Frequently Asked Questions
My understanding is that these work with regular family radios like the Cobra micro talks. Mine are not, is there something I have to do?
They have a cct code or something like that. My other UHF radio was able to here these, but wasn’t able to listen on the H-777. My other UHF radio has a screen so I was able to go thru the cct codes 1 by 1 until I found the correct code. I hear that these radio could be programmed with some software. Look it up on Youtube.
Can the readio be heard by others if you are wearing the earpiece? Is there a mic built in to the ear piece?
We use this for our backstage crew for drama productions, and haven’t had any problem with noise “bleeding” from the earpieces (though I suppose it could if you turned the volume up far enough). There are mics on the cord of the earpieces; you can clip them to your shirt, and you have to press a little button on the mic to speak.
We would like to use these in a greenhouse compound. Are they water tight/waterproof?
I have used mine in the rain and had no problems, so far they’ve been fine.

You have to push the button to talk.
I live in on a farm, would these work during rain and snow conditions? Would someone understand how to work these right out of the box?
Yes, they come pre-programmed with 16 channels. Take a pair, set to same channel, and turn on and talk. I would advise against the ear piece use during those conditions as it would probably fail. The have charging bases, which should be place in a good environment.

How well do these work between floors in a building with concrete floors and firewalls between wings?
We bought them for a family cruise and have not tried thembetween floors yet. my husband drove all fit in the car and I stayed at the house and we tested them and could hear clearly for three quarters of a mile. at that point we could still here but static was introduced.
Can these be seperated into 2-3 households that are within a few miles from each other? I need 2 for each house.
A few miles is a stretch for any handheld not relying on a repeater. I would not recommend them. They will go a couple of miles pretty easily on flat level surface and do for us. And I gave a pair to some business associates and they are using them about a mile from each other. I would suggest that they are so in-expensive that they might be worth a try, and the return policy is very fair. HUGS
I am interested in using this radio in a nightclub environment … how well do the earpiece / mic work in loud environments?
I ordered these to use as our communications from the television master control to all of our camera operators. I have tested the range and they are awesome-crystal clear sound 700 feet away from each other. I haven’t had a chance to check on loud situations, we will have to wait until volleyball and basketball play games.
Do they work okay around buildings with the antennas attached?
We use them in and around 5 buildings across 8 acres inside our Campground and we have no problems. We always leave the antennas on though.
Can you use Motorola headsets with these?
Most headsets just plug in and are the same 1/4 inch plug at the connection. If the Motorola headset has a single 1/4inch plug, it should work.

There are the mic on the earpiece, and also the PTT, so it can provide you the hands free. The walkie talkie have the belt so that you don’t need to hold the radio body.
