How to choose the appropriate size?
Use the size corresponding to the bust measurement. Seam and hem allowances are included. Stitch this garment 6 mm (1/4) from edge unless otherwise indicated. Pieces are stitched with right sides together unless otherwise indicated.
Jalie’s sewing technique for stretch fabric if you do not have a serger
- First seam: a large zigzag stitch directly on raw edge of fabric, without stretching the fabric.
- Second seam: a straight stitch 6 mm (1/4) from edge of the fabric stretching the fabric lightly.

Front and back
- Pin side back to back and stitch. Bring seam allowance towards side and topstitch.
- Fold welt wrong sides together and join raw edges using a zigzag stitch.
- Sew a staystitch 6 mm 1/4’ from pocket opening .
- Clip corners up to, but without cutting, the staystitch.
- Pin welt to right side of pocket opening.
- Stitch over visible stitch, from one corner to the other.
- Pin ends of welt to short sides of opening and stitch.
- Topstitch pocket opening.
- Pin right side of pocket lining to wrong side of front, matching notches.
- Stitch as shown, within 6 mm (1/4) from edge.
- Pin side front to front and stitch. Bring seam allowances towards the side and topstitch.
Sleeve
Pin upper sleeve to lower sleeve ) and stitch. Bring seam allowance towards lower sleeve and topstitch. Pin sleeve side to sleeve and stitch. Bring seam allowance towards sleeve side and topstitch. Pin sleeve to front and back arms cues and stitch. Bring seam allowances towards the sleeve and topstitch . Pin front to back at side and underarm seam and stitch. Pin one of the collar pieces to the neckline, matching center backs and shoulder marks , and stitch.
Waistband and cuffs
Pin waistband pieces and stitch. Cut only one of the layers , along its center line which will become center front. Open the waistband, fold wrong sides together and pin. Join raw edges with a zigzag stitch. Pin waistband to right side of bottom edge of garment, matching side seams with the band seams and stitch. Fold cuff piece right sides together, matching notches and stitch. Fold wrong sides together and join raw edges with a zigzag stitch. Pin cuff to right side of sleeve opening and stitch.
Hood
Pin lower hood pieces matching notches and stitch. Bring seam allowances towards one side and topstitch. Pin upper hood to lower hood, matching notches and stitch. Bring seam allowances towards upper hood and topstitch. Fold hood front wrong sides together and join raw edges with a zigzag stitch. Pin hood front to hood, matching notches and stitch. Bring seam allowance towards the hood and topstitch . Pin hood to right side of collar, matching notches and stitch.
Finishing
On the remaining collar piece, sew a guide stitch 6 mm (1/4) from edge without outer notches. Pin this piece to sewn collar and hood for view B, matching notches, and sew as shown from one end of the guide seam to the other. Cut excess zipper. Fold up and pin seam allowance and stitch over visible seam. Turn collar right side out, fold collar seam allowance under (along the guide seam), pin and hand stitch. If your fabric is not too thick, topstitch front and collar on right side.
