IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Read and understand all instructions. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in serious personal injury.
  2. When using electric tools, machines or equipment, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and personal injury. Completely read the manual before proceeding to use this tool.

WORK AREA

  1. Keep your work area clean and well lit. Cluttered benches and dark areas invite accidents.

  2. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.

  3. Keep bystanders, children, and visitors away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control. Protect others in the work area from debris such as chips and sparks. Provide barriers or shields as needed.
    ELECTRICAL SAFETY

  4. Double Insulated tools are equipped with a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). This power plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install a polarized outlet. Do not change the plug in any way. Double Insulation eliminates the need for the three wire grounded power cord and grounded power supply system.

  5. Avoid body contact with grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is grounded.

  6. Don’t expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.

  7. Handle the cord carefully. Never use the cord to carry the tools or pull the plug from an outlet. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Replace damaged cords immediately. Damaged cords increase the risk of electric shock.

  8. When operating a power tool outside, use outdoor extensions cord marked “W-A” or “W”. These cords are rated for outdoor use and reduce the risk of electric shock.
    PERSONAL SAFETY

  9. Stay alert, watch what you are doing, and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use tool while tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.

  10. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Contain long hair. Keep your hair, clothing, and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewelry, or long hair can be caught in moving parts.

  11. Avoid accidental starting. Be sure switch is off before plugging in. Carrying tools with your finger on the switch or plugging in tools with the switch on invites accidents.

  12. Remove adjusting keys before turning the tool on. A wrench or a key that is left attached to a rotating part of the tool may result in personal injury.

  13. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. Proper footing and balance enables better control of the tool in unexpected situations.

  14. Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection. Dust mask, nonskid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection must be used for appropriate conditions.

POWER TOOL USE AND CARE

  1. Use clamps or other practical way to secure and support the work piece to a stable platform. Holding the work by hand or against your body is unstable and may lead to loss of control.

  2. Do not force tool. Use the correct tool for your application. The correct tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it is designed.

  3. Do not use tool if switch does not turn it on or off. Any tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.

  4. Disconnect the plug from the power source before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing the tool. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the tool accidentally.

  5. Store idle tools out of reach of children and other untrained persons.
Tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.

  6. Maintain tools with care. Keep accessories sharp and clean. Properly maintained tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control. Do not use a damaged tool. Tag damaged tools “Do not use” until repaired.

  7. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, and any other condition that may affect the tool’s operation. If damaged, have the tool serviced before using. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained tools.

  8. Use only accessories that are recommended by the manufacturer for your model. Accessories that may be suitable for one tool may become hazardous when used on another tool.

BATTERY TOOL USE AND CARE

  1. Ensure the switch is in the off position before inserting the battery pack.
Inserting the battery pack into power tools that have the switch on may cause an accident.

  2. Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack.

  3. Use power tools only with specifically designed battery packs. Use of any other battery packs may create a risk of injury or fire.

  4. When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws, or other small metal objects that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the terminals together may cause burns or a fire.

  5. Do not use the tool in wet or damp conditions.

  6. Always keep the work area free of tripping hazards.

  7. When using the tool, always ensure you are wearing protective safety equipment including safety glasses/goggles, ear muffs, dust mask and other protective clothing including gloves and apron.

  8. Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery.
Avoid contact. If contact accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, additionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritation or burns.

ADJUSTMENT

Variable Speed Trigger Switch (Fig.2)

A trigger switch, located in the same place you might expect the trigger of a pistol, gets the drill moving. The drills usually have a variable speed trigger, meaning that the harder you squeeze, the faster the electric motor spins the drive shaft.
ADJUSTMENT

Forward/Reverse Control Button (Fig.3)

The drill has a forward and reverse control. It’s a sliding switch that indicates and changes the direction a drill is driving depending on which way it is pressed. There should be corresponding arrows on each side of the switch to help indicate direction .

ADJUSTMENT

NOTE: The first time the tool is run after changing the direction of rotation, you may hear a click on start up. This is normal and does not indicate a problem.

Torque Adjustment Collar (Fig. 1)

The drill has an adjustable torque collar. Circling the collar are numbers. You’ll see a list of numbers from 1 to 15. These numbers are used to set the clutch to deliver a torque range. The higher the number on the collar, the higher the torque and the larger the fastener which can be driven. To select any of the numbers, rotate until the desired number aligns with the arrow.

Keyless Chuck (Fig. 1)

A chuck is the part of the drill that holds the bit in place. Inside of the chuck are three jaws that open or close, depending on the direction you rotate the sleeve of the chuck. When installing a new bit, the key is to place it in the center of the chuck’s jaws. For large bits, centering is simple. However, with small bits, they can get stuck between the chucks, making it impossible to drill a hole because the bit will spin off-center.

LED WORK LIGHT (Fig. 1)

The work light is activated when the trigger switch is depressed, and will automatically turn off 20 seconds after the trigger switch is released.

NOTE: The work light is for lighting the immediate work surface and is not intended to be used as a flashlight.

OPERATION

NOTE: This drill is compatible with the accessories of other brands. However, since the drill chuck is 3/8 inch, the diameter of drill bits/driver bits you purchase cannot exceed 3/8 inch.

CAUTION: The battery is not fully charged. You’d better let it charge for 3-5 hours before the first use. Normal charging time is 3-5 hours when the battery is completely dead.

CAUTION: Replace a new battery when tool performance begins to diminish; Severe heat is most destructive to a battery; The more heat it generates, the faster the battery loses power. A battery that gets too hot can have a shortened life.

CAUTION: Never over-discharge a battery when using the tool even after tool performance has decreased. When tool performance begins to diminish, please stop letting the tool work and recharge the battery for optimal performance.

OPERATION

HOW TO CHARGE THE BATTERY PACK
