OPERATION

Warning: the first time you use the appliance, we recommend that you set the thermostat to maximum and leave the oven on for half an hour with nothing in it, with the door closed. The odour that is usually given off at the beginning is due to the evaporation of the substances used to protect the oven during storage.
Note: place the dripping tray supplied on the bottom shelf of the oven to prevent any sauce and/or fat from dripping onto the base when using the grill or rotisserie (only available in some models). For all other types of cooking, never use the bottom shelf and never place anything on the bottom of the oven when it is in operation, as this could damage the enamel. Place your cooking utensils (plates, aluminium foil, etc.) on the rack supplied with the product.

Note: to use the oven in manual mode, the symbol must be aligned with the reference mark on the control panel.

Switch-off The knob must be in position.

Upper and bottom heating element (convection mode)
The position of the temperature knob in this mode is between 60 °C and the maximum temperature. This mode is useful for cooking dishes such as cabbage with ribs, cod, tender veal strips with rice, etc. Excellent results are also obtained when preparing veal or beef dishes that require slow cooking. It is the best system for baking cakes and fruit, as well as for baking in covered casseroles. When cooking in this mode, use only one tray or rack at a time; otherwise, the heat distribution will be uneven. By using the different heights available, you can balance the amount of heat between the top and bottom of the oven. Select between different heights depending on whether the dish needs more or less heat from the top.

Bottom heating element
The bottom heating element is used for foods that normally require cooking from the bottom. Cakes and bread, for example, can be baked using this function.
DO NOT ADD WATER.
Grill mode
The position of the temperature knob in this mode is between 60 °C and the maximum temperature. The grill radiates heat onto the food from the upper heating element. You can use the grill function to prepare tender cuts of meat, steaks, chops, sausages, fish, cheese toast and other quick-cooking foods. Preheat for 3 minutes for best results. This will help seal in the natural juices of the steaks, chops, etc. for better flavour. You can place the food to be grilled in either of the 2 spaces inside the two upper support guides.

Bottom heating element + steam mode

  • For adding extra browning to pizza bases, pies and cakes or steaming various foods. Heat is released from the bottom of the oven.

  • You should add 100 ml of water (approx.) in the lower oven cavity and select a temperature of 200 °C. Approximate cooking time 20 minutes (Fig. 11).

  • Be sure to remove any excess water from the oven cavity at the end of the cooking process.

  • The approximate capacity of the cavity is 500 ml, plus another 500 ml from the rest of the oven base.

  • You can adjust the amount of water and the temperature according to the needs of the food to be prepared.

WARNING: make sure that the interior is completely cool before removing excess water. Risk of burns.

Timer (only available in 02291 and 02292 models)
These models are equipped with a timer to control when the oven switches off during cooking. Timer knob position: between 10 minutes and 120 minutes.
At the end of the cooking time, the timer will beep and automatically switch off the oven.

Oven light bulb
Turn the knob to the symbol to switch on the light that illuminates the inside of the oven. This light stays on when any of the oven’s electric heating elements are switched on.

Practical cooking tips

  • The oven offers a wide range of alternatives that allow any type of food to be cooked in the best possible way. Over time you will learn to get the most out of this versatile kitchen product and the following instructions are only a guide and may vary according to your own personal experience
  • The oven is equipped with 5 position guides. As a general rule, use the 2nd and 4th guides from the bottom, placing foods that require more heat on the 2nd guide from the bottom. For example, when cooking meat together with other foods, place the grill on the 2nd guide from the bottom and the more delicate foods on the 4th guide from the bottom.
  • When cooking foods that require different times and temperatures, set an intermediate temperature between the two required temperatures, place the more delicate foods on the 4th guide from the bottom and remove the foods that require less time from the oven first.
  • Use the tray in the bottom guide and the racket in the upper guide.

Grill use

  • Use the grill mode, placing the food under the centre of the grill (located on the 3rd or 4th guide from the bottom), as only the central part of the upper heating element is lit.
  • Use the bottom guide (1st from the bottom), placing the tray provided to catch any sauce and prevent it from dripping onto the bottom of the oven. When using this mode, we recommend that you set the temperature to the highest setting. However, this does not mean that you cannot use lower temperatures by simply adjusting the temperature knob.

Baking cakes

When baking cakes, always place them in a preheated oven. Be sure to wait until the oven has fully preheated (the light will go out). Do not open the oven door during baking to prevent the cake from reaching its optimum shape.

  • The dough is too dry Increase the temperature by 10 ºC and reduce the cooking time.

  • If the dough spills Use less liquid or lower the temperature 10 ºC.

  • The dough is too dark on top.
Set it on a lower guide, lower the temperature and increase the cooking time.

  • Well-cooked on the inside but sticky on the outside Use less liquid, lower the temperature, and increase the cooking time.

  • Dough sticks to the tray

  • Grease the tray well and dust it with flour or use greaseproof paper.

  • If you have used more than one level (in the convection function) and they are not all at the same cooking point:

  • It is not necessary to remove food from all the guides at the same time.

Making a pizza

  • To get the best results when making pizzas, use the delicate (bottom) cooking function:
  • Preheat the oven for, at least, 10 minutes.
  • Use a lightweight aluminium pizza pan, placing it on the rack supplied with the oven. If the tray is used, the baking time will be prolonged, making it difficult to obtain a crispy dough.
  • Do not open the door frequently while the pizza is being made.
  • If the pizza has many toppings (three or four), we recommend adding the mozzarella cheese halfway through the cooking process.
  • When making pizza on two guides, use the 2nd and 4th guides with a temperature of 220 ºC; place the pizzas in the oven after preheating for at least 10 minutes.

Cooking fish and meat

  • When cooking white meat, poultry, and fish, use a temperature setting of 180 ºC to 200 ºC.
  • For red meat that should be well done on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside, it is a good idea to start with a high temperature (200 ºC-220 ºC) for a short period of time and then lower the temperature.
  • In general, the larger the roast, the lower the temperature should be. Place the meat in the centre of the rack and place the tray underneath to catch the fat.
  • Make sure that the rack is inserted so that it is in the centre of the oven. If you want to increase the amount of heat from below, use the lower guide heights. For savoury roasts (especially duck), dress the meat with lard or bacon on top.

Health risk
Acrylamide is mainly produced by heating starchy foods (e.g., potatoes, chips, bread, cereal products, biscuits, spiced pasta, etc.) at very high temperatures for a long time.

Tips for use in the preparation of low acrylamide foods:

  • Use short cooking times.
  • Cook food until its surface is brown, do not allow it to burn or get dark brown colours.
  • Larger food portions contain more acrylamide.
  • Egg or egg yolk reduces the formation of acrylamide.
  • As a general rule, do not exceed 200 ºC (upper and lower heating elements) or 190 ºC for pastries and biscuits.
  • When cooking potatoes, try to spread them evenly in a single layer on the tray.

General using tips:

  • Use the appliance only for cooking food and nothing else.
  • Disconnect the appliance from the mains if it is not working properly and before cleaning or maintenance.
  • If not in use, unplug the appliance from the mains.
  • Use oven gloves when putting utensils into or taking them out of the oven.
  • Always grip the oven door handle in the centre, as the ends of the oven door may be hot due to possible heat leakage.

INSTALLATION

Installation

  • The appliance must only be installed by qualified personnel following the instructions supplied and taking into account the current regulations. Cecotec declines all liability in the event of incorrect installation, which may cause injury to people and animals, as well as damage to property.
  • Important: the appliance must be disconnected from the mains before any adjustment or maintenance work is carried out on it.
  • The air duct is used for ventilation.
  • In order for the built-in appliance to function properly, the cabinet containing it must be suitable. Figure 2 shows the dimensions of the cut-out for installation under the worktop or in a wall unit.
  • To ensure adequate ventilation, the rear panel of the cabinet must be removed. It is preferable to install the oven so that it rests on two wooden slats. If the oven rests on a flat surface, there must be an opening of at least 45×560 mm.
  • Adjacent cabinet panels shall be made of heat-resistant material. In particular, enclosures with a veneered exterior must be assembled with glues that can withstand temperatures up to 100 ºC.
  • In compliance with current safety regulations, it must not be possible to come into contact with the electrical parts of the oven once it has been installed.
  • All parts that ensure the safe operation of the appliance must only be removed with the aid of a tool (NOT INCLUDED).
  • To fix the oven to the cabinet, open the oven door and fix it by inserting the 4 wood screws into the 4 holes on the perimeter of the frame.

Electrical connections

Ovens equipped with a three-pole power cable are designed to operate on alternating current. The cable for the grounding of the device is yellow green.

Mounting the power cable

  • Opening the terminal box (Fig. 3):

  • Using a screwdriver, prise the bolt on the side tabs of the terminal box cover.

  • Unscrew the screw and open the cover.

  • To install the cable, proceed as follows:

  • Remove the cable clamp screw and the three contact screws.

  • Fix the wires under the screw heads using the following colour scheme:

  • Blue – Neutral (N)

  • Brown phase connector (L)

  • Yellow-Green (Ground)

  • Secure the power cable with the cable clamp and close the terminal box cover.

Connecting the power cable to the mains

  • Install a standard plug (not included) corresponding to the load indicated on the rating plate. When connecting the cable directly to the mains, install an omnipolar circuit breaker with a minimum contact opening of 3 mm between the device and the mains. The omnipolar circuit breaker must be sized according to the load and comply with the applicable regulations (the earth cable must not be interrupted by the circuit breaker).
  • The power supply cable must be routed so that it does not reach a temperature above 50 ºC above ambient temperature and must be protected by insulation with an appropriate rating.
  • Before making the connection, check that:
  • The electrical safety of this appliance can only be guaranteed if the oven is correctly and effectively earthed in accordance with electrical safety regulations. Always make sure that the ground connection is effective; if in doubt, call a qualified technician to check the system. Cecotec declines all liability for damage resulting from a system that has not been grounded.
  • Before connecting the appliance to the mains, check that the specifications indicated on the rating plate (on the appliance and/or on the packaging) correspond to those of the mains supply at home.
  • Check that the electrical capacity of the installation and the sockets can withstand the maximum power of the appliance. If in doubt, contact a qualified technician.
  • If the socket and plug of the appliance are not compatible, ask a qualified technician to replace the socket with a suitable model. The latter, in particular, will also have to ensure that the cross-section of the socket cables is adequate for the power used by the appliance. The use of adapters, multiple sockets and/or extensions is not recommended. If their use cannot be avoided, remember to use only single or multiple adapters and extension cords that comply with current safety regulations. In these cases, never exceed the maximum current capacity indicated on the single adapter or extension cord and the maximum power indicated on the multiple adapter. The plug and socket shall be easily accessible.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

  • Before cleaning or servicing the oven, disconnect it from the mains.
  • To prolong the life of your oven, you should clean it frequently, bearing in mind that:
  • Enamelled or stainless-steel parts should be washed with lukewarm water without the use of abrasive powders or corrosive substances that could damage them. Stainless steel can stain, if these stains are difficult to remove, use special products available on the market. After cleaning, it is advisable to rinse thoroughly and dry the product.
  • The inside of the oven should preferably be cleaned immediately after use, while it is still hot (be particularly careful, risk of burns), with hot soapy water; the soap should be rinsed out and the inside dried thoroughly. Avoid using abrasive detergents (e.g. scouring powders) and abrasive sponges or acids (e.g. lime scale removers) as they may damage the enamel. If grease stains and dirt are particularly difficult to remove, use a special oven cleaning product according to the instructions on the packaging. Never use a steam cleaner to clean the inside of the oven.
  • If you use the oven for a long period of time, condensation may form, dry it with a soft cloth.
  • The oven has a rubber gasket around the opening which guarantees its perfect functioning. Periodically check the condition of this seal. If necessary, clean it and avoid using abrasive products or objects to do so. In the event of a malfunction, please contact the official Cecotec Technical Support Service. We recommend that you avoid using the oven until it has been repaired.
  • Never line the bottom of the oven with aluminium foil, as the resulting heat build-up could compromise cooking and even damage the enamel.
  • Clean the glass door with non-abrasive products or sponges and dry it with a soft cloth.

How to disassemble the oven door

For a thorough cleaning, you can remove the oven door. If it were the case, proceed as follows:

  • Open the door fully (Fig. 4).

  • Fully open the left and right hinge levers (Fig. 5).

How to disassemble the oven door

  • Carefully remove the inner glass (Fig. 9).
How to disassemble the oven door

  • Clean the glass with a suitable cleaner. Dry it thoroughly and place it on a soft surface.

  • Then you can also clean the inside of the outer glass

Steam cleaning

3. This function helps to remove food residues from inside the oven. This method is only effective for the removal of light, non-fouling dirt. It is not effective to remove stubborn stains caused by cooking. This function can only be used when the oven is cold.
4. Cleaning procedure:

  • Remove all shelves, plates, racks, trays, etc.
  • Prepare a solution of water (85%), white vinegar (10%) and dish detergent (5%) and spray generously on the door, side walls and rear wall of the oven cavity (Fig. 10).
  • Pour 40 ml of water into the base of the oven cavity (Fig. 11).
  • Close the door. Set the Steam-Assisted Cleaning function and the temperature to 130 °C.
  • Turn off the oven after 18 minutes.
  • Allow to cool to a safe level before wiping the inside surface with a damp cloth.
  • Dry the entire interior properly with a cloth or absorbent paper.

WARNING: make sure the oven is completely cooled down. Danger of burns.

Note

  • Slight differences in colour in the front part of the device are caused by the use of different materials, like glass, plastic, and metal.
  • The shadows on the door panels, which look like stripes, are due to reflections from the interior lighting.
  • Enamel is made at very high temperatures. This can cause a slight colour variation. This is completely normal and does not affect the device operation. The edges on thin trays cannot be completely enamelled. As a result, these edges can be rough. This does not affect the corrosion protection.
  •  Always keep the device clean and immediately remove the dirt so that the appliance does not accumulate lasting dirt residues.

Tips

  • Clean the oven interior after every use. This way, you will not cook food over this dirt.
  • Immediately remove lime, grease, starch, and albumen stains (e.g., egg white).
  • Use suitable oven cookware, e.g., an oven platter.

Warning – Risk of injury

  • If the hinges are not blocked, they can be lock with energy. Make sure the lock levers are always completely locked or, when detaching the device door, they are completely unlocked.
  • The device hinges move when you open and close the door, be careful not to get caught. Keep hands away from hinges.

TIPS

How to prepare your own recipe| Try to use first similar recipe settings for optimal results.
---|---
How to know when the sponge cake is ready| Place a toothpick inside the cake 10 minutes before the preparation time expires. If there is no uncooked dough on the toothpick after removing it, the cake is ready.
The sponge cake surface is too brown on top.| Place it on a lower level and/or use a lower setting temperature (this can lead to a longer cooking time).
The sponge cake is too dry| Use a temperature 10°C higher (this may result in a shorter cooking time).
Food has good aspect, but the interior moisture is too high| Decrease the temperature in 10ºC (this could lead to an upper cooking time) and check the recipe steps.
Uneven browning| Decrease the temperature in 10ºC (this could lead to an upper cooking time).
Use convection mode.
The cake is less browned on the bottom| Place it on a lower level.
Cooking in more than a height level at once: food on a height level will be darker than food on another height level.| Use convection mode to bake at more than one height and remove the tray/rack individually when ready.
Water condensation during cooking| Steam is part of the cooking process and is usually released together with the cooling air flow. This steam can condensate in different oven surfaces or near them and form water drops. It is a physical process and cannot be completely prevented.
Suitable baking utensils| You can use heat-resistant bakeware. It is recommended not to use aluminium in direct contact with food, especially when they are acidic. Make sure the container and lid fit properly.
General oven use| Preheat the oven for 5 minutes and place food on the level indicated in the manual.

Do not use the oven when the door is open, except

to remove/introduce/check food.

How to keep the oven clean during roasting| Place the tray at height 1. Almost every liquid dripping from food placed on the rack will fall into the tray.
The heating element on any cooking mode turns on and off during time| It is a normal operation, and it depends on the temperature setting.
