Record / Convert cassette tape to mp3
Plug in your USB flash drive into the “OTG” port. You will see the GREEN indicator light.

Note: The device supports FAT/FAT32/exFAT formats. NTFS is not supported. Please use a USB flash drive with a capacity of 32GB or less.

  1. Only FAT/FAT32 exFAT supported

Press the “PLAY” button on the top of device.
Press the record button and device will begin to convert your cassette to mp3. The GREEN LED will be flashing during recording, and save the mp3 file in your USB flash drive. Press the record button again to stop recording.

You can choose the recording mode to Manual record mode or Auto record mode.

Manual record mode:

After powering on, the device defaults to Manual record mode.
When the cassette playing and a USB flash drive is connected to the device, the device is under standby mode, the GREEN LED shows it is in Manual record mode.
In Manual record mode, you can start and stop recording at any time you like. You can also manually split the recording, to end one track and begin recording a new track.

EXAMPLE: You probably want each song to be saved in a separate mp3 file when you convert the music cassette. In this case, you can quick press the button between the break of the two songs. The device will save the song that just ended and start a new track for the next song.

Note: All files will be saved in the folder named “TAPEMP3” in the USB flash drive, and the files will be named from “FV0001” to “FV9999”. A USB flash drive can only save 9999 mp3 files.

Auto record mode:
In Auto record mode, the device will detect pauses between songs and automatically create new tracks for each song.
To turn on Auto record mode, long press the button for three to five seconds till the LED turns to blue

EXAMPLE: If there are six songs on one side of the cassette, the device will create seven mp3 file. File one to six are the songs, and the seventh file is an empty track for the blank space after the sixth song.

To switch back to Manual record mode, long press the button for three to five seconds till the LED turns back to GREEN.
Note: If the audio is lost for a few seconds during recording, please use the USB flash drive with 40-60 Mb/S read/write speed.

Known problems in Auto record mode: This device works by detecting the level of music. You may encounter these two issues when recording in Auto record mode.

  1. If there is a long pause during the song, the device may “think” it is detecting two different songs and split the recording into two separate files. In this case, we recommend using Manual record mode.
  2. If the pause between two songs is too short, the device “think” it is one song, and save both songs as one file. In this case, we recommend using Manual record mode.

When you face the above issues, you can use a free software to edit your recorded mp3 files -Audacity. Please download form: https://www.audacityteam.org/download

Note: We don’t suggest to power off or unplug the USB flash drive during recording even though the device is designed to automatically save the mp3 file for previous recording when device is powered off or USB flash is unplugged during recording.

Record / Convert via AUX port
Use the auxiliary line in port (AUX) to record music from other sources, such as the radio, mini disc, CD player, or anything with an audio line out. Use Manual record mode or Auto record mode as described above.

Note: AUX cable is not included.

Playback mp3 files:

The device has playback function so you can check the recorded mp3 files immediately.
Press the playback button, the device will start to play the recorded mp3 music files, and the indicator will be flashing slowly.
Press the playback button again to stop playback, and go back to standby mode.
During playback, use   buttons to play previous or next file. And use +/- buttons to adjust playback volume.

Note: Please do not press the record button during playback. Doing so might delete your data. You can also use the device to play other mp3 files stored in the USB flash drive, but they must be in the “TAPEMP3” folder.

Please make sure the file name of all recorded files by the device are not changed. Otherwise the files might not be played.
