VOLT VWL-703 Salty Dog MR16 In-Grade Light
Product Information
The product is a luminaire designed for installation in accordance with local
codes and the National Electric Code (NEC).
It is important to follow the provided instructions and adhere to these codes
to ensure safety, prevent property damage, and maintain the warranty.
The luminaire is not suitable for installation within 10 feet [3 meters] of a
pool, spa, or fountain. It is intended for use with a power supply
(transformer) rated maximum of 300 watts (25 AMPS) at15 volts. The underground
low energy cable should not be buried more than 6 inches (15.2 cm) when
connecting to the main low voltage cable. Wiring connections must be made
using UL Listed wire connectors suitable for the application.
Product Usage Instructions
- Before installing or servicing the fixture, ensure that the power is turned OFF.
- Avoid installing the fixture within 10 feet [3 meters] of a pool, spa, or fountain.
- Use a power supply (transformer) with a maximum rating of 300 watts (25 AMPS) at 15 volts.
- When connecting the underground low energy cable to the main low voltage cable, ensure it is not buried more than 6 inches (15.2 cm).
- Make wiring connections using UL Listed wire connectors suitable for the application.
- Position the wire connector within 6 inches (15.2 cm) from a building structure, luminaire, or fitting.
- Ensure that the lamp is not touched with bare hands. Use a soft cloth to handle the lamp.
- Do not exceed the maximum wattage marked on the luminaire label.
- Follow the steps below for installation:

- Make sure that the power is turned OFF before installing or servicing this fixture.

- This fixture is intended to be used only with a power supply (transformer) rated maximum of 300 watts (25 AMPS) at 15 volts.
- Underground Low Energy Cable must not be buried over 6” (15.2 cm) in order to connect to the main low voltage cable.
- Wiring connections must be made with UL Listed wire connectors that are suitable for the application.
- Position the wire connector so that it is located within 6 inches (15.2 cm) from a building structure, a luminaire, or fitting.

WARNING – To reduce the risk of FIRE OR INJURY TO PERSONS.
- Turn off/unplug and allow to cool before reducing lamp.
- Lamp gets HOT quickly!
- Do not touch the hot lens, guard or cowl.
- Keep lamp away from materials that may burn.
- Do not touch lamp at any time.
- Use a soft cloth.
- Oil from skin may damage lamp.
- Do not operate the fixture with a damaged or missing lens or shield.

INSTALLATION STEPS

Remove Faceplate and Lens
Loosen the thumb screws and slide the housing down to the end of the bars. Unscrew the screws and remove the faceplate, gasket, and lens from the housing. -
Install/Replace Lamp
Insert lamp with correct wattage and type marked on fixture label.
CAUTION: Do not exceed maximum wattage marked on luminaire label.
NOTE: DO NOT touch lamp with bare hands. Use a soft cloth to handle lamp. -
Install Lens and Faceplate
Place the lens, gasket and faceplate back onto the housing. Secure them with the screws previously removed. Hand tighten until snug, then use a screwdriver to secure the screws using a star pattern. Adjust housing to your desired height and angle, then secure it in place with the thumb screws. -
Dig Hole
Dig a hole in the ground making sure there is approximately 3 inches of room on all sides surrounding the PVC tube for pea gravel or sand. -
Wire Connection
Place the fixture onto the PVC Tube. Pass the luminaire pigtail through the PVC tube.
Strip both leads from the luminaire pigtail. Using two wire connectors (sold seperately), connect the leads from the luminaire to main supply cable leads. -
Fill Pea Gravel or Sand
Install the PVC tube with fixture in the hole and fill the extra space with pea gravel or sand for proper water drainage.
