Guide To Setting Up Your Camera: Wired Connection Using The Foscam App

Before You Get Started
To download and install the Foscam app on your device, simply scan the QR code provided below. For iOS users, get it from the App Store, and for Android users, find it on Google Play.

For a smoother video experience on your smartphone, we advise ensuring that your device meets the following specifications

iOS: Version 11 or higher.
Android: Version 5.0 or higher, with a device equipped with a Graphics Processing Unit (GPU).

Wired Connection

Use an Ethernet cable to connect the camera to your POE Switch or POE NVR. Wait for a few seconds until you hear the message “Wired connection succeeded.”
Ensure that your smartphone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the camera.
Tip: Before proceeding, double-check that both your smartphone and camera are connected to the same Wi-Fi network
Launch the Foscam app and either register a new Foscam account or sign in if you already have one.

Access Your Camera on PC

Foscam VMS

Foscam VMS is an innovative software designed for PCs, eliminating the need for plug-ins. It is compatible with both Windows and Mac operating systems, supporting all Foscam HD cameras and enabling you to connect up to 36 cameras simultaneously. If you wish to manage multiple cameras effortlessly, we highly recommend installing Foscam VMS. Adding The Camera IP Address

Launch Foscam VMS and create a local administrator account to log in.
Click on the “+” icon within Foscam VMS and follow the setup wizard to easily add your camera.

Mounting

Direct the camera towards the preferred location and utilize the supplied screws for mounting.

Note: Be aware that you must prevent rain or water from reaching the connector ports located at the end of the tail cable, as these connectors are not weather-resistant.

Important Notice

Camera Username & Password
The camera’s username and password serve as credentials to access and manage yourcamera. Ensuring a strong password greatly enhances the camera’s security.If you happen to forget either of these credentials, you can resolve the issue by pressing the “Reset” button. Simply hold the “Reset” button for more than 3 to 5 seconds.

Storage Media
Your camera offers support for multiple storage formats, including cloud storage, NVR (Network Video Recorder), and Micro SD card (compatible with FAT32 and exFAT formats).

Q: Does it come with a power supply, and how is it connected to power?

A: No, it does not come with a power supply. To power the camera, you will need to use a POE (Power Over Ethernet) injector. The power is supplied from the POE injector to the camera through the ethernet cable.

Q: Does the camera require Wi-Fi?

A: No, it's a POE camera, which means it requires an ethernet cable for both power and data transmission to your LAN. You will need a switch or router capable of delivering POE

Q: What are the specifications of Ethernet cables that PoE cameras require?

A: PoE cameras support T-568B connectors and CAT5, CAT6, CAT7 with 8PIN Ethernet cables.

Q: Can this camera be powered with a battery pack in case of power outage

or tampering?

A: The camera is powered through the Ethernet cable from your NVR. If you connect your NVR to a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply), the camera will remain powered as long as the NVR is operational.
