Product Information

The 913 & 914 Flanged Coupling Adapter (FCA) is a product used for connecting pipes in water installations. It ensures a secure and leak-free connection between pipes.

Installation Instructions

  1. Clean the outside surface of the pipe approximately 12 inches from the end of the pipe. Make sure the gasket bearing surface is free of any blemishes that may affect the seal.
  2. Lubricate the pipe surface and gasket(s) using a soap and water solution. If necessary, anti-freeze can be added to the lubricant solution. Ensure that the lubricant solution meets the requirements of the water and pipe supplier.
  3. Place the follower flange, gasket, and adapter body (in that order) on the spigot end of the pipe.
  4. Bolt the adapter body to the companion flange.
  5. Slide the gasket into position against the adapter body and place the follower flange against the gasket.
  6. Install the follower flange bolts and torque them to an initial torque of 50 ft-lb. Then, torque the bolts to a final torque of 70 ft-lb for 5/8 bolts and 90 ft-lb for 3/4 bolts. Ensure that all bolts are torqued to the recommended values using a calibrated torque wrench.
  7. Recheck all torque values after fluid pressure is applied and torque if required.
  8. If the FCA contains anchor studs, follow steps 8-12:
  9. Follow the standard installation procedure for 913/914 FCAs, ensuring that all bolts are properly torqued. Insert the pipe a minimum of 1″ past the anchor stud boss. Once the anchor studs are installed, the pipe cannot be moved.
  10. For 5/8 anchor studs, thread a standard 1/2 NPT pipe nipple into the anchor stud boss. For 1″ anchor studs, use a 1 NPT pipe nipple.
  11. Using the pipe nipple as a drill guide, drill a 41/64″ hole (for 5/8 anchor studs) or a 1-3/64″ hole (for 1″ anchor studs) completely through the pipe.
  12. Remove the pipe nipple and install the anchor stud using a good quality pipe thread compound that acts as both a lubricant andsealant. Do not use tape-type products. The thread compound should meet the requirements of the water supplier.
  13. Repeat the above procedure for each anchor stud.
