Installation Recommendations:
For single location wiring:

Device Configuration:
To add the device to a Z-Wave network:

Product Usage Instructions:
- Ensure that you have a neutral wire available for installation.
- Mount the Z-Wave In-wall Smart Fan Control indoors in the desired location.
- Connect the wires according to the provided wiring diagram for either single-location or multi-location wiring.
- If using multi-location wiring, install a primary switch and add-on switch.
- Once the installation is complete, ensure that you have a Z-Wave hub or controller ready to add devices.
- Press and release the top or bottom button on the smart fan control to add it to the Z-Wave network.
- To remove the device from the network, press and release the top or bottom button on the smart fan control when the Z-Wave controller is ready to remove devices.
- To reset the device to factory defaults, quickly press the ON button three times, then press the OFF button three times. The LED on the device will flash ON/OFF five times when the reset is completed successfully.

Adding your device to a Z-Wave network
Once the hub is ready to add your smart fan control, press and release the top or bottom button on the smart fan control to add it in the network. -
To remove and reset the device
Once the controller is ready to remove your device, press and release the top or bottom button on the smart fan control to remove it from the network. -

Multiple-gang boxes
When installing the smart fan control in multiple-gang boxes it may be
necessary to break off one or both sides of the scored tabs on the front yoke.
This does not affect the electrical rating of the switch (see specifications
for details).
WARNING — SHOCK HAZARD
Turn OFF the power to the branch circuit for the switch and fixture at the
service panel. All wiring connections must be made with the POWER OFF to avoid
personal injury and/or damage to the switch. This device is intended for
installation in accordance with the National Electric Code and local
regulations in the United States, or the Canadian Electrical Code and local
regulations in Canada. If you are unsure or uncomfortable about performing
this installation consult a qualified electrician.
Multi-switch wiring
For 3-way installations, please refer to add-on switch manual
Single-switch wiring
Before installation, you may wish to change the paddle color to match your
wallplate or décor. Please proceed to section 5.

Shut off power to the circuit at circuit breaker or fuse box.
IMPORTANT! Verify power is OFF to switch box before continuing. -
Remove wallplate.
-
Remove the switch mounting screws.
-
Carefully remove the switch from the switch box. DO NOT disconnect the wires.
-
There are five screw terminals on the fan control; these are marked:
- A. GROUND – Green/Bare
- B. L OAD – Black (connected to fan)
- C. L INE (Hot) – Black (connected to power)
- D. TRAVELER – Red/Other (only in 3-way installations)
- E. NEUTRAL – White Match these screw terminals to the wires connected to the existing switch.

Disconnect the wires from the existing switch. Label wires according to the previous

IMPORTANT! This fan control is rated for and intended to only be used with copper wire.
Wire gauge requirements
Use 14AWG or larger wires suitable for at least 80° C for supplying line
(hot), load, neutral, ground and traveler connections.
Wire strip length
For attachment using the enclosure’s holes, strip insulation 5/8in. (16mm).
UL specifies the tightening torque for the screws is 14Kgf-cm (12bl f-in.).

Connect the green or bare copper ground wire to the GROUND terminal.
-
Connect the black wire from the fan to the LOAD terminal.
-
Connect the black wire from the electrical service panel (hot) to the LINE terminal.
-
Connect the white wire to the NEUTRAL terminal (use jumper wire if needed).
Note: The traveler terminal is only used for 3-way or 4-way wiring and should not be connected if the fan control is installed in a 2-way system (one switch & one load). -
Insert fan control into the switch box being careful not to pinch or crush wires.

Secure the fan control to the box using the supplied screws.
-
Mount the wallplate.
-
Reapply power to the circuit at fuse box or circuit breaker and test the system.
Basic operation
Note: Before starting, fan must be set to HIGH position using pull chain.
The connected fan can then be turned ON/OFF and adjust speed levels in two
ways:
1. Manually from the front panel of the fan control.
2. Remotely with a Z-Wave controller.
Manual control
1. To turn the connected fan ON, press and release the top of the orcker.
Note: Fan will return to last speed setting of the fan control – default =
HIGH.
2. To turn the connected fan OFF, press and release the bottom of the rocker.
Adjust fan speed
The LED indicator confirms fan speed settings by flashing patterns:
- LOW – Blinks every two seconds for 10 seconds
- MEDIUM – Blinks every second for 10 seconds
- HIGH – Blinks every half second for 10 seconds
- To increase fan speed, press and hold the top of the rocke.r
- To decrease fan speed, press and hold the bottom of the rocke.r
Note: The smart device only controls the fan motor and does not control any lighting connected to the fan. If your fan has an integrated light, a second switch needs to be installed to control the lighting directly. No more than two identical fans should be connected to the fan control. The total load of the fan(s) should not exceed 2.5A.
Adding your device to a Z-Wave network

Follow the instructions for your Z-Wave certified controller to add a device to the Z-Wave network.

Once the controller is ready to add your device, press the topo r bottom rocker of the fan control.
You have complete control to turn your fan ON/OFF and adjust speed according to groups, scenes, schedules and interactive automations programmed by your controller.
If your Z-Wave certified controller features remote access, you can control your fixture from your mobile devices.
If prompted by the controller to enter the S2 security code, refer to the Verify this product supports S2/SmartStart QR code/security number on the side of the box or the QR code label on the product (see Figure -

To remove and reset the device
- Follow the instructions for your Z-Wave certified controller to remove a device from the Z-Wave network.
- Once the controller is ready to remove your device, press and release the top or bottom rocker of the fan control.
To return your switch to factory defaults
Quickly press ON (top) button three times. Then, immediately press the OFF
(bottom) button three times. The LED flashes ON/OFF five times when completed
successfully.
NOTE: This should only be used in the event your networks’ primary
controller is missing or otherwise inoperable.
To change color of the paddle
This step is optional. Before installation, you may want to change the color of the paddle to match your wallplate or décor.
- Lift the air gap tab at the base of the paddle.
- Push the side tabs in on one side and then the other to reealse paddle. Lift the cover up and of.
- Simply put the new paddle onto the fan control by insertingt he air gap and side tabs and snapping securely into place.
Once this step is complete, return to section 3.
The Jasco add-on switch is required for multi-switch 3-way or 4-way installations. Connecting the traveler terminal of this switch to a standard, non-Jasco switch will cause damage or result in improper function. If this switch is part of a multi-switch installation, do not connect the traveler wire or apply power until Jasco add-on switches are correctly installed. For more information on multi-switch installations, view the Jasco add-on switch manual.
Z-WAVE INTEROPERABILITY
This product can be included and operated in any Z-Wave network with other
Z-Wave certified devices from other manufacturers and/or other applications.
All non-battery operated nodes within the network will act as repeaters
regardless of vendor to increase reliability of the network.
This device supports Association Command Class (3 Groups)
- Association Group 1 supports Lifeline, Switch Multilevel Report
- Association Group 2 supports Basic Set and is controlled by pressing the ON or OFF button with the local load
- Association Group 3 supports Basic Set and is controlled by double pressing the ON or OFF button
- Each Association Group supports 5 total nodes
