Introduction
The Ankarsrum Original stand mixer may be used to mix and knead bread dough, cookie dough, cake batter, and just about any other baked treat. The stainless steel bowl and carbon steel base of this unique mixer have a Royal Blue Matte finish. A 7-liter stainless steel mixing bowl, a dough roller, a dough knife, a dough scraper, a dough hook, and a dust cover top are all included with the machine (perfect for allowing dough to rise in the bowl). The huge stainless steel mixing bowl has a remarkable 21 cup capacity for flour and a distinctive rotating shape. The scraper and deeply fluted roller of the bowl represent your hand’s palm and fingers, respectively, as the bowl rotates.
The dough is folded rhythmically by the scraper, then vigorously massaged by the roller. These attachments are ideal for greater hydration dough and are soft enough for gluten-free mixes. The strong dough hook kneads by stretching, pulling, and folding the dough around the hook while the bowl rotates. It is suited for dryer, heavier doughs. A 3.5-liter double-beater bowl constructed of sturdy Tritan plastic, which is BPA and BPS free and safe to use with boiling sugar syrup and won’t leave a greasy residue after whipping cream, is also included in the package. It includes a set of multi-wire balloon whisks that are ideal for whipping and aerating cream, egg whites, meringue, marshmallows, and other light batters.
A set of single-wire whips made for light batters and soft cookie dough is also provided. Always use the beater assemblies with room temperature butter or cream cheese. The electronic speed sensor automatically adapts motor torque to the load, and the speed control knob enables a smooth transition from 45 to 130 RPM. The 12-minute timer included into the On/Off knob allows it to run while you attend to other tasks and stop when you want it to. The large timer and speed controls are appealing and simple to read, and the control panel is tilted for comfortable use.

Frequently Asked Questions
What the difference between 6230 and 6220
The 6220 has plastic control knobs and a 5 year warranty. The new 6230 model has all metal control knobs, and more comfortable shaped knob for tightening the mixing arm as well as a 7 year warranty. Those are the only different here in the North American model. In Europe there was an increase in the motor wattage but no changes to the motor here in the US and Canada.
This machine gets great reviews for making bread but what about other baking tasks like making cakes and cookies?
The reason I bought this mixer is because I was tired of stopping my KitchenAid to add ingredients and scrap down the sides. This mixer is well thought out. I have used the cake bowl and beaters which worked just fine. What I like is the two different beater choices for the heaviness of the cake or cookie batter. Plus it makes excellent bread without having to knead by hand. I LOVE this mixer!
Sometimes the switch fails to turn the machine on, however if it is turned off then wait about 10 seconds it works fine. Is this normal?
I would say this is definitely not normal. It is my understanding that the circuit board in some 2018 models have been faulty. I would contact the manufacturer directly. I love my Ankarsrum.
Which attachment works best for creaming butter/sugar (+ adding flour for cookies)? Is this mixer even appropriate for this type of baking?
I have never used the clear bowl and cookie whisks on mine, because I only use the metal bowl with the roller and scraper. If the butter is appropriately softened, then it works great. I love it. Watch videos on YouTube because there is a learning curve.
Can it use 110 V?
That is correct, this version is the US 110V version. Let us know if you have any other questions!
Is this a heated mixer?
If you are asking whether you can or have a temperature setting, no. It’s a mixer that is very powerful & does a wonderful job on bread dough. As well as any other mixer job.
What is the package dimensions?
It came in a large box that was 18″ x 18″ x 14″.
What is the difference between the black chrome and the black diamond mixer base? Googling is not particularly helpful.
Black Diamond is black with flake–it’s subtly sparkly (a cousin and her son both have it). Black Chrome is kind of a metallic super-dark gray; it’s neither true black nor sparkly. Several friends and family members have it as well–although I’m not into black appliances, my choice would be the BD.
Where can I order andarsrum 6230 in 220v in usa?
My guess would be from the Bread Beckers (they’re the U.S. distributor) or Pleasant Hill Grains.
How can the responsibility be realized in the country where I live? communicate with the official importer? before I buy I want to know this … other
Where are you? You can certainly go to Ankarsrum’s site and find out if there are importers for your country, at which point you should contact the importer. The mixer has a great warranty and I would imagine that Ankarsrum ensures that their importers take responsibility for repairs.
Are drive gears metal or “plastic”?
As the product description reads it’s metal
Does it have a breaker bar?
This isn’t a spiral mixer so no, no breaker bar.
Is there a pasta roller attachment available or is that the ‘roller attachment’?
The standard “roller attachment” is for dough mixing/kneading – there are separate attachments sold for rolling/cutting pasta.
I make sourdough rye (heavy, low hydration) using 5 pounds flour and white spelt using 6 pounds of flour. Will my doughs fit in this mixer?
I think that would be too much volume for this bowl, even at low hydration. I’m a huge fan of this mixer and I’d even bet the motor could do the work, but I think that is simply too large of a batch for the bowl to contain.
Can you make homemade cake batter and can you make meringue in this machine
Yes, it comes with several attachments and easily does everything that a typical stand mixer does. Light batters, cookie dough, pastry creams and meringue are very light work for this mixer.
