ZURN WILKINS 760 Dual Check Valve Backflow Preventer
Product Information
The ZURN WILKINS Model 760 is a Dual Check Valve Backflow Preventer with Intermediate Atmospheric Vent. It is designed to be installed on boiler-fill water lines to protect against both back siphonage and back pressure of polluted water into the potable water supply. This assembly provides protection where there is no potential health hazard.
The proper performance of the Model 760 depends on following the installation instructions and prevailing governmental and industry standards and codes. It is important to note that annual inspection and maintenance are required for all plumbing system components, including this product, to ensure proper performance and maximum life.
Product Usage Instructions
- Before installation, flush the pipelines thoroughly to remove sediment, pipe scale, and other foreign material.
- The Model 760 can be installed in a horizontal or vertical position downstream of a shut-off valve. It should be installed in an accessible location for easy servicing. If installed vertically, an elbow must be installed at the vent to ensure a downward flow.
- Under certain backflow conditions, the Model 760 may spill water from the vent port. It is important to collect this spillage through an air gap, funnel, or other means. The vent port should never be directly piped into a drainage ditch, sewer, or pump. The vent port or drain line should never be plugged.
- When installing the valve with solder connections, do not attempt to solder with the valve assembled. First, remove both end connections and slide union nuts over the tubing. Prepare the solder joint, solder the end connections onto the tubing, and reassemble the valve once the solder has cooled.
Remember that installation of the Model 760 must be performed by qualified, licensed personnel to ensure the proper functioning of the device. Faulty installation can lead to improper device functioning. Following the installation instructions and conducting regular inspections, testing, and cleaning will help maintain the performance and longevity of the product.
