The preset cooking options of your Philips Airfryer are there for your ease
and convenience.
Please read our article below to find out more.
What are presets?
Preset cooking programs are pre-saved settings on your Airfryer that can help
you select time and temperature quickly and conveniently.
The preset icons can be found on the display of your Airfryer (see the image
below). To select them, you can use the menu button, the QuickControl dial or
tap the icon, depending on the model of your Airfryer.
The most common presets are:
- “Frozen snacks”, such as frozen French fries, frozen potato wedges etc.
- “Fresh fries”, cut from fresh potatoes, not pre-fried or frozen
- “Chicken”, drumsticks, wings or a whole chicken
- “Fish”, whole fish or fillets
- “Cake” or other baking
- “Keep warm”
More and/or different options may be available depending on your Airfryer
model. Make sure to check your User Manual for more details. You can view and
download it using your model number here
www.philips.com/support. The model number is
on the sticker on the bottom of your appliance.

What kind of food can I make in my Philips Airfryer?
Published on 28 March 2023
Your Philips Airfryer is a versatile cooking appliance that allows you to cook
a huge variety of ingredients and tasty dishes. To find out what types of food
you can cook with your Philips Airfryer, read our article below.
Food you can make with your Airfryer
With your Philips Airfryer you can fry, roast, grill, bake, toast and more.
For maximum convenience, you can cook frozen food and reheat food that you
have already made. Check out the information below for more details:
Meat and fish dishes: Chicken, beef, fish and most other dishes that are
usually fried, grilled or roasted will taste delicious when prepared in your
Philips Airfryer. Also, breaded food can be prepared in your Philips Airfryer
with a little oil added to the self-made breading.
Vegetables: All vegetables that can be grilled (such as courgette, corn
on the cob or peppers) can be prepared in your Philips Airfryer.
Frozen foods: Frozen snacks can be prepared in your Philips Airfryer as
they are. It is not necessary to defrost frozen ingredients before preparing
them in the appliance. Frozen ingredients do require slightly longer
preparation time, but this will not influence the result. The temperature
control enables you to choose the best setting for each ingredient.
Baked treats: You can prepare cakes, tarts, muffins as well as bread or
homemade pizza in your Philips Airfryer.
Please note:
Casseroles, such as lasagne can be cooked when using a baking dish that
fits the Airfryer basket.
Leftovers, like pizza slices or bread rolls from the day before, can be
perfectly reheated and will turn out crispy again.

How much food can I prepare in my Philips Airfryer?
Your Philips Airfryer can be filled up to the “MAX” indication on the basket.
The maximum amount depends on the kind of food you want to prepare and the
size of your Philips Airfryer.
Please find more information below.
Potatoes or fries
The basket of your Philips Airfryer can hold between max. 500 and 2000 grams
of French fries depending on your Airfryer model. You can get the best results
by filling the basket to 2/3 of the max indication.
You can find more information about your Airfryer model in your User Manual
and NutriU App.
To check or download the User Manual, find your model number on the sticker on
the bottom of your appliance and visit
www.philips.com/support .
Poultry or meat (as a whole or in pieces)
Depending on your model, your Airfryer can prepare e.g. meat loaf or a whole
chicken with a max. weight of between 800 and 2500 grams.
In general, you can distribute one layer of meat, poultry etc. over the bottom
of the basket of your Airfryer. Make sure that the bottom of the basket is not
completely covered so that hot air can still circulate and evenly cook the
ingredients.
For more information, please check the NutriU App or your User Manual. To
check the User Manual, find the model number of your Airfryer on the bottom of
your appliance and visit
www.philips.com/support .
Stuffed vegetables, snacks or fragile food
When you prepare stuffed vegetables, filled dough snacks or other fragile
food, put one layer on the bottom of the basket of your Airfryer. Make sure
you leave enough room between the ingredients so that you can lift them out
with a pair of tongs.
Cakes, quiches, muffins or breads
Use a baking tin or oven dish that fits your Airfryer basket and pan while
still allowing some space at the sides so that the air can circulate. Do not
fill oven trays or baking tins more than halfway, as the dough will rise
during air-frying.
If you put too much dough in the tray or baking tin, the rising dough may
touch the heating element of your Airfryer and the top may get burnt.
Why do I have to shake the food in my Philips Airfryer?
Shaking the food in your Philips Airfryer’s basket ensures that air will
circulate around it when it is stacked in more than one layer. This way, you
can also check the colour and cooking progress of the ingredients to reach a
more even cooking result.
Which ingredients do I need to shake and how often?
All ingredients that are air-fried in more than one layer need to be shaken
(stirred or turned) during cooking to ensure even cooking results.
Some examples of types of food that we recommend shaking:
- chips
- potato-based snacks
- chicken nuggets
- chicken wings
Please note:
- Fragile food should not be air-fried in more than one layer, as shaking will damage it.
- When the basket is filled with the maximum recommended filling quantity for frozen chips, please shake it 3 to 4 times minimum so that all the food is cooked evenly.
- The more food you have placed in the Airfryer, the more often you should shake it.
How do I shake the ingredients?
To shake the ingredients, remove the basket from the appliance (and/or the pan
if available) and shake the basket over the sink. Then put the basket into the
pan and slide them both back into the appliance.
Make sure that your food is mixed well during shaking – lower layers should
come on top and vice versa – so that you will achieve even results.
Shaking reminder HD9285, HD9860-HD9867, HD9875 and HD9880 only The information
below applies only to models HD9285, HD9860-HD9867, HD9875 and HD9880.
When cooking with the default preset settings, auto-cook programs or Smart
Chef programs (depending on your Airfryer model), some Airfryer models will
notify you with a beeping sound when you need to shake the food. You can find
more information on this feature in your User Manual, which is also available
to view and download at
www.philips.com/support . You can find the
model number of your Airfryer on the sticker on the bottom of your appliance.
Do I need to preheat my Philips Airfryer?
You do not need to preheat your Philips Airfryer. You can immediately put the
ingredients into the basket, without preheating.
