INTRODUCTION

  • Installation requires a professional mechanic. Prior to beginning, inspect the steering sector-to-frame and all suspension-to-frame attaching points for stress cracks. The overall vehicle must be in excel-lent working condition; repair or replace all worn parts.
  • Read instructions several times before starting. Be sure you have all needed parts and know where they install. Read each step completely as you go.

NOTES:

  • Prior to beginning the installation, check all parts and hardware in the box with the parts list below. If you find a packaging error, contact Superlift directly. Do not contact the dealer where the system was originally purchased. You will need the control number from each box when calling; this number is located at the bottom of the part number label and to the right of the bar code.
  • A foot-pound (unless noted) torque reading is given in parenthesis ( ) after each appropriate fas-tener.
  • Prior to attaching components, be sure all mating surfaces are free of grit, grease, undercoating, etc.
  • A factory service manual should be on hand for reference.

PARTS LIST

… The part number is stamped into each part or printed on an adhesive label. Identify each part and place the appropriate mounting hardware with it.

INSTALLATION

NOTE: Save all factory components and hardware for reuse, unless noted.

  1. Make sure the tires are pointed straight forward. Place the transmission in park and chock the tires.

  2. The factory steering stabilizer cylinder can be retained if more dampening is desired, otherwise, remove the factory steering stabilizer cylinder and discard.

  3.  [Illustration 1] Remove the two bolts located on the inside most side of the differential, often these bolts are retaining the axle tag.

  4. [Illustration 2] Install the new center axle bracket (55-01-92740) onto the axle and secure to the differential using the supplied 3/8” bolts and around the axle tube using the supplied 3/8” ubolts; tighten. SUPERLIFT-F250-Series-Dual-Steering-Stabilizer-01 \(2\)

  5. [Illustration 3] On the outer tie rod ends locate the bolt holding the wire retainer and remove both from the tie rod.

  6. [Illustration 4] Install the new tie rod lower mount (55-03-92740 driver, 55-05-92740 passenger) onto the tie rod and loosely secure using the supplied 3/8” ubolt in the outside holes. Do not install the inside ubolt at this time. The lower bracket should be placed to the inside of the
“square” boss’ on the outer tie rod end

  7. [Illustration 4] Locate the new tie rod upper mount (55-04-92740 driver, 55-06-92740 passenger) and install over the top of the tie rod and tab into the previously installed lower mount. Secure using the supplied 3/8” bolt, placing the ubolt go over the upper bracket and through the lower bracket inner most mounting holes. Do not tighten.SUPERLIFT-F250-Series-Dual-Steering-Stabilizer-01 \(3\)

  8. [Illustration 5] Install the new center axle brace (55-02-92740) on the top of the center axle bracket and secure using the supplied 3/8” hardware; do not tighten.

  9. [Illustration 6] Install the new steering stabilizer cylinders with the body mounted to the axle bracket and the shaft ends mounted to the tie rod brackets using the supplied 1/2” hardware; tighten. (80)SUPERLIFT-F250-Series-Dual-Steering-Stabilizer-01 \(4\)

  10. Tighten the hardware for the tie rod brackets to (35), then move the center axle bracket and tighten the brace to the center axle bracket. (35)

  11. Have an assistant cycle the steering lock to lock as you observe the operation of the steering stabilizers. Verify that the steering operates smoothly and that the stabilizers do not “bottom out,” preventing the steering from operating through its full cycle. If either one of the stabilizers bottoms out, it may be necessary to adjust the position of the tie rod bracket until the necessary clearance is achieved.

  12. Also during the steering cycle, check clearance between the stabilizer bodies and the rest of the steering components. Check to make sure all steering components are operating properly without any bind. Double-check all fasteners for proper tightness and adequate clearance.

Important Product Use and Safety Information / Warnings

  • As a general rule, the taller a vehicle is, the easier it will roll over. Offset, as much as possible, what is lost in rollover resistance by increasing tire track width. In other words, go “wide” as you go “tall”. Many sportsmen remove their mud tires after hunting season and install ones more appropriate for street driving; always use as wide a tire and wheel combination as feasible to enhance vehicle stability. We strongly recommend, because of rollover possibility, that the vehicle be equipped with a functional roll bar and cage system. Seat belts and shoulder harnesses should be worn at all times. Avoid situations where a side rollover may occur.
  • Generally, braking performance and capabilities are decreased when significantly larger / heavier tires and wheels are used. Take this into consideration while driving. Also, changing axle gear ratios or using tires that are taller or shorter than factory height will cause an erroneous speedometer reading.
  • On vehicles equipped with an electronic speedometer, the speed signal impacts other important functions as well. Speedometer recalibration for both mechanical and electronic types is highly recommended.
  • Do not add, alter, or fabricate any factory or aftermarket parts to increase vehicle height over the intended height of the Superlift® product purchased. Mixing component brands is not recommended.
