Onkyo-SKH-410-Dolby-Atmos-Speaker-System-product

Supplied Accessories

Onkyo-SKH-410-Dolby-Atmos-Speaker-System \(1\)

  • Height speakers
  • Speaker cables (3.0 m)
  • rubber stoppers
  • Keyhole slot for wall mounting

Connecting the Speakers

  • Tum off your receiver before making any connections.
  • Pay close attention to speaker wiring polarity. Connect positive ( +) terminals to only positive(+) terminals, and negative(-) terminals to only negative (-) terminals. If the speakers are wired incorrectly, the sound will be out of phase and will sound unnatural.
  • Be careful not to short the positive and negative wires. Doing so may damage your amp.

Enjoying Home Theater

  • The height speakers are facing toward the ceiling to create an elevated audio effect in the Dolby Atmos and Dolby Surround listening modes by providing sounds echoing off the ceiling.
  • Place the height speakers above your eye height. The rubber stoppers prevent the speakers from moving, providing a more stable platform.

Wall Mounting

To mount the Height speakers vertically, use the keyhole s’• t shown to hang each speaker on a screw that’s securely screwed into the wall. Fit the keyhole slot to the screw hole on the back of the speaker and securely tighten it with the supplied screws.

Caution

  • Do not install the height speakers on the ceiling.

  • A mounting screw’s ability to support a speaker depends on how well it’s anchored to the wall. If you have hollow walls, screw each mounting screw into a stud. If there are no studs, or the walls are solid, use suitable wall anchors. Use screws with a head diameter of 5/16″(9 mm) or less and a shank diameter of 1/8″(4 mm) or less. With hollow walls, use a cable/pipe detector to check for any power cables or water pipes before making any holes.

  • Leave a gap of between 3/16″(5 mm) and 7/16″(10 mm) between the wall and the base of the screw head, as shown (We recommend that you consult a home installation professional).

  • A guide of screw tightening torque is 10 kgf · cm.

Before Using Your New Speakers

The speaker cabinets are made out of wood and are sensitive to extreme temperatures and humidity. Do not use them in locations exposed to direct sunlight or high humidity, such as near an air conditioner, humidifier, bathroom, or kitchen.

  • Installing these speakers on top of the front speakers enhances the Dolby Atmos effect. When installing them on the front speakers, use the supplied rubber stoppers to prevent the speakers from falling.
  • Avoid handling the speakers with wet or damp hands.
  • Do not place objects on these speakers or apply excessive force to them.

Precautions

The speakers can handle the specified input power during normal music reproduction. However, if they are subjected to any of the following signals, even if the input power falls within the specified rating, excessive current may flow through the speaker coils, leading to burning or wire breakage:

  1. Interstation noise from an untuned FM radio.
  2. Audio from a cassette that is in fast-forward mode.
  3. High-pitched sounds are produced by an oscillator, electronic musical instrument, and similar sources.
  4. Amplifier oscillation.
  5. Special test tones from audio test CDs and the like.
  6. Thumps and clicks resulting from the connection or disconnection of audio cables (always turn off your amplifier before making these connections).
  7. Microphone feedback.

It’s important to note that the speakers contain powerful magnets. Avoid placing metal objects, such as screwdrivers, in close proximity to the speakers, as they can cause damage to the tweeter diaphragm.

FAQs

What's included in the package when purchasing the Onkyo SKH-410(B) Dolby Atmos Speaker System?

The package includes height speakers, speaker cables (3.0 m), rubber stoppers, and a keyhole slot for wall mounting.

How should I connect the speakers to my receiver?

Turn off your receiver before making any connections. Pay close attention to speaker wiring polarity. Connect positive (+) terminals to only positive (+) terminals, and negative (-) terminals to only negative (-) terminals. Incorrect wiring can result in phase issues and unnatural sound. Avoid shorting the positive and negative wires to prevent damage to your amplifier.

How should I position the height speakers for the best audio effect in Dolby Atmos and Dolby Surround modes?

The height speakers should be facing toward the ceiling to create an elevated audio effect. Place the height of speakers above your eye height for optimal performance. The rubber stoppers provided prevent the speakers from moving and provide stability.

Can I wall mount the height speakers?

Yes, you can mount the height speakers vertically using the keyhole slot provided. Securely screw each speaker into the wall with the supplied screws. Ensure that the keyhole slot fits the screw hole on the back of the speaker. Do not install the height speakers on the ceiling. If you have hollow walls, screw each mounting screw into a stud. For solid walls, use suitable wall anchors. Leave a gap of 3/16 Inches to 7/16 Inches between the wall and the screw head. Follow proper installation guidelines to avoid damage.

Is there any product warranty for the Onkyo SKH-410(B) Dolby Atmos Speaker System?

Yes, there is a warranty for this product. It is warranted to be free of workmanship and spare parts defects due to manufacturing for the FIRST YEAR from the date of purchase. However, this warranty is limited to THREE months for industrial/commercial outlets. The warranty may become void under certain conditions, as outlined in the provided warranty card. Always keep your warranty card and purchase receipt.

What is the purpose of height speakers in a Dolby Atmos system?

Height speakers are designed to create an immersive audio experience in Dolby Atmos and Dolby Surround listening modes by providing sounds that appear to come from above, echoing off the ceiling. This enhances the sense of height and three-dimensionality in your home theater setup.

Can I use these height speakers with any receiver or amplifier?

These height speakers are compatible with Dolby Atmos and Dolby Surround systems. To use them effectively, your receiver or amplifier should support these audio formats. Make sure your equipment is compatible with height channels and capable of processing object-based audio.

What is the recommended installation height for the height speakers?

It's recommended to place the height speakers above your eye height for the best effect. This positioning allows the audio to simulate sounds coming from above. Adjust the height based on your seating arrangement and room layout for optimal performance.

Are there any special considerations when wall mounting the height speakers?

Yes, when wall mounting, use the keyhole slot provided to hang each speaker on a securely screwed screw in the wall. Be cautious not to install them on the ceiling. Ensure that the mounting screws are securely anchored to the wall. For hollow walls, screw into a stud, and for solid walls, use appropriate wall anchors. Maintain a gap between the wall and the screw head, as recommended. Consult a home installation professional if needed.

What should I do if I encounter issues with these speakers not covered by the warranty?

If you experience any issues that are not covered by the warranty, you can contact an Onkyo Authorized Independent Service Center for assistance. They can provide service and support for out-of-warranty situations. Be prepared to cover the cost of service or repair for items not covered by the limited warranty.

How can I register my Onkyo product for updates and support?

To register your Onkyo product and stay informed about new products and updates, you can visit the Onkyo website and follow the registration process specific to your region.

What do I do if I have further questions or need support for my Onkyo product?

If you have additional questions or need assistance with your Onkyo product, you can contact Onkyo's customer support.
