ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC DEVICES – INFORMATION FOR PRIVATE HOUSEHOLDS
The Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG) contains a large number
of requirements for handling electrical and electronic equipment. The most
important requirements are summarized here.
-
Separate collection of old devices
Electrical and electronic equipment that has become waste is referred to as waste equipment. Owners of old devices must collect them separately from unsorted municipal waste. In particular, old devices do not belong in household waste, but in special collection and return systems.. -
Batteries and accumulators as well as lamps
Owners of old devices must usually separate old batteries and accumulators that are not enclosed by the old device, as well as lamps that can be removed from the old device without destroying them, before handing them in at a collection point. This does not apply if old devices are prepared for reuse with the participation of a public waste disposal authority. -
Possibilities of returning old devices
Owners of old devices from private households can hand them in free of charge to the collection points of the public waste disposal authorities or to the take-back points set up by manufacturers or distributors within the meaning of the ElektroG. Shops with a sales area of at least 400 m² for electrical and electronic equipment and those grocery stores with a total sales area of at least 800 m² that offer electrical and electronic equipment several times a year or permanently and make it available on the market are subject to the obligation to take back. This also applies to sales using long-distance means of communication if the storage and shipping areas for electrical and electronic equipment are at least 400 m² or the total storage and shipping areas are at least 800 m². In principle, distributors must ensure that they are taken back by providing suitable return options at a reasonable distance from the respective end user.
The possibility of returning an old device free of charge exists in the case of distributors who are obliged to take it back, among other things, if a new device of the same type that essentially fulfills the same functions is handed over to an end user. If a new device is delivered to a private household, the old device of the same type can also be handed over there for collection free of charge; This applies to sales using means of distance communication for devices in categories 1, 2 or 4 in accordance with Section 2 (1) ElektroG, namely “heat exchangers”, “display screen devices” or “large devices” (the latter with at least one external dimension of more than 50 centimeters). End users are asked about a corresponding return intention when concluding a purchase contract. There is also the option of returning old devices that are no larger than 25 centimeters in any external dimension to the distributors’ collection points free of charge, regardless of the purchase of a new device, limited to three old devices per type of device. -
Privacy Notice
Old devices often contain sensitive personal data. This applies in particular to information and telecommunications technology devices such as computers and smartphones. In your own interest, please note that each end user is responsible for deleting the data on the old devices to be disposed of. -
Meaning of the “crossed-out” wheeled bin symbol
The symbol of a crossed-out garbage can, which is regularly shown on electrical and electronic devices, indicates that the device in question must be collected separately from unsorted municipal waste at the end of its service life.

APPLICATION
The power capacitor is used in vehicles for stabilizing the 12 Volt supply and
support for car
audio amplifiers, if fast and temporary high currents are required. The power
capacitor can compensate short-term power peaks on the on-board electrical
system for low and powerful bass operations.
The use of the power capacitors results in a considerably improved power
expansion of the amplifier, which requires very high current peaks for a
proper operation. Conventional car batteries are not designed to deliver
additional power supply to car audio amplifiers.
Another feature of this power capacitor is to filter car AC voltage included
by the amplifier power supply. This can cause audible interferences in the
audio signal.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
If possible, leave the installation of the power capacitor to a trained and
skilled car
audio installer.
If you still want to make the installation by yourself, you must observe
the following
instructions. Otherwise there is risk of injury or serious damages on the
vehicle‘s electrical system may occur.
-
The power capacitor stores an extremely large amount of electricity and could explode or cause serious injuries. If the device is used for other purposes than originally intended or
if not proper used or installed, personal injuries or damages on the device could occur. -
The power capacitor has no polarity protection! Hence, it is essential to avoid a short circuit at the power terminals. Dangerous high currents and enormous damages could occur.
Danger of explosion! -
The capacitor should be mounted at a mechanically stable position in the vehicle. The device should be fixed properly and professional.
-
In no case must the power capacitor operated with a voltage higher as indicated.
-
Protect the capacitor against humidity and heat, the admissible temperature range is from – 40 °C to +80 °C.
-
For cleaning use a dry and soft cleaning tissue, by no means any chemicals or water.
-
The power capacitor is suited to be operated in vehicles inside the European Union and owns a CE-mark.
WARNING! ELECTRICAL HAZARD
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
For best results, the power capacitor should be installed as close as possible
to the amplifier.
The cable between the capacitor and the power amplifier should be as short as
possible and
should have a large cross-section. If you use a cross-section over 50 mm2 ,
you can remove the bushings at each of the four terminals. The cables should
be routed during installation and operation so, that the insulation is not
damaged.
Make sure during the installing, that no standard components of the vehicle such as cable, on-board computers, seat belts, tanks or similar parts are damaged or removed.
By no means install the power capacitor on any kind of speaker enclosure or on strong vibrating areas. Otherwise components in the inside of the power capacitor may get loosen.
To avoid any interferences, connect the capacitor’s ground connection at the
same ground terminal like the amplifier. The correct wiring is displayed on
page 14 in section WIRING.
INITIAL CHARGING PROCESS
For the initial charging process you must use the supplied charging resistor, to limit the charge currents and to avoid connecting sparks.
- Connect the ground cable with (-) NEGATIVE INPUT at the power capacitor.
- Then connect the REMOTE at the power capacitor with the remote turn-on wire (REM) of the head unit and switch it on.
- Connect the enclosed charging resistor with(+) POSITIVE INPUT at the power capacitor and the other end of the charging resistor with the +12 V cable. Use a suitable gripper or a clamp to hold the charging resistor.
- Remove the charging resistor after about five minutes or when the power capacitor ave reached 8.5 volts or more.
- Then connect the +12V cable with (+) POSITIVE INPUT at the power capacitor to finish the charging process, until approximately 12 – 14 V on the voltage display is shown.
IMPORTANT:
- During the charging process between 7 ~ 8 Volt a beep is hearable
- The charging resistor may get very hot while charging
- Make absolutely sure not to short the terminals
- Avoid direct contact of your body with the power terminals and blank wires
WIRING
The power capacitor must be connected between the vehicle battery and the amplifier. Use only high-quality and adequately sized power cables with a cross section of at least 20 mm2
- First, connect the ground wire to the „(-) NEGATIVE INPUT“ terminal of the power capacitor. Then connect the terminal „(-) NEGATIVE OUTPUT“ of the power capacitor to the ground terminal (-) of the amplifier.
- Then connect the +12 V-wire to the „(+) POSITIVE INPUT“ terminal of the power capacitor. After that, connect the terminal „(+) POSITIVE OUTPUT“ of the power capacitor with the
+12 V (+) terminal of the amplifier.
IMPORTANT: The +12 V-connection must be secured with a external in-line fuse between the vehicle battery and the power capacitor. For the correct fuse rating, check the owner‘s manual of the amplifier.
- Then connect the terminal „REMOTE“ on the power capacitor with the remote turn-on wire (REM) of the head unit. After that, connect the terminal „REMOTE“ of the power capacitor with terminal „REM“ of the amplifier.
ATTENTION:
- Make absolutely sure not to short the terminals or not to interchange the polarity.
- Avoid direct contact of your body with the power terminals and blank wires
- You must charge the power capacitor before the first operation, follow the notes on page 13 in section INITIAL CHARGING PROCESS.
DISCHARGING PROCESS
If you want to uninstall the power capacitor , you must discharge the power capacitor completely. Never discharge the power capacitor by bridging the terminals (short circuit). The capacitor may get damaged or explode.
- Remove at first all cables from the terminals of the power capacitor except on (-) NEGATIVE INPUT and REMOTE at the power capacitor. The remote turn-on connection must remain for checking and the head unit must be switched on.
- Connect the enclosed (dis-)charging resistor between (-) NEGATIVE OUTPUT and (+) POSITIVE INPUT at the power capacitor. It is recommended to hold the (dis-)charging resistor during the discharging process with a gripper, as it may get very hot.
- The discharge process can last approximately 5 to 6 minutes. Thereafter, all cables on the terminals of the power capacitor can be removed.
ATTENTION:
- During the discharging process between 8 to 7 Volt a beep is hearable
- The (dis-)charging resistor may get very hot while discharging
- Avoid direct contact of your body with the power terminals and blank wires
- Never discharge the power capacitor without the enclosed resistor.
