INTRODUCTION
This manual describes the use, care and risks related to neoprene wetsuits for the surface.
CONDITIONS OF USE
Cressi wetsuits are made using manufacturing processes and materials that make
them highly reliable and long-lasting.
Their purpose is to provide protection from the sun and abrasions during use
on the surface. In order not to compromise their quality and your personal
safety we recommend that you abide by certain specific usage conditions:
- Always use the suit within the temperature range of the thermal class to which it belongs (see the table of thermal protection classes).
- We recommend that you do not use your wetsuit in contaminated environments or those with high concentrations of hydrocarbons. Contact with petrol or oils during the usual operations carried out aboard a boat, for instance, could affect your suit’s integrity.
- Moreover, we recommend that you only use your wetsuit for the specific use it was made for, and that you avoid any use other than surface use.
- Always avoid impacts or abrasions during use.
WARNING:
This wetsuit is intended for surface activities in water and is not intended
for diving.
MATERIALS
Cressi wetsuits are made using insulating neoprene rubber layers that are paired with protective nylon linings. Their purpose is to limit contact between external water and the skin, protecting against the sun and abrasions. The layers are joined using flat through-seams that still reduce the passage of water. Plastic or metal zippers make the suits easier to put on. They are arranged vertically on the front or back of the body, and have flaps underneath to reduce water leakage, improve comfort, and protect the zippers from any blows or scratches.
WARNING
Dangerous situations may occur on the surface when the body gets excessively
warm (hyperthermia). Therefore, during the summer or in tropical areas, avoid
prolonged exposure to the sun when wearing the wetsuit on the surface,
regardless of your level of physical exertion.
HOW TO PUT ON YOUR WETSUIT
It is very important that the wetsuit adapts to the user’s body correctly,
clinging to it without being too tight. It must never interfere with normal
movement and especially with breathing. Be sure you are able to bring your
hands together over your head, touch your toes, and bend your knees without
hindrance. It is very important that the wetsuit does not hinder your chest’s
expansion in any way: we recommend therefore that you mimic a few deep
breaths. You must also pay attention to the seal at your neck, wrists and
ankles, which must be adequate but not too tight. This would restrict blood
flow to the hands, feet, and head, resulting in a loss of feeling or fainting.
On the other hand, a wetsuit that is too large will leave the water free to
flow in and out of the wetsuit and move inside it, creating a flow that can
lead to considerable heat loss.
The wetsuit size should be chosen to prevent creases or water pockets due to
excess material.
These sort of “empty” spaces would create depressions as you move that would
further feed the flow from outside.
In order to choose the Cressi wetsuit standard size that corresponds best to
your measurements, please refer to the sizes table at the end of this manual.
Here is how to wear your wetsuit correctly:
- Remove rings, bracelets, watches, or necklaces that might damage the neoprene or latex seams, scratch the leather, or get damaged themselves.
- Turn your wetsuit’s trunk inside out and fold it over the legs from the waist downwards.
- If possible, sit down, put your foot into the leg of the suit holding the fabric at the calf, and push your foot through the bottom opening. Then pull the suit up the rest of your leg.
- Do the same with your other leg.
- Lift your wetsuit until its crotch is at the right level.
- Put your first arm into the sleeve and use your other hand to pull it through to the cuff, paying attention not to damage the neoprene if it is the smooth type.
- Do the same with your other arm.
- Adjust the wetsuit, making sure that the flap under the zipper is properly placed.
- Zip up the zipper checking that it does not catch anywhere and that its folds do not restrict movement. For vertical zippers, zip and unzip while standing. Make sure the tab comes all the way to the stop in order to avoid it opening accidentally and to keep water out.
- For two-piece wetsuits, proceed with the pants according to steps 1 through 5. If your have a Farmer John, slide your arms into the shoulder straps. Turn up the trunk of the jacket (if there is a zipper you need to open it) and slide in your arms as in steps 6 and 7. Using your hands, stick your head into the hood and then lower the jacket over your torso. Zip up the zipper if your suit has one. Close the beaver tail.
- If the wetsuit has cuff and ankle seals, remember to turn them up before dressing.
- If you have a separate hood, it should be put on last.
ALLERGIES
The materials used to make wetsuits can cause allergies in very rare cases.
Before buying or wearing one, we recommend that you make sure you are not
allergic to neoprene, polyester or nylon.
CHECKS BEFORE USE
Before every use, make sure that your wetsuit is in good condition, checking
its seams and fabric, and that the zipper works properly and is undamaged.
CHECKS AFTER USE
After each use, check your suit for any damage, and repair any damage you find
as soon as possible. If you need special assistance, we recommend that you
visit an authorized Cressi dealer.
CLEANING AND DISINFECTION
After each use you should rinse the wetsuit with fresh water inside and outside, removing sand and debris. Let it dry in the shade, hanging if possible. We recommend that periodically you thoroughly hand wash in cold water using detergent for delicate garments. Do not dry clean or machine wash, do not use bleach, and do not iron.
HAND WASH IN COLD WATER DO NOT DRY CLEAN
DO NOT BLEACH
HANG IN THE SHADE TO DRY DO NOT USE A DRYER
DO NOT IRON
MAINTENANCE
You should always check the suit for any cuts or perforations, and seal any that you find using neoprene putty. Check that the zippers are in good condition and that there are no foreign objects in the teeth that would prevent them from working properly. If they are difficult to open and close, we recommend lubricating them.
STORAGE AND TRANSPORT
Store the wetsuit hanging on a hanger in a cool, dry place out of the sun. Do
not fold your suit and avoid compressing the neoprene. Carry it in a scuba
gear bag that fits it comfortably and avoid folding it too much, especially
near the zippers.
DISPOSAL
Always comply with the laws in force in the country in which you dispose of
your wetsuit.
