Important Safeguards

Read these instructions carefully and retain them for future use. If this appliance is passed to a third party, then these instructions must be included.
When using the appliance, basic safety precautions should al lways be followed to reduce the risk of injury including the following:

  • Children and adults should be alerted to the hazards of high surface temperatures and should stay away to avoid burns or clothing ignition.
  • Young children should be carefully supervised when they are in the area of the appliance.
  • Clothing or other flammable materials should not be hung from the appliance or placed on or near the appliance.
  • Any guard, barrier, or other protective device removed for servicing the appliance shall be replaced prior to operating the appliance.

  • The appliance is intended to be used with a standard 1 b (0.45 kg) LP gas cylinder (not included). Do not connect the appliance to an LP gas cylinder that exceeds this capacity.
  • Use the appliance only outdoors. Do not use the appliance in a building, garage, or any other enclosed area.
  • The appliance is not intended to be installed in or on recreational vehicles and/or boats.
  • Keep the appliance area clear and free from combustible materials, gasoline, and other flammable vapors and liquids.
  • Only use the fire glass provided with the appliance.

Before First Use

Preparation

4.1 Choosing a suitable location

  • The appliance is for outdoor use only. Do not use it inside a building, garage, or any other enclosed areas.
  • Place the appliance in locations with adequate fresh air ventilation.

  • Do not store a spare LP cylinder under or near the appliance. Keep a minimum distance of 10 feet (3 meters) away from the appliance.

  • Keep children and pets away from the appliance. When children are near the appliance, they should be carefully supervised by an adult.

  • Combustible materials, gasoline, and other flammable vapors or liquids should be situated at least 26 feet (8 meters) away from the appliance.

4.2 Setting up the appliance
NOTICE

  • This appliance should be installed, maintained and operated only by an adult. If in doubt, consult a professional.
  • Install the appliance only to a table with a standard 2″ (5 cm) umbrella hole (not included). The tabletop must be between 0.79″ (2 cm) and 1.18″ (3 cm) in thickness and be capable of supporting the weight of the appliance and a standard 1 Ib (0.45 kg) LP gas cylinder.
  • The appliance is safe to use on wood, wicker, and composite tables.

4.3 Picking a suitable LP gas cylinder
DANGER Risk of fire!

  • Do not store a spare LP gas cylinder under or near this appliance.
  • Never fill the cylinder beyond 80 % full.
  • If the information above is not followed exactly, a fire causing death or serious injury may occur.

• The liquefied petroleum (LP) cylinder must be constructed and marked in accordance with the specifications for LP Gas Cylinders of the U.S. Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) or the National Standard of Canada, CAN/CSA-B339, Cylinders, Spheres and Tubes for Transportation of Dangerous Goods and Commission.
• The appliance must be used with a standard 1 lb (0.45 kg) LP gas cylinder (not included) marked “propane”.
• Do not use an LP gas cylinder if it has a damaged valve, or shows signs of dents, gouges, bulges, fire damage, corrosion, leakage, excessive rust, or other forms of visual external damage. Have the LP gas cylinder checked immediately by a liquid propane supplier.

Connecting/Disconnecting a Gas Cylinder

5.1 Connecting an LP gas cylinder

  2. Push an LP gas cylinder into the cylinder valve outlet and turn clockwise by hand to secure it in place. Do not overtighten (Fig. 8).

5.2 Disconnecting an LP gas cylinder
WARNING:Risk of fire or explosion!

  • Disconnect the LP gas cylinder when the appliance is not in use.
  • Do not transport or store the appliance with the LP gas cylinder connected. Before transport or storage, disconnect the LP gas cylinder and store it outdoors.
  • Do not disconnect the LP gas cylinder while the appliance is in use or is still hot.
  1. Push in the control knob (D) and turn it clockwise to switch the appliance off (Fig. 7). Release the control knob (D).
  2. Loosen the wing nut on the cylinder holder (G) (Fig. 9).

Gas Leak Test

DANGER: Risk of explosion!

  • Perform a gas leak test on the connection between the gas regulator and the LP gas cylinder when lighting the appliance for the first time, when the LP gas cylinder has been refilled/changed, after a travel over rough or bumpy roads or after a prolonged period of storage or non-use.
  • Do not smoke or use any type of flammable material in the area during this gas leak test.
  • Do not use an open flame to check for leaks. Always use a soapy water solution.
  1. Push in the control knob (D) and turn it clockwise to switch the appliance off (Fig. 7). Release the control knob (D).

  2. Connect an LP gas cylinder to the cylinder valve outlet of the gas regulator.

  4. Use the paint brush to apply the solution on the connection between the cylinder valve outlet and the LP gas cylinder (Fig. 11).amazon basics B0B12SFRFD 9000 BTU Round Tabletop Propane Gas Fire Pit - Parts16

  5. Visually inspect for streams of bubbles coming from the connection points. This indicates that there is gas escaping.
    • If no gas bubbles appear at any connections, the connections are secure.
    • If a leak appears, repeat connecting the LP gas cylinder to the cylinder valve outlet of the gas regulator. Perform a gas leak test after reconnection to ensure a secure and leak-free connection.
    • If aleak continues to appear after reconnection, do not use the appliance. Have the LP gas cylinder checked immediately by a liquid propane supplier.

  6. Wipe the LP gas cylinder and the cylinder valve outlet of the gas regulator dry with a soft cloth.

Operation

WARNING: Risk of injury!

  • Only use the appliance when it is completely assembled, with all parts securely fastened and tightened.
  • Always inspect the appliance for gas leaks, obstructions on the burner (C) and for any abrasion or wear.
  • Keep the appliance away from high wind areas but keep it in a well-ventilated area.

The appliance becomes very hot while in use.
Use heat-resistant gloves, long-handled tongs or insulated mitts at all times.
NOTICE: Always fit the glass wind guard (E) properly to the fire bowl (A) to protect the flames from wind and prevent foreign objects from accidentally blowing into the fire bowl (A) and catching fire. The use of glass wind guard (E) ensures cleaner burning of the gas and thus reduces the sooting on the fire glass (F).
7.1 Checklist before lighting

  1. Read the instruction manual to understand correct operation and precautions.
  2. Check that all components are properly assembled, intact and operable.
  3. Visually inspect the appliance for any signs of blockage (debris, insects) on the burner (C) or in the burner portholes.
  4. Asuitable LP gas cylinder is used (refer to chapter 4.3 Picking a suitable LP gas cylinder).
  5. Make sure that the top of the LP gas cylinder is clear of debris. Be sure any parts removed during assembly or servicing are replaced and fastened prior to starting.
  6. No alterations have been made to the appliance.
  7. LP gas cylinder is connected correctly (refer to chapter 5.1 Connecting an LP gas cylinder).
  8. Connections of the appliance and the LP gas cylinder checked for gas leaks (refer to chapter 6. Gas Leak Test).
  9. Location of the appliance is suitable (refer to chapter 4.1 Choosing a suitable location).

7.2 Lighting instructions
WARNING: Risk of fire or explosion!

  • Read instructions before lighting.
  • Do not use spirit, lighter-fluid or petrol for lighting or relighting.
  • If you hear a hissing sound or see/smell gas escaping from the connected LP gas cylinder, do not attempt to light the appliance. Disconnect the LP gas cylinder, and reconnect it. If the problem persists, have the LP gas cylinder checked by liquid propane supplier.
  • Always visually inspect the appliance before lighting. Ensure that there are no signs of blockage (debris, insects) on the burner (C) or in the burner portholes.

WARNING: Risk of injury!

  • Never use wet fire glass (F) in the appliance. Wet glass can explode or fly out of the appliance.
  • Fire glass (F) remains hot for some time after use. Let them cool down for at least 30 minutes before removing from the fire bowl (A).
  1. Push in the control knob (D) and turn it clockwise to switch the appliance off (Fig. 7). Release the control knob (D).

  2. Place provided fire glass (F) on the fire bowl (A) to cover the burner (C) (Fig. 12).

  3. Connect an LP gas cylinder to the cylinder valve outlet of the gas regulator (refer to chapter 5.1 Connecting an LP gas cylinder).

  4. Push in the control knob (D) and turn it 90 degree counter- clockwise to the high setting until you hear a “click” sound which indicates a spark from the igniter.

  5. Release the control knob (D). Look for flames to ensure the burner (C) is lit.
    NOTICE: If ignition does not occur in 5 seconds, turn the control knob (D) clockwise to switch the appliance off. Wait 5 minutes to allow any accumulated gas to dissipate before attempting to relight the burner (C).

  6. After the burner (C) is lit, adjust the temperature setting as desired using the control knob (D).

7.3 After use

  1. Push in the control knob (D) and turn it clockwise to switch the appliance off (Fig. 7).
  2. Disconnect the LP gas cylinder (Fig. 9).

7.4 Flame pattern
NOTICE: After lighting, perform periodic and visual checks of the burner flames.

  • A correct flame should be primarily blue with a yellow tip (Fig. 13).
  • Anincorrect flame is excessively yellow, orange or irregular (Fig. 13). If this is the case, clean the burner (C) and burner portholes to increase airflow.

Cleaning and Maintenance

WARNING: Risk of injury!
Repair and maintenance should be done by a qualified service person. The appliance should be inspected before use and at least annually by a qualified service person. More frequent cleaning may be required as necessary. It is imperative that the control compartment, burners, and circulating air passageways of the appliance are kept clean.
8.1 Cleaning
WARNING: Risk of injury

  • Before cleaning and maintenance turn the control knob (D) clockwise to switch the appliance off and allow the appliance to cool down. Disconnect the LP gas cylinder prior to cleaning.
  • Clean the appliance regularly to prevent excessive flare- ups.

WARNING: Risk of injury!
Check and clean the burner (C) regularly for insects and insect nests. In cases of severe blockage, the flames may burn backwards, and outside of the burner (C).
NOTICE: To clean the soot off the fire glass (F), use a 1:1 ratio of diluted vinegar and water. Let the fire glass (F) dry completely before next use.

  • To clean the appliance, wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth.
  • Never use corrosive detergents, wire brushes, abrasive scourers, metal or sharp utensils to clean the appliance.
  • Clean the outer surface of the burner (C) to remove dirt with a wire brush.
  • Clean any blocked burner portholes with a stiff wire such as an open paper clip.

8.2 Storage
8.2.1 Storing the appliance
CAUTION: Risk of injury!
Storage of the appliance indoors is permissible only if the LP gas cylinder is disconnected and removed from the appliance.

  • Disconnect the LP gas cylinder.
  • Store the appliance in an area sheltered from direct contact with inclement weather (such as rain, sleet, hail, snow, dust, and debris).
  • Allow the appliance to cool down completely. Cover the appliance with a waterproof protective cover (not included) to protect it from rain, leaves and debris.

8.2.2 Storing the LP gas cylinder
DANGER: Risk of explosion!
Do not smoke or use any type of flammable material in the area while moving the LP gas cylinder.
CAUTION: Risk of injury!
Store the LP gas cylinder outdoors out of reach of children. Do not store it in a building, garage or any other enclosed area.

  • Never leave the LP gas cylinder exposed to direct sunlight or excessive heat.
  • Store the LP gas cylinder only in upright position.
  • Check for leaks after long periods of storage. Perform a gas leak test (refer to chapter 6. Gas Leak Test) before using the appliance.

8.3 Transport
DANGER: Risk of explosion!
Do not smoke or use any type of flammable material in the area while moving the LP gas cylinder.

  • Disconnect the LP gas cylinder and allow the appliance to cool down completely before transport.
  • When transporting the appliance in a vehicle, secure it in place using bungee cords or similar means.

8.4 Maintenance
Regularly check that all the components and fasteners are tightened.
8.5 Spare parts/replacement parts

• Check if there is any sign of blockage (debris, insects) on the burner or in the burner portholes. Clean and unclog the parts properly.
Smell gas or a “rotten egg” odor.| Propane suppliers add a distinctive “rotten egg” odor to propane because it is odorless. If user smells gas or this odor, disconnect the LP gas cylinder from the cylinder valve outlet of the gas regulator. If the odor remains, call the fire department immediately as there is a risk that the LP gas cylinder is not properly sealed and is leaking. Do not try fix the leaking LP gas cylinder yourself.

Dispose of the appliance according to local regulations. If in doubt, consult your local authorities.
