure all equipment you are connect- ing is disconnected from AC power.

  1. Connect from the signal generator or another signal source to an AE Techron amplifier
  2. Connect from a power amplifier, an- other power source, or a simulated load to your equipment under test.
  3. Connect from a power amplifier to the T3700 4-way binding post input Connection can be made with cables terminated with spade lugs, pin connectors or bare wire.
  4. Using the supplied connector and suitable cable, construct the output
  5. Connect to the T3700 positive (+) output connector.
  6. Connect the grounding connector to earth ground using appropriate wire and

WARNING: This transformer pro- duces potentially lethal voltages.

While no direct connections are made with the product chassis, the radiating magnetic field produced by the trans- former can produce voltage potentials on the product chassis. Connect the screw terminal grounding connector to earth ground to discharge any possible voltage potentials from the chassis.

NOTE: As per the Standard, the high-voltage output connection is not current limited. A resistor should be installed in the output wire for person- al protection.

**** Equipment Maintenance

To prevent electric shock, do not remove product covers. No user serviceable parts inside. Internal
fuses should only be replaced by a service technician. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.
Disconnect this product before cleaning. Use a damp cloth for cleaning. Clean the outside of the product only.
