Swing Maxi Troubleshooting
Guide

Before commencing troubleshooting process – please check the following:

1. All Medela parts are readily available
2. Assembly is correct
3. Connectors are free of milk residue/lint

Swing Maxi – Parts

2 x Personal Fit Flex breast shield (24 mm)
2 x Personal Fit Flex breast shield (21 mm)

2 x Connector (body and lid)
2 x Membrane

2 x Bottle
2 x Bottle stand
2 x Lid

1 x Tubing
Avoid washing. Do not use with pump if moisture is present in tubing.

1x Motor unit

1x power adapter with cable

1. USB Type A (plugs into the power adapter)
2. USB Type C (end that plugs into the pump)

Swing Maxi – Assembling

Ensure all breast pump components are dry before use. Incompatible or wet components may cause irreversible damage to your breast pump.

1. Carefully insert the yellow membrane with the flap into the opening of the connector body. Make sure the membrane forms a seal around the edge of the connector body.

2. Close the connector lid until it audibly clicks.

3. Screw the connector onto the bottle.

4. Carefully push the breast shield into the connector.

5. The oval breast shields can be rotated (360°) and placed in the desired position to have the most comfortable fit for you.

6. Insert the round end piece of tubing into the opening of the connector lid
   (1). Don’t attempt to force it to the stop. It is normal that there remains a gap
   (2) between the collar of the tubing end piece and the lid.

7. Connect the end piece with the polygonal shape to the pump unit. Insert the tubing as far as it will go.

Swing Maxi – Cleaning

Please be aware the tubing does not require cleaning. Tubing must be replaced if dirty or moldy.
Cleaning
Do not place the parts directly in the kitchen sink for rinsing and washing. Use a dedicated wash basin for infant feeding items. Do not wash tubing.

1. Rinse the disassembled parts, except for the tubing, with cold, clear drinking-quality water (approx. 20 °C).
2. Clean these parts with plenty of warm, soapy water (@pprox. 30 °C). Use a commercially available washing-up liquid, preferably without artificial fragrances and coloring (pH neutral). The valve support and the valve must be free from ALL residues! Do not wash tubing, please replace if dirty.
3. Rinse the parts with cold, clear drinking- quality water for 10 to 15 seconds (approx. 20 °C).
4. Allow to dry on a clean, unused dish or paper towel after washing.

Swing Maxi — Breast Shield Size

1. Using a ruler or measuring tape, measure the diameter of the nipple at the base (across the middle) in millimeters (mm).
   Do not include the areola.

2. Based on the measurement, determine the Medela breast shield size.
   Example: If the nipple size measures 16 mm in diameter, the recommended Medela breast shield size is 21 mm.
   The Personal Fit Flex breast shields are available in sizes up to 30 mm.

Troubleshooting — Battery/Off & On

Please ensure you are using the correct Medela charger and cable that come included. Use of 34 party chargers and cables can cause issues due to different voltages.
If the pump has not been used for some time, it can go into ‘storage mode.’ Please ensure you charge the battery for 2 hours prior to use.
Issue: The breast pump is not working after pressing on/pause/off button

1. Using the provided charger, charge for 15 minutes before restarting the pump. Charging is indicated by the status light pulsing green.
2. Hold down the on/pause/off button for 5 seconds.
3. If pump still does not work, please contact Medela customer service.
