MUTOH UMS21 Universal Mild Solvent Inks Printer

Product Information

The product mentioned in the user manual is a printer model XPJ-1641SR-P or XPJ-1682SR-P. The printer requires regular maintenance to prevent nozzle clogs, damage to the print head, or reduced cleaning performance. The user manual recommends using UMS21 ink and purchasing the designated maintenance cleaner (VJ-ULVA1-ML500) and maintenance kit (VJ-PH-MAINTKIT). It is important to wear protective gloves during maintenance to avoid contact with the maintenance cleaner and ink.
The user manual also provides information about the operating and storage environments for the printer. The recommended operating temperature is between 20°C and 32°C with a humidity range of 40% to 60%. For storage, the recommended temperature is between 5°C and 40°C with a humidity range of 20% to 80%. If the printer is stored above 32°C, the storage period allowed is up to 4 days. If the printer will not be used for over a week, it is recommended to put the printer into Sleep Mode when stored above 32°C for longer than 5 days. More information about Sleep Mode can be found in the printer’s operation manual.
The user manual also provides instructions on when to perform maintenance based on the printer model. For XPJ-1641SR-P, maintenance should be performed once a week before starting work. For XPJ-1682SR-P, maintenance should be performed once a week at the end of work. Additionally, if prompted on the operation panel with the message “Perform CR Maint.”, maintenance should be performed immediately.
In case of specific problems such as missing nozzles or persistent deflection, accumulated ink sticking to the print head causing smears, or clogged nozzles, maintenance should be performed immediately.
The user manual also lists the items required for maintenance, including the maintenance cleaner, stainless steel tray, plastic cup, cleaning stick, vinyl gloves, and personal goggles. The maintenance kit includes items (c) to (f), which are necessary for maintenance. It is advised to contact a local MUTOH dealer for ordering maintenance parts.
Finally, the user manual provides step-by-step instructions on how to put the printer in Maintenance Mode and perform maintenance tasks. The instructions include tapping the Home key, navigating to the CR Maintenance menu, entering Maintenance Mode, and following the prompts to perform maintenance. If the maintenance takes longer than 10 minutes, the user may need to close the maintenance cover and front cover and re-enter Maintenance Mode to continue.
