DEADBOLT-REAR DOOR

  1. Tape both the Rear Door Templates to the inside of the right rear door Fig.1

  2. Carefully mark the hole locations with a center punch and drill holes as indicated on templates.

  3. On rear door jamb template, mark the center hole location with a center punch. Drill a 1/4” pilot hole and then enlarge it with a 3/4” step drill. This will insure a clean and accurate hole. Fig. 2

  4. Install the deadbolt assembly inside the door and fasten it in place with steel strap and two1/4”-20 x 3/4 Phillips head bolts as shown in Fig. 3

  5. Check the operation of the deadbolt assembly. Be sure it slides freely through the 3/4” door jamb hole. HINT: If the deadbolt rubs or binds against the hole, enlarge it with a rattail file.

  6. Install the square Trim Plate over the door jamb hole as shown in Fig 4. ( It is a good idea to tape the plate in place to check for proper positioning before drilling holes). Use 1/8th drill bit on the top and bottom holes 1st and attach the plate with 2 # 8 Stainless Steel screws. These holes in the plate are oversized to allow for a minor adjustment. Then use 1/8th drill bit on the right and left holes. Then pop rivet the plate permanently in place.

  7. Locate and drill a 3/4” hole in the opposite door jamb to receive the deadbolt. This can easily be accomplished by placing a small patch of putty on the end of the bolt. Then close both doors completely and push the bolt through to make contact with the opposite door jamb. This will give you the exact location to drill a 3/4” hole. See Fig 5.

  8. Then install the rectangular Trim Plate over the hole. See Fig. 6

ELECTRICAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR BOTH DOORS

  1. Attach the Female Spade Thermals to the actuator. Fig 1

  2. Wrap wires with electrical tape as shown in Fig. 2

  3. Carefully locate and cut the protective cover on the power door lock wire loom as shown in Fig. 3. Locate the Brown and Gray wire.

  4. Strip the wire and attach wires as shown in Fig. 4. Press the power door lock button to test the Electric Bolt to be sure the lock is working properly. ( If Electric Bolt doesn’t work then reverse the wires). Once you have tested the lock and it is working correctly, soldier the wire connections and tape the wire harness. Use zip ties to secure the wire harness to limit movement.

  5. Repeat this step on the side and rear doors

***Please note that if you have factory power door locks without the factory remote – You may want to add a remote keyless entry system. This will give you the convenience of having to use your key to gain access to your van.
